Fiancee game (even without death or tragic ending) really works great for me, in fact sometimes it even works too great: I've had a woman develop a serious complex over how I was willing to propose to an ex, but not to her, leading to quite some drama.

It would work but not just on sixes, think about it all romance books like 50 shades of grey, the chick is always plane looking so its easier for persons to slip themselves as her. Give the dude some fame because some tragic bullshit and ta da, mass appeal.
