Well..the Latvian wife is gonna have to pay off now...
As a few of you guys know from my first thread, "I married a Latvian." Well, just yesterday I became unemployed for the first time ever. We have no kids, zero debt, even without my paycheck, we still have plenty...my wife is a VP...yep..I got lucky in my Latvian....Soooo...long story short...I tell her that I am going to travel Europe for like 4 weeks, or go spend 2 months in Medellin and Buenos Aires to learn Spanish.....How many American Wives would look at you and laugh or tell you to F Off? My Latvian wife...says ok...but you had better not come back and not want to be married anymore....You can take the Latvian out of Latvia but you can't take the Latvian out of the Woman.....BTW, she is 9 years younger than me, 5'9" about 125-130 pounds....I almost giggle a bit when she says the stuff about me leaving her....but that's an E European wife for you.
Based on the paragraph above, knowing I am married, happily, and my budget is $10K...
-Europe for a month OR
-Goto S America, thinking Buenos Aires or Medellin and learning Spanish for 2 months.
Thanks guys....and remember NEVER EVER, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT ever marrying an American girl..

You're happily (!) married and just have decided to go to SA/ Europe for a month to bang chicks, and still have that boldness to call out girls that wouldn't accept that.
That's not what marriage is about.
NOOOOOO....I said that I was happily married at the end of the post, to say I am not out to bang chicks in a more nuanced manner....I am looking for a travel experience of a lifetime for a month or two...that I never thought I would have a chance to do...I never thought I would be unemployed..but life was good to me and gave me this time..
Thoughts and what you would do travelwise from the two choices I was down to?
And the 10K doesn't involve flights...I have 300K in miles with American for the flights.

Oh I'm sorry, I just understood you wrong!
Well to be honest, in Europe it will be pretty cold until March/April, so you'd be freezing your ass off most of the time you're outside.
Also expect lack of sun, lot of grey sky and rain. (Unless you'll be in Barcelona or Sicily)
But I don't know how important weather is to you, and what kind of cultural experience you prefer.

Yes, the only goal in the loss column was the time of year would be winter in Europe, but I figured I had to leave Europe in there because you guys get to travel places for months and I read all the stuff, but for a 40 year old guy and a 31 year old wife, no kids, no debt...etc...figured I would work to the day I retired and at most take a 2 week vacation. This is a blessing I never thought I would get and I just want to make the most out of it.

If you love something set it free, if it leaves and then comes back it tried to do better but decided to just settle for you.
Any opinions i was thinking Buenos Aires and Medellin or spain italy greece and Paris
why don't you ask her to meet you for part of the trip somewhere? Since you have no kids just wondering what the hell she's going to be doing while you are gone. She has some vacation time coming right?
I have done a lot of traveling alone abroad and it gets boring fast if you don't settle down somehwere for awhile. I guess if you are gaming night in and night out in Kiev or Manilla, or haning out learning Spanish in Barcelona or wherever it might be ok, but sounds like you're on a 'life experience' sorta ride and want to see things, not just [email protected] girls. Going out in xyz town on random Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights week in and week out in some unknonw place can get pretty old just like staying in at home can.
So if you're going somewhere for up to 2 months I'd consider having her come visit in the middle - might be a nice change back to something familiar for you too. Never been married and you've been in this realtionship for quite awhile but so assume the bonds are very strong between the two of you, but EVERY expat I know who's lived in Moscow and left the wife and kids back home for extended periods of time has gotten divorced. That's over a longer period of time of course though. And its ususally bc they drifted apart and inevitably the guy found some younger, much hotter and more feminine women here that just blew his wife out of the water....with you it's a little different story.
Just my 2 cents. Again I've never been married. And on the one hand I want to compliment your wife on her flexibilty, but on the other maybe there's something going on/and or she might be somewhat confused/angy at you about your intentions and why you're doing this (but not openly showing that to you) which could become an issue.
