In the story I related in my last thread, this girl I went out with the previous night took a book from my desk the next day. She hasn't returned or even mentioned it again since then (and I haven't asked for it back, yet). Then there was this other chick who often hovers around me who took another book with her to read "for a weekend" 2 or 3 weeks ago who said "i'll take it to Miami with me and give it back when I return, pleaseeee" when I asked her to hand it back.

This got me thinking today. I've encountered this phenomenon so many times -- girls taking small things from me, and kinda holding them hostage -- that they just fly by me and I always fail to take notice until I realize this today. You name it, chocolate bars, souvenirs|trinkets from my travels, promo pens, colored chart printouts for work, boyish toys (action figures), and one time even my "cute" computer mouse, etc, and yeah books.

What's with this behavior? Is it like saying "come talk to me if you want it back?" or some kind of screening for provider traits? or territorial marking among competing females?

I always want my important stuff back and press them for it but if they're trivial I usually just let them go.

And yes, if I am interested in a girl I use that as a prop for scheming my way inside the pants. Its always good to understand the motivation behind the behavior though.

I got all this nice soap for free somehow. Malin and Goetz, really nice stuff, smells like fucking gold, I love the shit. My stupid ex stole it all when she took her stuff out(clothes, tampons, etc). Fucking soap. I think the only way to fix that is always push to be at their place, at least thats what I do.

Natural female caprice. Get men to do things for her.

Every time a chick takes something from you that she does not need, ask yourself this -

Are you fucking her?
Are you platonic friends?
Are you family?

If you answered no to all three(hell, even if you answered yes), a thumb rule is never give her anything for free.

Every time a girl comes to you to borrow something, always ask for something in return.

A good rule of thumb is to ask for an abstract thing or "experience" if she's asking for a material object, and a material object in case she asks for something abstract

She asks you if she can borrow your action figure/book?
Sure, but you need to buy a present for you sister... could she come along?

She tells you her computer is giving her problems and needs your help to debug.?
Sure. Can she cook? You really miss your mother's scrambled eggs.

She wants to borrow a "book" of you?
Sure thing, but put your cheek forward and point to it. Unless she finds you repellent, she'll be delighted to kiss you. Then put your other cheek forward. Act gracious, yet cocky.

She'll remember you for being different from the other guys, and the ego/time/material investment she makes in "borrowing" stuff from you will make her more likely to return them too.

Of course, the counter demand you make should be proportional.
Don't ask her for an LCD Plasma screen TV if she wants to borrow your cute little mouse.

Erm, if the girl is attractive, I would just say "sure, but you have to go out on a date with me this evening"

If she is ugly, just asks if she can borrow something just say, "Maybe, what can you offer in return?" If the offer is good, say "yes", but if the offer is bad, say "no".

I was at a bar last weekend and chatted up this girl who grabbed a pair of sunglasses I had in my jacket pocket and put them on. She did this a few times, and every time I'd have to sneak-attack her and grab them off her face. It was a good time to be playful, and also to be dominant as you try and take back what's rightfully yours.

Towards the end of the night she kissed me on the lips and gave me her number. And as a last ditch effort she grabbed my sunglasses and told me she was taking them home with her. I told her if she gave me another kiss I'd think about it. Rather than kiss me she full on made out with me. She leaned in for one more kiss and said "Thanks for the glasses" as she pulled them out of my pocket. Just to get the upper hand I then grabbed them back. I tried to talk her into coming home with me, but she got really cold after I took the glasses back and left with her friends.

I view this kind of stuff as a shit test - They want to see how subservient you'll be. Like Sharkie said, if a girl isn't all that close to you then don't do anything nice for her. This is the domain of the mangina and beta male. Don't buy her drinks, don't lend her anything, don't get up and do anything unless it's for yourself or a male friend. In my case my sunglasses were dime-a-dozen wayfarers I got for $5 on the street, nothing special. This was a huge IOI because if she REALLY needed sunglasses she could've waited till the next day to pick some up at any discount store or gas station. Things didn't pan out with her, but oh well. I stood my ground and didn't give up any of my belongings to a stranger.

(P.S.: If you meet a girl who gets off on really stereotypical beta/mangina behavior, RUN!!! These girls are usually crazy and predatory and purposely try and find weak partners so they can use them as emotional and verbal punching bags)

70% of times I had that experience with girls who i figured were used as pumps and dumps, so this is a strategy for them to make you contact them again because the dudes before didn't.

25% are nice girls who legitimately want to see you because they like you, and 5% are either kleptomaniacs or weird trophy hunters that will tape your picture on the object and store it in the "guys I fucked" folder when they get home.
