First year they have Black Friday here in Poland.

The holiday makes absolutely no fucking sense here. There's no Thanksgiving, thus no long weekend, so no reason to go shopping on Friday. People are at work, or getting drunk immediately afterward.

Incredible how much has changed in the few years I've been here. Last year I had to explain to everyone I know what Black Friday is, because they've never heard of it.

The deals are ridiculously bad too. It's all discounts on no-name brands you would never pay full price for anyway.

Also, TV's are on sale. Why would anyone buy a TV on black friday? I don't understand this. If you need a TV, you would go out and buy one. Is anyone literally waiting an entire year without a TV just so they can get a good deal on BF? Or are people just buying extra TV's and putting them in their bedroom/bathroom/outside only because they get a discount on it?

It always amazes me to see children out on Black Friday, especially after seeing videos like that and hearing news reports of injuries and people getting trampled to death.

It's one thing if someone decides to go out and fight through the insanity on Black Friday. Have at it if you desire. Something else entirely if they subject their kid to that.

When you work at a retail company like I do, this week is huge for sales and gathering momentum for Christmas. I do agree it goes overboard but we are glad people are still coming to the store rather than "showrooming" and giving that business to amazon.
