RE: Why is the Manosphere anti-Vegan?
Where is your ancestry from? From what part of the world is your blood line?

What did your ancestors eat? We're they Eskimos who consumed raw fish all year or were they from the Caribbean and ate fruit and roots all day everyday?

Find what works best for you. Everyone is different.

One thing I'm pretty sure of is none of the ancestors ate pigs, cows or chickens from overcrowded commercial slaughter houses.

More importantly how do you feel right after you eat? How do you feel 30 minutes after you eat? How do you feel an hour after you eat?

Take a log. After a steak and potatoe dinner are you tired or filled with energy?

My point didn't get across that well, so I'm in agreement here.

I don't think it should matter to the manosphere what people eat. If eating meat makes you feel like more of a man, eat meat. I just didn't get why the manosphere, as a whole, disapproved of vegans.

Though I think it would be nice if more people ate vegan, since obesity is on the rise.

Eating meat doesn't equal obesity.
Being a fucking lazy piece of shit who eats more than they expend is obesity. There are plenty of fat vegans/vegetarians on dating sites, so being veggie doesn't automatically cure laziness.

I don't care that others are vegan, but I really wish they would knock off the holier-than-thou routine and are pushing their eating habits on everyone else.

There are fat vegans for sure, but when you ask these people what vegetables they actually eat, they don't have much to say beyond the mushrooms they put on top of their soy-cheese pizza (and mushrooms are technically a fungus).

My point is: There are many people who are only vegan in name, only vegan on paper, they don't eat a plant-centric diet, they eat garbage. And I wish they'd stop calling themselves vegan simply because they don't consume animal products.

They stopped eating meat to save the animals, not primarily to improve their health.

This does not make sense to me at all.

All of the top athletes around the world eat meat. Top fitness competitors eat meat. Everyone who I have seen with a superior body eats meat.

To me, it looks like not eating meat works against health goals.

(12-10-2013 11:36 PM)deathtofatties Wrote:  Every other time I read my Twitter feed, some prominent blogger from the manosphere will tweet something about how veganism is unmanly, or associate veganism with feminist hipster culture. They reinforce this with the notion that "meat is for men!" But is that truly so? Does this sentiment hold water on empirical level?

I haven't found any conclusive evidence that it's necessary to eat any meat whatsoever to maintain or increase testosterone levels, the opposite seems to be true (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2374537/).
Eating too much saturated fat from animal sources can lead to erectile dysfunction (which isn't very masculine). See: http://www.nature.com/ijir/journal/v18/n...1438a.html

Trying to build muscle? You don't need to eat any meat.
http://nutritionfacts.org/video/plant-ba...ybuilding/

As a man that describes himself as a vegan, I'm confused by the anti-vegan sentiment. Veganism is just a blanket term that many people use to quickly identify themselves as a person that eats an exclusively plant based diet, in other words, a person that abstains from consuming anything derived from an animal source. This is why I call myself a vegan, and personally eating this way was a health related choice; I don't vibe with the kumbaya PETA crowd, far from it. I'm a gun loving libertarian guy that reads manosphere blogs daily.

I am well aware that the slightest utterance of the word "vegan" conjures up images of scrawny hipsters, new age hippies, and head-shaved pansexual feminists. It's apparent that veganism has an image problem, but I'd rather not let these disgusting losers co-opt the term veganism as part of their collective, anti-hetero identity.

Whether women like it or not, they follow our lead as men. We have to set a good example for women to follow. If more men ate a plant based diet, I think women would feel more pressure to check their dietary habits. They'd stand out eating garbage. You would see fewer instances of obesity in men, which would be followed by fewer instances of obesity in women.
Your link to meat and testosterone levels is broken, but, from what I spent time studying in school, it seemed that processed meats and meats with preservatives are heavy in dangerous shit that leads to common problems most people (vegans in particular) associate with meat. Same goes for things such as milks and eggs, but if you're eating them organically, that problem should not exist. However, the trick is also moderation, heavy consumption of meats every day is not the best for you, but having some meats in your diet weekly IS good.

In addition, meats and animal products are a great source of vitamin B12. Taking b12 synthetically is linked to pancreatic cancer, and the neurological effects (either positive or negative) of this vital nutrient being supplemented synthetically are yet to be completely understood. In addition, it seems much harder to get choline from non-animal sources, but it is entirely possible to get them.

From a moral standpoint, it just seems silly to be a vegan when you can have a well rounded organic diet. Most studies I've read from vegans pointing to the flaws of meat were usually discussing processed meats filled with preservatives, or the studies looked at the effects of heavy meat consumption, which in excess, can be bad for your body. Also, I only say silly because there is more evidence to suggest that humans are omnivorous then herbivores. However, I say omnivorous in a way that suggests that we're better suited to consume both meats and plant-based foods in moderation then eat only meat, or eat only plant-based diets.

But, if this diet works for you, then good for you, but as it stands I think my frustration with veganism in the manosphere, and many other gentlemen of the manosphere, is that I've encountered many vegans (and vegetarians) that like to present self-supporting research (which is often misinterpreted, or flawed) to rationalize their choice as a vegan or vegetarian to be the normal way of living, just like feminism likes to present eqaulism in the sexes as the normal way of living. If this life choice works for you, then by any means, do it, but from a human evolutionary and physiological standpoint, I do not see veganism or vegetarianism as normal.

Simple solution: shops and supermarkets sell fruit, veg, dairy. If you want meat you have to go out and hunt it. Ta da, less people eating meat, fatties lose weight, people take exercise, women need men again ('cos killing is icky and stuff).

RE: Why is the Manosphere anti-Vegan?
Why so mocked?

Probably because veganism is associated with hippy, "peace and love" types.

That and meats are a natural part of our diet and men who lack meats may become testosterone deficient.

I've heard of some vegan bodybuildiers, and not against it personally since plant based foods are often cheaper than meats; that and modern meat industry is somewhat cruel to animals.

Hunting animals who are allowed to roam free in their natural habitat I definitely respect; buying them in a can at Wal-Mart isn't particularily macho.

Main trick I've heard is getting all of your essential amino acids; to do it as a vegan you have to eat a wide variety of plant protein sources (while meat eaters can get all of their amino acids from meats alone).

RE: Why is the Manosphere anti-Vegan?
Unfortunately, many vegans are just overbearing, self-righteous children.

You can always tell who is a vegan because they just can't go 1 minute without bringing it up.

"bro, i found this paleo/vegan farm in Minnesota that uses free-range ex-hookers to plant the seeds that they use for growing sweet potatoes. But get this: the seeds are shipped in from special needs families in Brazil!1!!1!!1"

I am always tempted to say grow up and leave me alone.

Vegans often talk about how much hate they get, but a lot of the hate they get is because they won't stop trying to make non-vegans convert to their viewpoint. I'm going to eat meat and animals because I want to.

Who the fuck has time to mix and match a bijillion different beans so that I can get the same protein profile I could get from a simple piece of chicken or beef. Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

Meat eaters almost never bring up eating meat or anything. We eat our meals and go on with our lives. The manosphere isn't anti-vegan. Vegans are actively against non-vegans which causes their annoying shit to get called out by better, stronger meat eaters.

Vegans are like trannys. They're consumed with only one aspect of their identity to such a degree that it becomes the only identity they have.

Fully agree with Master Quinton here.
A traveler or migrating being has to be flexible and adapt to what is available and offered.
I agree with him that people are free to make their choices in what they consume and /or fornicate as they should allow others to be free themselves.
The vegan Creed However , much like feminism, dons a head dress of tolerance and equality while in fact being a culture of extremist discrimination based purely on an elitist notion.
I think this is the reason why it inspires spite and scorn from many in our own ranks of people seeking if not "the truth" a panóptico of perspectives in order to be able to better achieve our goals...

We move between light and shadow, mutually influencing and being influenced through shades of gray...

It more has to do with the kind of people who proudly rant, race, and profess veganism - often leftist virtue signalers who are vegans for "moral" reasons. Included are college sjw students and progressive soccer moms.

These types tend to talk mad shit to those of us brutally eating animals.

Now My dad is actually a vegan for dietary reasons and lost 100 pounds doing it - as well as reversing type 2 diabetes in the process. He's a paleo conservative and a definite exception.

When he went go to some kind of vegan conference, they were many hippie Progressive educated types there.

Not entirely related but I noticed that a very large number of people who are lacking in "animal empathy" tend to be of the anti-meat activism type.

We'd all agree what makes most Vegans insufferable is they are fucking sanctimonious pricks about it. They have to broad (heh)cast the fact loudly and often. They're rarely the picture of health either.
