I'm reading Rick James autobiography "Glow", lot on my mind so needed a light read. Very entertaining, blown through (pun intended) couple hundred pages last couple days. He's a bullshitter with some of the stories (claims to have been invited to the party Manson killed Sharon Tate, got too high and missed it) but if you like Rick James or funk music in general he knew a lot of big players in his era (late 70s early 80s.)

The Yankee Problem by Clyde Wilson. Fascinating history of the Puritans that landed in New England, their descendants, and how they have managed to subvert the US and its core interests. This is a pro-Southern values book but has nothing to do with race.

Just got Neil Degrasse Tyson's book titled Astrophysics for People in a Hurry.
Interesting read, tough read, slow read. It takes a while to wrap your head around some of the concepts and theories. I would recommend to people who want to broaden their perspectives and change up what they've been reading.

Spandau: The Secret Diaries- Albert Speer

Everyone knows who Albert Speer was....sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment at Nuremberg.

..but while he was in Spandau Prison (1948-1966), he secretly wrote a diary almost every day, even though it was forbidden by the Four Powers Agreement.

He had a sympathetic medic from the prison clinic smuggle paper to him, plus he wrote on anything he could find...wrappers, cloth, box lids, toilet paper, anything. He hid them and had the medic smuggle them out to his family, for almost twenty years.

When he was released, he recovered them in order to organize them for a book, and by then they numbered more than twenty thousand separate pages/scraps(!).

The book is fascinating, highly recommended.

Just finished it, and I should say that it seems very solid.
Basically explained to me why and how I losed weight.
I would recommend it to anyobdy with weight problems.

Picked up a copy of "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair in Chicago, which is about the circumstances in Chicago's meat packing/slaughterhouse district and the working and living conditions there in the beginning of the 20th century. And how immigrants dealt with this. I'm not far into the book yet, but seems to be an interesting read.

Two Hundreds Years Together by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. An epic book, discussing the tumultuous relationship between Russians and Jews during the 18th and 19th century. It was banned for quite some time, since Solzhenitsyn was critical (AKA, objective) of the Jewish role in Russian history.

An important book to read, especially considering the current "muh Russia" obsession in the American media. While reading the book, you realize that this current Russian investigation is merely round 700 in an ongoing battle between Russian nationalism and Jewish identity. You can change the names and locations of the events in this book with today's New York Times/Washington Post headlines and you would be reading the same story, essentially.

Explaining Postmodernism by Steven R. C. Hicks Audiobook is on Youtube

The first chapter blew me away. It seems like roughly everything that I hate about feminism and leftism is a manifestation of postmodernism.

Postmodernists reject reason. They reject the enlightenment. They don't believe in truth. They're collectivist and obsessed with power relationships and oppression. They're neo-Marxist. They're relativist. It explains so much.

When I looked into the Frankfurt School and Cultural Marxism, I remember think "hm yeah I guess, there's some overlap there." But with postmodernism, the link seems nearly undeniable. The language is too similar to be a coincidence.

Here's Ariely on dating and relationships, applying research from psychology. Some topics: the Secretary Problem, why outside CEOs get paid more than inside ones, whether you should tell your friend that you hate his girlfriend, love in arranged marriages, Ashley Madison, asymmetries in the dating market.
