Something tells me in ten years we're all gonna find out the NSA has been watching us all masturbate for... uh... national security.

Now, I'm trying to figure out if there is a way I can rip the camera and mic out of my mac. Anyone know how to do this?

I'm sure the manosphere is on some watchlist. We already know the police monitor twitter and facebook. Who is to say that you won't get raided for "hate speech." Plus, there are probably a number of feminazis who'd like to know the real identity of ROK writers.

Focus: What security steps do you take to protect your privacy? To protect your anonymity online? Your cell phone?

1. Put a piece of athletic tape over the lens when you're not using your webcam.
2. Dock your laptop when you're using it at home.

Old news.... Don't forget anything that has a camera or mic can be turned on to spy on you... Including your Xbox, playstation, cable digital box...

That is why the canadian government banned analog technology now... Old cable systems couldn't spy on you, but now they can keep tabs on you whenever they want

I have always put band-aids over my webcam. But watch out because the new computers also make it difficult to turn off a mike that is built into the computer. You have to do it by software, and it still might not be off. You can't trust them as we now know from Snowden, these high tech companies will do anything the government wants and put in backdoors. I wouldn't be suprised if the NSA could turn on the mike anytime they want. It would be nice to know a hardware solution to just cut the mike out of your computer.

This is why I build my own computers, with USB webcams and USB microphones so I can simply unplug them whenever I'm not using them. Better be safe than sorry.

As for my laptop, I barely use it and when I do use it I'm usually not even connected to the internet with it, so I'm not worried.

Besides, what would to government or NSA gain from spying on me? I have nothing to hide, or at least nothing that would interest them.

Yeah thats what everyone says.... But guess what, one day you might become big and important or invent something that changes the course of mankind.... Next thing you know the NSA comes knocking and wants a piece of the action or you are blackmailed because of that tranny porn you decided to check out....

Anyone can get into your computer and turn on you camera.
