Yeah, pretty shitty. He's got a lot of potential too. And bitches dig him - he gets a lot of play when he's single. He just has low self esteem and is really needy so he clings to them whenever he gets a chance.

He's a classic case of the "Nice Guy." Either that or he's on a rage and being a total asshole to overcompensate and protect himself.

One time after some slut I warned him not to even date dumped him for her ex he wrecked three rigs in a month (drunk). Or maybe it was two - I can't fucking remember. Either way, thought for sure we were going to lose him that time.

EDIT: Sorry - for the derail. My bad.

Live in the moment more. Anxiety is from worrying about future events. Which literally don't exist. All that exists is right now. The more you tell yourself that the better you will be.

Not Expressing yourself isn't a cause of anxiety IMO.

Your anxious because you can't say what's on your mind? I don't get that.

Stop giving a fuck about things.

No worries for derail Beyond Borders. A thread filled with different angels on anxiety would not be bad.

Midnight Special, it might sound weird, but anxiety from repressed emotions is not that uncommon. And the best indicator for myself is my anxiety grows or fades with my ability to speak my mind.

Not being able to express yourself is about you not feeling wordy of space and acknowledgment, walk on your toes etc.

BB, tell your brother to start reading the manosphere, beginning with this place right here (unless there are problems with him knowing that you post here).

The body of knowledge and testimony from guys on this forum and other places at this point far exceeds what any single book can do (though the book could help, too). Let him make his way through it -- he almost can't help but learn something.

At this point you can find valuable discussions on this forum on just about any topic, big or small, that comes up in a guy's life. So you can send him some links as appropriate and get him hooked up.

Of course it might not work -- but it may. Don't underestimate the power of what we have here.

The best time to do this obviously would be soon after a guy has been fucked over in some way by his blue-pill convictions. That's when he would be most receptive.

Go grain free too man. Check out the book 'grain brain'.

Gluten and sugar are also responsible for anxiety.

RE: Anyone beat anxiety?
There is a lot of good advice in this thread. I particularly like some of what Giovonny has to say. For a fast-acting but temporary solution, go do something that scares the shit out of you. Go skydiving. Rock climbing. Wild pig hunting. Walk into the desert for three days with nothing but a blanket, a canteen, and a good amount of peyote. Not sure what it would be for you, but pick an activity that: 1. Can be done over a weekend, 2. Is inherently dangerous, and 3. Sounds exciting to you.

This idea is very much like a quick injection of the same principle behind the martial arts advice. It has worked well for me when I need something to jolt me out of a major depressive episode, to get me to the point where I can begin to manage whatever needs managing.

RE: Anyone beat anxiety?
Try and let go of the demand that you should be happy and life should be wonderful. This demand is paradoxically the root of most depression.

Is the purpose of human existence to be happy? Is that why God put us here? What a waste if that's the case.

Try and gain as much self-knowledge as you can by asking yourself some hard questions, like..."What would it take for me to be truly happy?"', "What needs to happen for that to come true?", "What is it about that which somehow prevents it from actually coming true?"...and so on, and so on. Every answer you come up with follow it up with another question that drills down deeper into that answer.

Do this type of questioning enough and you may discover something truly amazing about yourself and life in general. Do this enough and your anxiety may be replaced with wonderment and even downright laughter at the mission impossible of happiness and how we take ourselves, the others and this world so seriously.

I'm pretty sure God is looking down and laughing at our seriousness all the time, wondering when we are going to wake up and laugh with him.

I´m 6,4, earn 100k more in a year, good friends, good family, live in a part of the world with low crime and I know I´ll be taken good care of no matter what happens to me, apart from anxiety I have good health also.

Even though most things in my life are great I still feel a lot of if from time to time. Close my eyes in quiet room and there is a lot of unrest in my body.

Things I´ve tried with some success is therapy, group therapy, meditation, medication, but I´m still not all the way where I want to be.

Things that work, but only for a short while are working out and getting a good night of sleep.

So I turn to rooshvforum, anyone have some good tips to share about anxiety?

I highly recommend that you read "Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome" by Dr. James Wilson.

http://www.amazon.com/Adrenal-Fatigue-Ce...al+fatigue

Adrenal fatigue, often caused by too much stress or constant low-level stress, can result in many types of anxiety from very low levels to full-blown panic attacks. Just Google "adrenal fatigue" and "anxiety" and you will see what I mean. Good luck.

BTW: After experiencing a few health issues, I have made the decision to give up all gluten, sugar, dairy, and most meat at the beginning of the new year. It will be a three month test trial to see how I feel. I will report back on the forum (if I am not institutionalized before then).

This decision was reinforced yesterday when I watched a video that I just happened to see in the local library: "Forks Over Knives"

Quote:FORKS OVER KNIVES examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the so-called "diseases of affluence" that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods. The idea of food as medicine is put to the test. Throughout the film, cameras follow "reality patients" who have chronic conditions from heart disease to diabetes. Doctors teach these patients how to adopt a whole foods plant-based diet as the primary approach to treat their ailments -- while the challenges and triumphs of their journeys are revealed.

http://www.amazon.com/Forks-Over-Knives-...ver+spoons

I highly recommend this video. You can buy it for about nine dollars on ebay, including shipping. I just sent a copy to someone. It is very red pill on health and nutrition.

I have anxiety pretty bad at times.
Try out a keto diet and see if that doesn't fix up pretty much everything.

I overcame super bad anxiety disorder and depression with this solution. Here's a good video I found at the doctors site http://www.howtoovercomepanic.com. It worked for me and I tried many ways that didn't work first including medication. I'm confident it can work for anyone fast. This was life changing for me. I did notice it priced $100 cheaper than when I got it last year so naybe there a holiday promotion now for Christmas. The doctor/psycholigist offers a lifetime money back guarantee so it's very credible with no risk too

I actually found almost all the suggestions very good. The only thing that I would be very cautious about is taking any illicit drug, such as magic mushrooms or pot. Many people develop anxiety problems in the first place by taking such drugs. The other thing is to try one thing at a time, if you can, rather than all at once -- so that you can determine what actually works and to avoid any negative synergistic effect.

Agree with Tail Gunner about drugs.

All serious psychotropic substances, whether illicit or prescription drugs, are very tricky and unpredictable. I don't doubt the testimony of Gio and others who have had positive experiences, but there are also plenty of horror stories to go along with that.

If a problem can be treated without recourse to these crude and risky chemical interventions, then they should be avoided. And that is definitely the case for something like anxiety.

Nascimento, The best way to wake up at a specific time is to keep a rigorously consistent sleeping schedule. Go to bed the same time every night, wake up the same time every morning. No exceptions, or almost none.

Once a schedule like this is entrained, even if you set an alarm if will be irrelevant because you will naturally wake up a few minutes before the alarm. Basically, you will entrain your body and brain to function as a natural alarm. There is nothing better than that for your sleep and overall health.

What fucks up a lot of guys is that they get up early the whole week, but then Friday and Saturday nights they're out all night and sleep in way past their weekday waking time Saturday and Sunday morning. So they can never really entrain a consistent schedule and on Monday morning the alarm jolts them from sleep all over again. It's not a great way to run your week, especially once you're no longer very young.

Using a light box helps -- I've written about this elsewhere, look it up.

I'm going to do a comprehensive post on sleep hygiene one of these days. But the long and the short of it is that you want to entrain yourself to a very consistent schedule and almost never violate it.

RE: Anyone beat anxiety?
Many great tips in the thread. I only wanted to make a point to take humor serious. If you are able to laugh at almost any given point and time than you probably will not feel anxiety.

So how to be able to lough? It´s probably like with music you have to find something which works. It needs some work to find out which kind of humor turns you on.

In my case for example I always looked for humor but I didn´t find a lasting one. At last by chance I found a radio show where two guys are so funny that I could say yes this is it. So I got the files and it works wonders.

But the more difficult part is reducing stress. That is something where a lot of constant work has to be put on.

I just spoke to my doctor about this issue recently and he said the same thing.

Another interesting point: He said that if you need more sleep (as many people do), slowly work into it. In other words, if your present routine is to go to sleep at midnight and wake up at 7:00 a.m. and you decide to go to sleep at 10:00 instead (but still wake up at 7:00 a.m.), spend a week slowly going to bed fifteen minutes earlier every day to give your body time to adjust (11:45, 11:30, 11:15, etc.).

There is a little trick.

Don't think of reducing stress as something that you "work" on. That way, it's just another chore that you have to worry about.

Instead, just let it go. Think of being stressed as one more thing in your life that you don't need, and let go of it.

This may seem like just playing with words, but it isn't.

It's not work, or adding one more task -- it's letting go of something.

Like having a weight you didn't even realize was there drop off your shoulders. Now you can breathe easier.
