Undisputed Truth: Mike tyson autobiography; enjoyed it as would any fan

The White Tiger; winner of the 2008 booker prize ; a fictional tale set in India; comedic and really captures the essence of the country (quite negative portrayal)

Have any of you guys read "Trust me I'm Lying" by Ryan Holiday? He's a media-manipulator who worked with Tucker Max and American Apparel, helping to generate online controversy to drive sales. I'm half way through it and liking it a lot so far.

It's a lot of stuff I already knew, but it's nice to have it confirmed by an insider. The only issues is that I've been reading up on some of the controversy about the book, and it seems like a lot of it might be bullshit? Any thoughts?

I'm also reading "1968" by Mark Kurlansky, it's a great book for those interested in history. 1968 was a pretty massive year in the 20th century, between Vietnam, Prague, and major college rates.

The Ryan Holiday book is very good.

It is an interesting insight into how the media is manipulated. And how much easier it is to do in the age of the internet.

It also doubles as a strategy guide for pulling off such media hacks yourself.

After you read it - you realise that most of the stories that go "viral" are bullshit.

Almost through with this, "Mad Outta Me Head" by Colin Post. That's the dude that runs ExpatChronicles.com



It's a pretty great read. It's a supposedly true story about this guy who left the Irish drug scene to become a coke runner, and got arrested in Colombia. He spends a few years in jail before moving onto the TEFL world.

The book is pretty much "Basketball Diaries" set in the Colombia in the 80s and 90s instead of NYC in the 60s.

This dude does it all; crack, booze, and heroin, and gets associated with some pretty top level drug dudes, mainly because he was a novelty as one of the only Irish guys in the country.

The guy did a reddit AMA a few weeks ago if you want to learn more, that's how I found out about the book.

Bill Bryson's...

A Short History of Nearly Everything

This is one of those books everyone should read, as a scientific history of our world. It really puts our existence in perspective.

For my bedtime reading, I got about halfway through Pimp by Iceberg Slim, got bored and stopped. That book is supposedly a great game guide along with a powerful story but jesus the writing was awful. I overlooked the poor writing early on because there was some intrigue when the author described his fucked up childhood and his hypergamous mother leaving his niceguy step dad for a violent maniac. But after about 40 pages it fell flat during his story of scheming to become a pimp as a young man. It was dull. My mind would wander while my eyes passed over the words. Disappointing, since I had such high hopes given the book's reputation.

So now I've chosen a book hopefully more stimulating. Heard about the movie awhile ago, haven't seen it. Supposed to be a disturbing look at a mother-son relationship. Probably the type of book that would inspire a terrific 2Wycked article. Hope this doesn't give me nightmares.

Book 3 of one of the most renown science fiction series of all time. It is one hell of a challenging read, but amazing nonetheless.

This book gives you a glimpse into a much different America, particularly the American West, at the turn of the 20th century seen through the eyes of an undeniably "red pill" man named Charles Askins.

He is no hero and most definitely not a white knight. He is what he calls himself: an unrepentant sinner to the end who loved women, relished violence and enjoyed gun-fighting. He was a hard man who loved hard jobs and worked for many years as a Border Patrol agent during Prohibition. Few people know this, but border violence was much more insane back then than it is today.

His writing style and vocabulary will sometimes have you scratching your head and googling words you've never even heard of because they fell into disuse decades ago.

I consider him one of the last gunfighters. He's not necessarily a man who should be admired, but he is one that should definitely be respected and remembered.

I am currently re-reading the second edition of Sir Bernard Crick's translation of The Discourses on Livy by Niccolò Machiavelli; I might drop a data-sheet-of-sorts on classical republicanism. Hell, I'm even considering a book.

I’ve just started The Count of Monte Cristo.



I’m reading the Buss translation (the most modern and accessible version according to Amazon reviews). I'm only a few chapters in but I’m really enjoying the writing so far!

I’m also reading Day Bang by Roosh.
