Hmmmm.... maybe, but other parts of human body are quite well optimized for their tasks, both in the practical and aesthetic sense. Wouldn't the genes that result in such awful teeth be weeded out of existence (or at least reduced to 1/100000 level) as quickly as the genes that result in chronically inflamed skin, or autoimmune disorders? There has to be something other than genetics...

As oft-maligned as they are on here, chicks from the US generally have nice teeth.

Brazilians as well.

Bad teeth are a deal-breaker.

I don't understand how that's possible in the UK, given the (from what I've heard) free basic medical services for everyone via the NHS. Here in Croatia many people can't afford even that, yet teeth are in much better condition on average.

The NHS dental treatment isn't free for most people, just subsidised - so dentists have no desire to sell you extra treatments when they will have to wait and claim the bulk of the money back from the NHS.

As a consequence, dental perfection isn't a thing in the UK, all your peers only have major issues fixed and live with the rest. No cheerleaders with a perfect set of pearly whites as competition.

As more private dentists open, It's slowly coming around - lots of people are getting braces in their late 20s and 30s now, but a wrecked grill will hardly ever hold you back.

I prefer a well-aligned natural set of chompers that show good genes over a perfect grill that shows off Daddy's money.

If that were true then there wouldn't be any ugly people either.

Truth is that our evolution isn't over. In general, we haven't changed much for thousands of years because society happened probably.

I think that for most of nature's needs, beauty isn't all that important. Get people to be reasonably healthy, fit, and attractive, and then they can survive and reproduce in a society indefinitely.

However, just like humans can experience greater suffering than animals, we also have a greater appreciation of joy and beauty (as far as I know, I could be wrong).

That's why a human would go into into a supermarket and inspect all the packets of steak or eggs before making a purchase and a lion would just tear into it. It would take a really rancid piece of meat to deter a lion.

I think that, in general, as groups go from the survival stage (like the lion, or living in bad conditions like third world or ghetto) into the higher economic brackets, there is a correlation on quality expectation.

Maybe this explains the stereotype that black guys tend to go for fat chicks more than white guys (based on the assumption that, on the whole, black guys in America don't yet have as much money as white guys.. except for people who don't tip well like Jay-Z), but we'd have to look at a place like Ireland and see if poor whites are also going for fat white girls.

In olden days, when a man bought a horse, the first thing he would look at to verify its health was the teeth. As go the teeth, so goes the body.

Hence the proverb, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth", meaning, when someone gives you a gift, don't examine its quality.

My point: Yeah, teeth matter.

Crooked teeth really don't bother me. I actually sometimes think it adds to their attractiveness...sometimes. Deal breakers are gummy smiles and teeth that look unhealthy (excessively yellow) or rotting.

Good history lesson. New year resolution is to floss more, eat less sugar. I bought a Water Pik but dont use it much. They have linked dental hygiene to heart disease, diabetes and other things.

Teeth fall on the list of shit that only really matters when it's fucked up. I've never been turned on by teeth. A smile, yes, but teeth are only one part of a smile. The only memorable bad teeth I've encountered was one lass who had a big gap between her two front teeth. That has always bothered me on men and women. I could not stop looking at it. Absolute deal breaker.

I agree. I didn't realize it until this thread but I think I'm warming up to crooked teeth and a slight snaggle. I'm going to make it a conscious effort to make it less of a dealbreaker for me in the future.

Also concur that gummy smiles and unhealthy teeth will never stop killing my boners. I'd say teeth that are bad in those two ways are among my biggest peeves when it comes to bitches.

Bad teeth are a huge problem here in Cambodia and it has turned me off of a lot of prospects. Even the ones with normal teeth sometimes have really fucked up breath. I'm starting to make it a point to lean in early on in the conversation to get a whiff so I don't waste my time. ha

Not liking something doesn't equal would never bang and no room for exceptions.

Of course would ravage that ass. Her gums are cutting it close to being too much but she's an attractive woman. I especially like the other.

If I dated one of these women, though, I can guarantee you I'd never stop noticing that flaw.

That being said, I can't stand a banged up grill.

This is coming from a guy with braces for years, surgeries and monthly visits to an orthodontist from fourth grade till sophomore year of HS.

Busted grills are a complete deal-breaker for me.

For some reason, so are long fingernails (if not painted). Long-ass fingernails just creep me the fuck out.

100% agree, The teeth is one of first thing i look at.

A few summers ago I had this 19 year old pocahontas looking Puerto Rican chick bad as sin. Her teeth looked like she chewed rocks though.

Once we were at my place I want to figure out why her teeth was so fucked up. So i told her tomorrow i have to go to the dentist, Then i ask when was the last time you had a check up. SHE TOLD ME THE LAST TIME SHE WENT TO THE DENTIST SHE WAS AROUND 8 YEARS OLD. Had to let her go could not kiss her again after that.

Another thing i noticed while traveling is adult woman with braces
I see that alot in DR , Brazil, Colombia anyone eles notice this ?

I have a friend in brazil who opened up a few dental practices i think he was up to 25 last time we spoke the bussiness is a cash cow mainly Kids and woman.

RE: How Important Is a Girl's Grill?
I wish we didn't have to be so picky, but the sexes are so up in arms against each other these days that, yes, something like teeth, which for thousands of years before modern dentistry were probably terrible for almost everyone (George Washington had wooden teeth), are going to have to heavily factor in how determine the quality of a girls appearence.

It sucks because there are some girls in my family that have bad teeth, and I know that us posting about bad teeth being nasty here and places like ROK are going to probably make it harder for them to find happiness, but now that the discussion is already started, it's hard to ignore how much teeth can affect a girl's beauty.

Luckily, we do live in a time where you can pretty much get your entire grill replaced with a new one. A George Foreman quality grill.

What makes some people have gummy smiles, I wonder. Is it the size of their teeth? Bigger gums? The way they smile?

On some women, a slight gap can look cute, like Fay Dunnaway.

I think that big teeth look masculine because like having a big nose, it reminds of big dick. However big gums has a similar effect.

Most middle or even working class kids in the US are brought up with the belief that you're supposed to visit the dentist every six months for a cleaning and check-up starting from the toddler years.

Not everyone follows through with that, but it's the ideal.

People I've met from other countries seem to mainly visit the dentist when there's a problem which is already causing pain.

Also, they think bringing 2 year olds to the dentist is a waste, because they don't have their permanent teeth yet. Thing is, if the baby teeth rot out, the permanent ones grow in wonky.
