I've been away from the forum for a few months because of business, but just wanted to ping anyone in Jakarta now: Will be there from August 19-24, Bangkok from Aug 25-29 and back in Jakarta for the weekend of August 29-31. Have some local friends and am traveling there with my meathead cousin but would be fun to meet up with forum members.

I'm in JKT right now. I won't be when you get here booshala but a quick heads up, dress code at X2 is pretty strictly enforced. I dont know if they have changed the rules recently or something but I got denied entry twice, once for wearing a tshirt and once for wearing a pair of black Lacoste shoes instead of dress shoes. Had to taxi back to my apartment to change. I was bouncing around a few different clubs(Exodus and Red Square) and none of them took issue with my footwear but X2 stopped me.

The place isnt snobby at all once you are inside though and the girls are DTF. Saw plenty of bule there but it didnt seem to matter much, I went 3 times and pulled twice. The time I didnt pull was a Thursday and it was dead.

Echo, the place is nice but I showed up there(Exodus) at about 12 on Saturday and it was dead. Mat Zo was at Dragonfly so that might have stolen some of the party people away but I guarantee X2 was still buzzing at that time(should have just gone directly there). As I was leaving I got eye fucked a few times by girls who were there with other guys so I almost turned around to stay. I was getting a ton of attention(staring/eye fucking) from the girls but they were mostly locked away in groups with older herbs. The place has a shit layout because they dedicate a ton of space to huge circular booths that are reservation only. The dance floor is decent sized but it was a ghost town. I decided to bounce to another club(Prive) and then come back since I had my hand stamped already. Long story short....came back around 1 or 130 and the place had filled up. At first I was thinking great I'm all set and then realized it was all guys. I stayed for one drink and bounced to X2. Something weird about this night because it was the only night I went out that the clubs had such bad ratio's, Ill talk about Prive in a second.

Side note, as I was leaving I get in the elevator and 3 white chicks, maybe 6's at best(clearly FSU), get in behind me. I start talking to them, find out they are from Ukraine, and get attitude when I don't immediately answer their questions about where I'm from. I just asked them to try to guess and the response was like I asked for a BJ. At that point though I couldn't have cared less and just gave a smirk and an eye roll. After being in this city for a while zero fucks are given about this type of thing.

As for Prive, I didnt even make it inside. While I was waiting in a short line to pay the cover the elevator door opened and a bunch(easily 15) dudes poured out. Then, I wish I could have had a video recording because it was a perfect Vine video, the OTHER elevator opens and even more dudes come out of that one. My buddy and I just started cracking up and hit the down button to bounce. They all prob thought we were crazy but the whole entrance to the club was now packed full of Indonesian dudes and not one girl in sight. I didnt even want to pay to go in at that point thinking I should have just gone to X2 from the start. Of course X2 was dope as usual with tons of hot chicks. I am pissed I didnt get to try Immigrant.

Red Square.
IMO this place is beat. Its already been negatively reviewed by other forum members and I agree with them. Smaller than I expected and you always have to think about if the girl you're talking to is working. Also, the wrong kind of white people go there. I went once and wont go back. One thing worth mentioning is that X2 closes at 3 or so and Red Square stays open. Its right across the street so if you strikeout at X2 you could potentially get lucky and pull from Red Square.
An example of this on Friday night, I pulled from X2 at about 2 or so and bounced back to my apartment. My buddy ended up striking out at X2 and went across the street to Red Square and pulled a chick. This girl's friend drove him and the girl to her apartment and just says "take care of her, goodbye". Wow I am actually surprised by the first part. I wonder how random dudes even know enough to get the impression that Jakarta would be lay city. Of course from this forum, and some could hear about it from bragging friends who randomly came here, but it's surprising that the information is disseminated that widely. I defer to the masses on that as I could likely be way off base but I thought that was a big part of the reason I get grilled with "Why are you here?" type questions since its not really a hot tourist spot. I haven't been entirely truthful with my responses to those questions, maybe that's why I've done alright.

As for the lame dudes with no style who are bringing low value/boring game and getting clowned, sounds spot on. Thanks for the insights from your Indonesian friends, it must be fun for them to troll people because its so easy. I haven't been here long enough to understand the dynamic yet but that is interesting. In my mind, a random tourist killing it with 8's and 9's doesn't seem realistic anywhere, and anyone, except for veteran players or celebrities, who expects that is delusional. It seems that living here is key to higher tier talent as it would be for anywhere else. Still, my thought is that regardless of how hot the girls are, if a guy is bringing shit game/no value he would likely still succeed at a higher level here than in the west where it would be a train wreck.

Great info, Journey... appreciate the heads up on the scene nowadays. Good point on the stay vs play thing which I think I have a few things going for me: I have some experience dating Chinese-Indo's along with a hi-so Indo that I've done business with in the past. My cover story is that I'm in the hospitality industry and that I'm coming to CGK to set up an office and eventually move there. I've been in restaurants/hotels in the past, so it's pretty easy to talk the talk if they press.

I've been doing a little bit of scouting for trip ideas, and after a cursory look around OKCupid, I've concluded that Indonesian girls check off nearly all of my exotic beauty traits.

I'd want to balance time between a few days in JKT and a bunch of days exploring nature. I'd be looking to smash some of the real stunners only. Just how accessible are these types of women to non-Indo men?

Take for example the case of Rio. While there is some incredible beauty in the city, it is extraordinarily difficult to get your hands on some of the top looking girls because of the social circle nature and the fact that the culture is extremely stratified. Money, game or style wasn't the issue, it was more the access to them as an outsider. Does this happen in JKT?

If you feel like there are many stunners on OkCupid, then you will be in paradise, once you arrive here. I have filtered to only see the girls that have been online the last days and are not super shy. There are hardly any stunners left. Some 6s and 7s and a very few better ones. Gili is legit. The party scene on Gili T is not as intense as Bali and I don't even recall the mushroom culture you get in Kuta. When I was there it was a party every other night at rotating bars because with all the dive shops they want to keep it quiet so ppl can go to sleep. Even on weekends it would be a party on Fri night then quiet on Sat night. The nights they did have parties it was a lot of guys, but that happens in Kuta too. Still a lot of hot Euro chicks and less of the Aussie vibe that you get in Bali. The island is nice and you can bike around it and snorkel/swim all over the place. The water is much more clear and blue than what I've seen in Bali. It is a small place so it can get a bit boring after a few days in my opinion. You literally can bike around it in under 1-2 hours so that sort of gets boring. Also, things are a bit more expensive than Bali since everything has to be shipped over.

Brodiaga is right online is a great. Sunday to Tuesday good luck finding a club with people. The bars still have people but its harder for me personally to pull from bars on a weeknight and Kemang is OK but I had zero luck there. I met all different kinds of girls from Indonesian Cupid. The official limit is 1 liter, anything above that is at your own risk. Don't know how often they search bags - I flew 2 times and never got searched. Here is what I would do: put a 1L bottle in a suitcase wrapped in a towel, then buy another 1L at a duty free shop and carry with you to the cabin. That way, at least you won't have 2 liters at the same place and will be less likely to raise suspicions

Alcohol really is the budget killer in Jakarta: NYC prices for cocktails at a nice bar, although you definitely get huge economies of scale if you nut up and buy a bottle. Can always "bottle keep" it if the place you're going to is a repeat joint.

I brought 2 liters of Belvedere, I put one liter in a shampoo bottle and another in a listerine bottle. I then bought a liter of scotch at duty free.

I didn't get searched at all. If I had to do it again I would've bought 3 liters at duty free, and maybe put them in different bags. There's something unappetizing about pouring drinks from a shampoo bottle.
