I dont wear suits, but I basically have to have my shirts cleaned after each time I wear them out. Especially now that it will be heating up, don't be able to get away with wearing your shirt twice without washing it.

most button down shirts found in that part of the world are a much lighter material than a button down that I'd find back in New England. A good choice is a linen long sleeve button down over a beater or something

RE: Suit game in Asia
I have a few questions for you guys regarding suiting up in Asia....

I'm heading back to SEA for my third time, and want to upgrade from buttons ups. I'm going to spend at least two months in Manila, Saigon, Cambodia, then Bangkok before hitting up Shanghai.....

I have a decent pinstripe suit, and want to add another solid piece.

What's the word on the forum about getting a fitted suit in Asia (thailand, hong kong, etc)? Is it worth it to buy there, or am I better of going to Zara in america and getting it tailored?

Also, does anybody know about getting a suit in the Philippines?

Hong Kong is regarded as the best. 99% of places in Bangkok are garbage. Check out Narin Couture and Tailor on Ten. Tailor on Ten appears to have great fitting suits from what I see on their Facebook.

RE: Suit game in Asia
This shit is legit.

Verdict so far: Suit game works in Japan beyond any doubt.

I got a M2M suit made from the place I posted earlier. Was only around $300. Threw in a silk white square to experiment. Super simple.

Kind of conservative here but it comes in handy for business meetings

Have been wearing the suit to first dates and the response has been great so far. They are surprised by the contrast - I usually wear jeans and a v-neck to bars, so arriving for the date suited up with the square is like a shock to the system.

A few comments from girls:

Girl 1: "Erm..." (looks down at the floor) "I'm really not dressed up enough. Is it OK with you?"

Girl 1 again (end of date, at my place): "I don't know why, but I couldn't stop looking at your pocket handkerchief. So cool! I wish Japanese guys wore them more."

Girl 2: "Wow. I never really noticed before, but do all foreigners look this good in a suit?"

Girl 3: "You look amazing. All my friends prefer guys who wear a suit. But you are mine!"

etc etc...

My fear of being mistaken for a boring salaryman was overblown.

This experiment has gone so well that I'm going to buy more suits for the summer. So far I have been conservative about the colours but will branch out a bit and report back!

PM me for accommodation options in Bangkok.

I also get stupid amounts of compliments on my fashion, and am usually in the photographs at clubs. (95% of the time they only take photos of slutty women to lure men into the joint. It's rare that guys get featured).

Yeah man same here down in Taichung, the one club Vivo takes my picture and puts it on their promo every time, because I'm foreign and usually wearing a blazer. Nothing close to a model type dude. You definitley get points for dressing well out here.
