I didn't mean that in a condescending way. I think both martial arts and lifting are important. Ideally though, I'd advise kids to get the lifting down first though before they start a martial art.

Hit the military press, bench, deadlift, and squat hard (actually in that order - military press takes a long ass time to grow, get to where you can heave bodyweight overhead and your shoulders should be bigger than just about anybody's). Deadlifts and squats are great and whatever but anybody can get their squat or deadlift to 350 inside of two or three months, getting military press or bench anywhere that's halfways impressive can take two or three years. Upper body is most important aesthetically but unfortunately most difficult to grow.

Also, for rounding everything out, do plenty of chinups, dips, and arm curls (if you're into that).

The two next most important things you can do is start (seriously) learning a language and start reading at least one serious book per month (kindles are great).

I'm sure in most cases dads envy the opportunities their sons have also but it turns into a motivation to make sure they do well. A man has a duty and skill to teach young men about experiences. This is good advice but I would add: learn to recognize approval-seeking, supplicating, and other beta behavior. Also, don't forget that when want sex, it will be up to you to take primary responsibility for escalation.

Care to elaborate as to why you think that? The best martial arts classes are just as much physical training as technical. There were many times where I could barely walk to my car after class.

I would suggest that you not limit yourself. Learn how to talk to all women, as its a good skill to have, but never hesitate to approach a woman you're attracted (though of course you should wait until you're of legal consent before engaging in interactions with a person over 18 ). Some older women have the same sex drives as young people but don't have the limitation that comes with the fear from having kids (cause they're too old and/or have already had them and keep on top of their birth control). I agree insofar as it involves arithmetic, logic, discipline, and basic economics. You should have an understanding of debt and interest.

But I think for many aspects of money management there is no substitute for experience-- specifically the experience of being solely responsible to provide for yourself. You can play with numbers all day long but until you've actually had to pay your own rent, utility bills, and groceries entirely on your own it's all very abstract. Simulations never worked for me.

Yeah, but don't think that squats should be neglected. Just devote one day per week to chest, shoulders, back, and legs. Your quads are your biggest and most important muscle, and the squat is all around one of the best workouts you can do for yourself. Hades' advice is sound in everything but this--legs should be given just as much priority as your other muscles, if not more.

Exactly because of that. Martial arts training is often ridiculously tough. I did jiu jitsu for a while during uni and was always beat for days afterwards. I think for your average kid, lifting heavy 3x a week on top of this is too much. So if it was me I'd spend 6 months- 1 year building a decent strength base with the compound lifts until the crazy linear gains slow down. Then I could go a bit lighter on the weights and add in the other stuff. Again, that's just my take on it.

OP, you found this site for a reason. Like all of us, looking for something you couldn't find elsewhere.

The men you'll read here are older and more experienced than other forums of its type. Mostly at a different stage from you.

As a high schooler lacking life experience in the blue pill world, don't expect to be reading all this red pill stuff with proper perspective.

It's not for everybody. Teachers and girls at your school would definitely not approve. It's a "you don't talk about fightclub" kind of thing.

When I was your age, I just wanted to find a good girlfriend. If you suspect this is too much for you now, then maybe it is. That's ok.

I respect the other guys on the forum but I disagree with their advice.

1a. Study and get good grades.

1b. Play as many sports as you can.

Those two should be your focus above all else because you can only do them in high school. You can never go back and redo it. Game, starting a business, whatever will all be waiting for you when you're ready.

Playing sports will get you laid, it will keep you in the gym lifting weights, and it will teach you to interact with other men. If you play Varsity and aren't a complete lame, you will get plenty of ass.

Many of us may not agree with the curriculum in schools today but studying Spanish, learning programming and advanced math, reading the classics, etc. will always come in handy down the road. Just the experience of learning and focusing will be invaluable in life.

The college degree isn't what it used to be but it still opens many doors and it's always good to keep your options open. You have to go to class anyway so make the most of it. Don't get caught up in that "too cool for school" shit those other clowns are on. Most of the "popular" kids now will have shitty jobs and two kids with some fat girl 10 years from now, I guarantee it.

Other than that, DO NOT GET ANYONE PREGNANT OR GET MARRIED. Read the forum and apply what interests you. But don't lose focus and try to grow up too fast. Get the most out of where you are now.

I'm bottom heavy and trying to get my press up to bodyweight. It's a slow grind. In the last few months I have been hitting delts and arms at least somewhat every day and the difference in attention is intriguing. I didn't start lifting for vain reasons but I'm going to continue doing so at least somewhat for vanity's sake.

Two points - lower body responds very quickly to training. Building a good military press, on the other hand, takes a lot of time.

From a time economics standpoint, neglecting upper body in favor of lower body makes no sense. Four years (or less, whatever) in high school is enough time to get a very good press, incline bench, and weighted chin. Four months is enough to get a very good squat.

I'd say give less priority to lower body just because the upper body requires more babysitting. You can do two sessions of 20 rep squats a week indefinitely (thats it) and have huge legs. Very quick, pretty taxing workout.

Not to mention that nobody cares if you have big legs. A guy with big legs and skinny arms is neither considered strong nor an athlete. Nobody is going to ask you "Do you even lift?" and motion you to pull up your pant leg and show some quad.

Why bother hating on the gym "curlbro" when he makes a very good point? Other people know that "he lifts".

If lifting made you physically uglier, would you still lift for the "health benefits"? If not, then are you really committed to lifting for health benefits or are you just saying that to diss on the abbreviated, arm-centric routines of curlbros?

Sure, I won't dispute that the squat is a great exercise, and every day is leg day in my little gym (I love working legs), but hating on vanity lifters and neglecting their preferred lifts is basically the same thing as saying that lifting should afford nobody an advantage in terms of male attractiveness. That mindset is anti-game at it's core. It's compensatory narcissism. It's like being an average Joe but laughing at the pussy-slaying guy in the club because he's wearing eyeliner and dressed like a faggot. Why should average Joe have any reason whatsoever to feel superior to the pussy-slaying faggot?

Girls like huge, ripped backs, large biceps, and big forearms. They want a man with delts. They enjoy being seduced by a man who radiates physical power.
