The cheapest option is a minibus which you can book at your hotel. I took it from Kuta to Ubud and paid around 60K if I remember correctly. No air conditioner, stops on the way to pick up other tourists, takes much longer. An air conditioned taxi is much more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

If it's a decent private room in Kemang, the price is very good.

If you're on a budget, you can just hang out in Kemang and save money on taxis and clubs, because the clubs in Kemang cater to younger people and are cheaper than the likes of Dragonfly and X2.

Tipsy has relatively cheap bottle service. At Venue, I remember paying something like 50K for a glass of vodka soda, which is cheap for a JKT night club. You'll pay like 100-120 or more for a weaker drink at X2 or Dragonfly.

Watch your pockets in Kemang clubs, though. Lower prices attract shadier characters.

RE: Brodiaga in Indonesia and Thailand
I read about 65% of the thread so far, some great info.

Would you suggest I carry my passport on me at all times as I dont fancy paying a bribe? or did you just get really unlucky.

Where do you exchange money? How is the conversions, good or bad? Is their a black market to convert cash? I ask because I have a credit card that gives me almost XE.com rates with 0% fees but I will have to pay whatever the cash machine charges usually $5-6, and I think I lose another 1.2% on the conversion.

I am going to book that hotel in Kemang for 1 week, I think i may stay in Jakarta a bit longer though, do you think 2 weeks is fine in Kemang or would I get better experience if I mix it up? I am a budget traveler if that makes any difference.

In another note, $120 for bottle service is quite a lot. I think in most clubs in Bangkok it about $35-60, and I would only ever use bottle service when I was in BKK.

I think I got very unlucky when I had to pay a bribe. It was late at night. I would carry a copy of the passport including the visa page, just in case, but that's because I'm very afraid of losing my passport and generally never carry it anywhere.

The best option is to use debit cards to get cash from ATMs and chip and pin credit cards where they are accepted (supermarkets, convenience stores, high end restaurants, etc). No black currency market I am aware of. You can find currency exchanges too, but unlike in BKK, they are few and far between.

Are you going anywhere else in Indonesia? I would suggest 1 week in Jakarta and 1 week in Bali if you haven't been there before: maybe 3-4 days in Seminyak and 3 days in Ubud. Or you can decide after the first few days in Jakarta how much longer you want to stay there. Some people like it, others don't. If you decide to go to Ubud, I would go there during the week and spend Friday and Saturday nights either in Jakarta or Kuta/Seminyak, because there's not much nightlife in Ubud anyway.

Last time I was in Jakarta, I spent almost 2 weeks there except for a weekend trip to Bandung and a one night stopover in HK. Even though I had a lot of fun, perhaps I should have traveled a little bit more.

I land in Ubud next week (22nd) and I am their for a week.

I wanted to do something like Bali> Surabaya*>yogyakarta>Jakarta

*Not sure about this place, havent heard anybody mention if its worth going.

I want to land in Bangkok on around the 16-18th of June. So I pretty much have from the 22nd May-18th June to play around in Indo.

I'm not sure hows best to divide my time yet.

Other than Bali and Jakarta, I've only been to Bandung and wouldn't say I can highly recommend it for a solo traveler, though it may be fun to spend a few days there if you have enough time.

If I had a few weeks, I would probably take the train and explore secondary cities in Indonesia. Yogyakarta is also a popular destination.

You can also go to Gili Islands from Bali. I heard good things about Gili Travangan (spell?), but only from chicks. Apparently a great place to party and smoke weed, but probably not very good for pulling Indo girls.

I am curious to hear why Bandung is not a good choice for solo travelers.

Edit: About Surabaya. It Is a big city with lots of hot girls and many places for day gaming, while the city itself is not the most beautiful one. I could imagine staying there for a week and getting work done during the day while meeting with chicks in the evening and then take one of them on a trip to the vulcano.

I just didn't notice anything special about Bandung. It's just a secondary city in a developing country: bad traffic, no public transport, pretty dirty, difficult to get around, not many English speakers. Probably worth checking out if you have a lot of time and want to explore the country, may be even worth staying there for awhile given that the rent is cheaper than in JKT.

I do not have much experiences in both cities, but comparing Jakarta to Bandung after a few days I only see advances though.

- Much better climate and easy to get out into the mountains to relax
- Cheaper
- Less traffic, even though it still sucks
- Many girls from Jakarta who come and leave for the weekend to have fun

Of course it is smaller, but this just reduces the traffic problems and I think there will still be enough cool places and hot girls to stay entertained. The language problem should not be worse than in other parts, as Bandung has a pretty decent university.

I m the airport waiting to check in.... Noooooo. I guess every good thing have have an end....

Two tips who come in my mind : there a very good money changer in grand indonesia 3rd floor.

Use express cab they are cheaper i think.

I think i m regretting to not have been in Bandung by train. I think next time i will avoid jakarta and move somewhere else. Jakarta is the worst city for the trafic so far. Even consider Bangkok as fluide trafic lol. But girls.... I strongly advice u guys to go in Denbeham in senayan plaza department store it s like paradise on earth in week day... All u can eat buffet lol they are starring at you like crazy...

One of the girl of Jakarta came with me in yogyakarta it was pretty fun for 4 days !

They are really fun and i really love their style.

I will writte more when i get back to hell oups Paris.

Bandung: the slogan "Kota Kembang" has truly accurate for this city. Means "flower city", I think flower means pretty girls. Their skin are brighter than other cities as It used to be a cold weather. I never had chances spending more than 2 days in this city, so you might need dig a little deeper about some stuff.
Clubs are closed at 12.00 due to gangster motorcycle, they were a lot and very dangerous tho happened in night (most cases). Many universities here too. Price is slightly lower than Jakarta. Jakarta is the most expensive city just like Bali and Papua.

Surabaya: The biggest red district in SEA.. I repeat The Fucking Biggest!!
Never been to this city, tho. I can't talk much. Price is cheaper than Jakarta, indeed. The skin is pretty much like Philpinas tho Surabaya is metropolitan city, it's mixed.

It's awesome to have an Indonesian expert join this thread. What other places in Indonesia would you recommend for beaches, sightseeing, nightlife and game in general?

I would love to find a place with nice beaches and a lot of local girls looking for a fling. I haven't yet found such a place in Indonesia or anywhere else. Usually, you either get nice beaches (Puhket, Samui in Thaliand, parts of Bali in Indonesia, etc) or many available girls (Jakarta in Indonesia, Bangkok in Thailand, etc).

I've read through this entire thread as well as Soma's. Amazing stuff. Im planning a 2-3 week trip to Jakarta and want to make sure I nail my logistics.
It seems that staying near Plaza Indo/Grand Indo(Thamrin) or near Senayan Plaza is my best bet. On or close to Jl Thamrin/Sudirman. I want to book on Airbnb(PM me is you have any intel on places you stayed). I'm considering Kemang as well but I didn't see many listings in that area.

My main question is how far is too far from Thamrin/Senayan areas. I don't want to hamstring my search if I don't have to. I found lots of places between Thamrin and Senayan areas that seem ideal but then I remember the pictures/stories of Jakarta traffic. Is it worth it to book a place basically across the street from one of those big areas or is it better to book one in between the two? If forced to choose which is preferable in your minds?

I'm not an expert in the game, though gaming local girls is easy if you're white and young. Having a white guy in the social circle is boost up the value for some girls here. Bring some brochures or small map may help you open them in the daytime, I think it's less pressure from people around for the girl.

There's surely a quite place for middle-east guys here http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2010/...uncak.html tho, I'm sure you won't enjoy it, but quality of girls from this place is great (if not best), personal preference tho.

Gaming the local girls, if you speak the language, I can tell you most big cities are fit for you. Language barrier is your problem, most of people don't speak English, unless they work in such a good company, interact with foreigner, have money to afford English course outside the school as our poor education system. So, I'm seeing is this way, if many foreigners in the city, means good for you.

Jakarta is a city for a good career, so you might find most girls are working 9-6, although plenty of universities too. But compare to these 3 big cities, Bandung, Yogyakarta and Surabaya where a lot of students, so when you go to a bar, most likely you would meet students.

There's a small island 90mins away from Bali (by fast boat) called Gili Trawangan pretty much like Bali (south part) or Kho Pangan, hectic party, but there's no car nor motorbike, only bicycle and horse as transportation and nice beach. Most are western (Oz, US, Germany, French, Russia *if you're lucky), so not good if you prefer local assets. The party part is app. 1/3 of the island, so you can enjoy the quite side of the island. Tho, be careful with the alcohol, there's some number of people have died because of that (mixed booze with methanol), beer or sth with bottle is always good. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/island-...6567270760

I love Bangkok but quality of girl in Jakarta is slightly better, I think.

RE: Brodiaga in Indonesia and Thailand
Here are my observations from my trip - I had the time of my life!

Online Game

As anywhere in Asia online is big. Skout and Tinder gave me decent to good quality. Indonesiancupid has many girls that want to fuck but quality isn't great. Wechat quality is awful - don't bother.

I used a mix of speed dates (one per hour) and evening dates to work through the numbers. Always get (normal) pictures before an online date - chances are otherwise her profile pictures do not correspond with reality.

Once you have gotten your potential dates on Whatsapp they will always set updates WITH YOU. I had no single day without a Whatsapp message to catch up fro a drink written BY A GIRL.

Daygame

I found mall approaches harder this time. Did a number of them and had trouble making a conversation stick. I went only for 7.5+ during daygame. If it stuck, girls produced excuses to come out (boyfriend etc).

I had no single mall daygame bang this time.

Had an average of 2.5 dates/ day. Some days I had 6 dates planned. I sent 5 dates back home (pictures did not match them). 2 refused sex after coming to my place (one was a 7.5). A dozen girls went for 'it' with no/minimal resistance.

Achievements unlocked

- 3 girls in 24 hours
- defloured a 25y old virgin
- 3 girls under 20 in 2 days (I'm 30+)

What I liked a lot

- Great variety of girls from petite, skinny looking, pale Chinese girls to sumptuous, dark skinned girls with great asses - I had it all.

- English proficiency varies with a lot of fluent speakers but also a ot of non-English speakers.

- There are a good number of real quality girls that need more time investment but during that time you will have enough to play with from your online game

Top cities

- Jakarta (best talent in Indonesia, crowded and polluted, cool nightlife)

- Surabaya (good talent, big enough, less polluted, cheaper)

- Yogyakarta (lot's of universities, huge amount of college girls, good talent <23, very cheap, agreeable nightlife, good food and friendly people)

- Malang (rather big, small city, super cheap, good food and coffee, but below average talent, no nightlife)

- Bali, not enough local talent and lots of white guys (bule)

Some examples what you can get away with in the lands of Indonesia!

Example I:

- my date (a 6.5) speaks barely any English, I treat her to a $3.50 dinner and keep texting other girls on my phone while having dinner
- we speak abut 10 sentences in 1 hour (I'm too tired to make conversation)
- at the end I say I have to go back to the hotel, I'm tired - she says she wants to come (and fuck me), I did not even have to invite her!

Example II:

Another girl I meet at a coffee shop (from online dating). She is late. She arrives late, we drink coffee for 20 minutes and both go back to my place nearby after that. Have great sex. She gets dressed again and I'm back to my next date all in under 90 minutes!

Example III:

Spend the day with Girl 1 but I have another date with Girl 2 that I do not want to cancel. I tell Girl 1 that I have another date. She is cool with it. Close Girl 2 in my room while Girl I is shopping. Girl II leaves and Girl I invites me to dinner and we have sex afterwards.

Example IV:

Lunch date with a new girl - girl insists on paying Smile Comes back to my hotel afterwards. Insists on a blow job (just mediocre quality though). Leaves after sex 30 minutes later. Never saw her again. All in bloody daylight in just 2 hours.

Mumbojumbo,

Sounds like you had a fucking blast there. Could you drop some intel on Surabaya and Youguakarta? Logistics: where to stay/areas/apartments or hotels/. Nightlife: best clubs and bars. Places for daygame and to take out girls for dates.

I'd like to return to Indonesia, but don't want to get stuck in Jakarta again, and Bali, like you mentioned, has too many white guys already. Looking for new cool places to explore.

I'm not in Indonesia now, just visited a couple of times.

Yeah, language barrier is a problem with many girls, though the situation is much better than in Thailand, Cambodia or Vietnam, for example.

I heard the same things about Gili Trawangan, that it's a great place to party, but not to look for Indonesian girls.

Interesting article about Puncak, though it sounds like it's mostly pay for play which is not my thing.

@Brodiaga @ChrisGambi

In general girl quality drops off sharply once you leave Jakarta proper.

Yogyakarta is great because it's cheap (food/ hotels), has much less traffic, isn't polluted and generally easier. There are some big universities in town which you can target specifically. There are some awesome places to eat in town that set you back just $2 (for a very filling, quality lunch). There are a number of historic sites that are fun to explore for a couple of days. The 'average girl' isn't as pretty as in Jakarta. However there is certainly no other white people in town. It's a bit harder to generate leads but you can enjoy life more compared to Jakarta.

Malang is like a more boring copy of Yogyakarta. Even cheaper with $5 quality massages (90 minutes). It has some pretty areas (think Singapore level) but feels like a huge suburb without a real city center. Much less girls out there but you won't have any distracting factors for the girls Smile

Surabaya has the best quality of girls online and offline after Jakarta. Skout and Tinder are popular here. My logistics were bad so I wasn't able to have more than one date in town. But it would be the town I'd look to go back.

People also recommend Bandung (next to Jakarta) as a worthwhile place in terms of nightlife but I haven't been. I'm planning this for my next trip.

If you plan to see more touristy things, plan on Krakatao, Flores and Papua which should be awesome but won't have a lot of girls....

Brodiaga (or anybody else with experience)

I was wondering about the visa situation for Indonesia. I have a UK passport. I checked online and it's seems a regular tourist visa at the border is 30 days, that can be extended just once for another 30 days. If applying beforehand, it is possible to get a 60 day tourist visa, which cannot be extended it seems.

How easy/difficult is it to stay for longer than 60 days? Would it be as easy as doing a border run somewhere and coming straight back?

I was wondering about the visa situation for Indonesia. I have a UK passport. I checked online and it's seems a regular tourist visa at the border is 30 days, that can be extended just once for another 30 days. If applying beforehand, it is possible to get a 60 day tourist visa, which cannot be extended it seems.

I'm not advertising this, but if you sign up for the guide using this link (Visiting/Moving to/Living in Ubud), you'll be able to download a PDF document which has some very basic info about types of visas available. http://www.hubud.org/faq/

Basically, as far as I understand, staying long term in Indonesia is more difficult than in the Philippines, but easier than in Thailand.

Again, I am not associated with this web site and do not advertise their services.

What is the pro and semi-pro to civilian ratio in Indonesia, online and in nightclubs?

Brodiaga. Excellent info on Indonesia and entertaining thread.
How come I haven't read this one before! Anyway +1 for sharing.
You got me all pumped up since I've never been to Indonesia.

Questions. ( My apologies if they have already been answered.)

- If you want to be longer than 60days in Indonesia. How do I do?
Possible to extend or to get a longer visa than 60 days?

- Here is good info about Jakarta and girls. I'm also curious about the rest of Indonesia. What are other cool stuff can you do besides gaming girls?
Any extreme activities or insane off the beaten path expedtion/destiantions.
Any links? If I'll go to Indonesia I won't spend all my time in Jakarta.
Indonesia is huge. There most be tons of things to do/see.

- Is Bali a no go?

- What is the price level compared to let's say Thailand?
I heard that Indonesia is more expensive?

These questions were quite wide but I hope somebody can break them down.

RE: Brodiaga in Indonesia and Thailand
Thanks Brodiaga, I checked out that pdf. The visa info there is quite basic though. I did some more research. Good news! It's not trivial, but it doesn't seem complicated either. For those who are interested (e.g. Chaos), there are two main options for staying beyond 60 days:

1) 'Social Visa/Sosial Budaya' - this allows you to stay for up to half a year. "This visa status is used by persons coming to study, for research, training programs or to visit family members". You will need a local sponsor. I will be going for 'research' Laugh

2) Simply leaving the country before the 60 days are up, and then re-entering with a new VOA (visa on arrival) is allowed apparently.
"According to Indonesian consular officials, it's perfectly legal to come to Indonesia on a 60-day VOA, leave before the end of the sixty days, flying out of Indonesia, then returning on a new 60-day VOA. There is no need to pay bribes or any other fees upon arrival in Indonesia." You might get hassled by immigration if they suspect you are actually working there without a work/business permit.

There are also other more involved/expensive options. Source: here.

So in summary, the best option seems to be this: go there on a VOA, and once on the ground for a little while, find a sponsor or go through an agency to get this 'social visa'. OR, if indeed it's true that you can just fly out and re-enter, just do that when your time starts to run out.
