This overall aggressive and emotional kind of behavior seems to be the norm for the Everything Else forum these days. You can't even debate a topic, even something as simple as music or sports, without someone calling you a hater, thirsty, beta, delusional, a mark, etc. etc.

As Deluge pointed out, no one has cited Kanye (or any other musician, for that matter) as a role model. And the "reality" that we're supposedly "out of touch" with is that both fellow musicians, music critics, and music fans have heaped praise onto West for the past decade.

Beck after the Grammy's:

Then he immediately used that star power to push not only Mos and Com, but Slum Village, Dilated Peoples, Talib Kweli, Twista, Consequence, Rhymefest, etc.

Those guys were around long before Ye got on, but he was the one who created that lane in the mainstream and showed that there was a market for that kind of music, that other forms of hip hop were commercially viable other than club music. He ushered in an entirely new era.

People don't "understand" how people can "like" his music because they never really witnessed his career trajectory. They just see a mainstream musician who acts like an ass. But personally, as long as he continues to put out records like MBDTF and Yeezus, I don't really give a fuck what he does in the media or his personal life. Doesn't really affect me.

When people haven't seen your hustle and trajectory they can't/don't respect what it took for you to get to that position. All they see is a guy acting out on the most public stage. His most amazing feat is the resurrection of careers that were stagnant or headed south as was mentioned.

I remember an interview Kanye had where he talked about how he was pigeonholed as just a producer early on at Rockafella, and how that provided the extra motivation prove Dame (at the time his biggest supporter) wrong. How ironic is it that he had the hottest bars on Watch The Throne years later?

Far as I'm concerned his whole career is based on slights, being overlooked and disregarded. It powers all of his work, so it creeps into his verses.

Sometimes his antics miss the mark, but I agree with not giving much energy to his public persona. He is a contradiction on some levels, part strong convictions and part spotlight chaser.

Just let me know when he releases his next album

I'd guess that Beck is gonna sell more albums / have a raised profile from this.

Most people probably didn't even know he had a new album out and probably still wouldn't have with the grammy alone.

I think he was sincere but the way he responded graciously and complementary towards KW helped too.

I'd like to see KW storm the stage when the subject of his ire isn't a scrawny middle-aged guy or a chic though., Like if Beck was built like Henry Rollins...

I used to think Kayne was a huge clown before I actually started listening to his music, and reading about his background.

The man has put in TONS!!!! of work to get where he is. No one was taking him seriously in the music industry for a while, Hell he has even made a few songs about it, my all time favorite one though is "can't tell me nothing".





Personally I don't actually look up to Kayne because he has made some interesting choices like wifing Kim K, However he has two great qualities.

1.Irrational self confidence

2.Constantly working on his craft.

I do wonder why he got banned, it didn't seem like much unless someone reported it. I have seen worse comments and the poster didn't get banned.

I just find this funny. The only thing that bugs is the example he sets. A lot of dumb impressionable people out there that think being classless is the way to go. Then it translates into more problems for society. Great he gave the award back or whatever (didn't see the video) but I highly doubt it was a genuine act. Everything about him seems to be calculated attention whoring.

Let's be honest, none of us like being around fake people. Somehow some dumb person is going to say, "that is how I should behave." That is the sad part, that is the part that bugs. Enjoy the fall.

That being said, it's interesting to note how people in the manosphere promote this idea of having "irrational self-confidence" (a quality that kanye supposedly has) as the key to getting laid, success. etc. And while that may or may not be true, it leads to guys having a distorted image of how a person should behave. Let's call a spade a spade, oftentimes "irrational self-confidence" = arrogant dickhead. I don't like being around people who think that they are the shit and can do no wrong. I don't care how successful they are. It's an unpleasant quality, regardless of how much pussy you may accrue by displaying it.

tl;dr massive insecurity can fuel success

To be honest, oftentimes that quality of irrational self confidence stems from massive insecurity. Massive.

bet Kanyne's insecurity drove him to the success that he has. So desperate for approval and acceptance I am sure he worked harder than most and could tap pain/personal experiences to drive some lyrics. Like I said, I couldn't tell you much about his music. A lot of music these days just seem like noise, good beats to dance to move to but don't say more than "I am better than you and all girls are hoes."

Insecurity is a massive fuel for some people to strive for success but they never seem to feel like they are successful since the pain cuts so deep. I'll be honest, I grew up in a healthy household no one would say I am fucked up. I don't have this crazy energy to tap to keep pushing. I get caught up a lot in asking questions like, "why are they acting like that?" Because I can't relate to single parent households, divorced parents, abusive parents, molestation, etc. I was taught many values, proper behavior, etc. Almost all of the pain in my life is self-inflicted choices I made after heavy analysis that maybe didn't quite work out. I can't rage against anyone, since I am an adult and I get to own my choices. I am not saying I am jealous I wasn't fucked up as a kid, but there is a crazy energy that I have observed in some that I just don't have. I am sure it could fuel success but I also imagine there would be a trail of carnage behind me for all the people I hurt along the way.

Even Justin Bieber seems to be more mature that Kanye based on this video. But once again a kid with a tough upbringing.




So to those who have had tough upbringings and are fueled by your insecurities and anger/rage (which comes from being hurt) just don't be such a tool when you look down on us mortals after you have made it. And if you can see it in you, try to find resources to help deal with it. Once you recognize stuff about you, you can't then ignore it and claim to be a man. I have my own set of issues, and yes there are some that I try and ignore, but I know I am not meeting my potential if I choose not to work at it.

You can like someone's art without necessarily liking the person.

I'd put it in the top 20. It's usually placed in the top 10, with Dark Fantasy at number 1. To be fair, credit for the aggressive industrial hip-hop sound Yeezus was called "groundbreaking" for really lies with Death Grips. The Money Store is another classic record of the 2010's.
