So this Fed system has to collapse sooner or later right?
What are your ideas on what we can do to protect our bank accounts in the USA?
As an SEA expat what is your plan? I know folks buy and sell physical gold in those parts, but what about having bank account with other currencies like RMB or Euros?
Like Sawyer says, the Sandy Hook event itself is not going to change our lives but if it turns out to be true that the whole things was a hoax, this has implications that are of more importance to every citizen of the WORLD than any other issue we may be currently dealing with.
How would it affect our lives? We would need to become politicized again, like public protestors and activists in the 1960s were. We have all been pacified by distraction.
From the English writer, John Berger's "Ways of Seeing":
"In the cities in which we live, all of us see hundreds of publicity images every day of our lives. No other kind of image confronts us so frequently. In no other form of society in history has there been such a concentration of images, such a density of visual messages."
"One may remember or forget these messages but briefly one takes them in, and for a moment they stimulate the imagination by way of either memory or expectation. The publicity image belongs to the moment. We see it as we turn a page, as we turn a corner, as a vehicle passes us. Or we see it on a television screen while waiting for the commercial break to end."
"Publicity turns consumption into a substitute for democracy. The choice of what one eats (or wears or drives) takes the place of significant political choice. Publicity helps to mask and compensate for all that is undemocratic within society."
As for what we can do to protect ourselves, I don't think the Fed system will collapse - they have planned this for years, they are in the strongest position ever, the entire United States and all it's people through taxation, owes every cent they have back to the Fed in interest repayments and paying off the capital. The United States is fucked, the Fed is not!
If the dollar collapses, this is the perfect scenario for the money men to suggest a more stable, globally controlled currency like the SDRs (Special Drawing Rights) - they want a one-world currency. They want to end paper and metal money. What a great opportunity they have now to propose it. Why do we need paper money if we all use plastic and online accounts anyway? That's what they will say.
But for now, my money is in GBP not US Dollars. The Euro is totally bust, how quickly we forget the news? Only a few month back the entire world almost collapsed due to the problems in Europe - they haven't gone away! Nothing is better!
RMB - there currency is not floated yet and I don't trust China full-stop - they are a gang of thugs.
Swiss Franc may be a stable currency. Perhaps Canadian dollars or Aussie / Kiwi dollars.
As for gold, yes, I think it's prudent to physically possess gold but that is really for end-of-the-world scenario planning! The Chinese have been buying gold like it's going out of fashion - they know the dollar is fucked. They are bitter at the US as most of China's reserve currency was the US Dollar. They are dumping it like crazy now as are many other countries. The Chinese already was buying Euros over Dollars but then had to sell the Euros - all these currencies are screwed as they are so interconnected. Gold is gold. It's always been valuable as there isn't much of it in the world.
When currencies implode, everyone runs to precious metals. Don't forget, the US recently put off the debt ceiling debate but it must be addressed again on February 7, 2014.
I wouldn't be surprised if between now and then you see a climb in the cost of gold again and when the shit hits the fan, either a massive spike up for gold, or a huge sell-off as the professional gold traders will already have this date fixed in their minds and are consolidating NOW in order to sell to the dumb money THEN.
But don't take my word for this, I am an amateur observer and still learning all the time.
It is very difficult to know what to do with one's money - depends how much one has. Most people are broke, so for them, it's not going to make much of a difference anyway!
For those with cash, physical gold (in ones own possession, not in a bank vault), cheap property with room to grow (most likely abroad), money held in more stable nations currencies (the ones I stated) or, become an expert in the Forex and keep your money in a trading account denominated in something other than the US Dollar and keep trading, ever increasing your net-worth. If the dollar implodes, it will be a great time to sell the dollar and buy other currencies with it.
Of interest, here is what a Chinese news report had to say to the US - a telling sign that the world power is shifting away from the United States (but is the power control in the US even controlled by the US populous? I don't think so, just an international cartel of thieves - anyway):
