I work repairing watches for a living and have a decent sized collection. I am 21 and daily wear a two tone black Submariner and a vintage pepsi GMT. Young girls don't give a fuck. When I mention my profession and they ask about my watch, they may be impressed by its cost, but most guys can't bring that up in normal conversation without looking like they are bragging. Rolex is the only name girls will know, but I had one guess the value of my sub and she said $600 (only 1/10th the real value). I recommend getting whatever you like, looks good, and has a quality movement. Fuck what bitches think about watches, they don't understand them one bit.

What's the general consensus on Bell & Ross? I've always liked their style.

My advice go to eBay look up a all 18k gold vintage omega or Swiss watch May cost you $700 to 1,400 max! .........way more class that going with a obvious look at me watch! Besides eventually someone that spends a little more than a glance will notice you are the real deal!

I have a small collection of watches, which I love, but trust me, none of them alone will get me laid. I actually never have gotten any kind of compliment on the watches themselves, just the way they look. And I'm sure some calvin klein $200 watch could have done the same...

thirty-six bell & ross is cool, but most people won't recognize it. So just a matter if you are buying it because you like it or if you are trying to impress others.

I've also had women open me after spotting an open-heart/skeleton mechanical watch that I wear. It's subtle peacocking and ties in with the old Mystery idea of wearing "one interesting item" that'll invite questions or comments from curious women.

Generally, something brightly colored or an open-heart watch is the way to go.

I like the one in the picture. Not a big fan of the oversize square watches.
I think most oversize will be out of fashion in a few years time...

Any of you have good experiences with after market leather straps? I am thinking of getting a deployment buckle also to go with the strap. I was looking at watchuseek and this vendor was suggested http://www.internationalwatchman.com/home.html for something affordable. I don't really wear my watch often but for some reason have an itch that needs to scratched.

There is a couple citizen watches that catch my eye, due to the material, but not flash and some don't have any numbers on them. Not a fan of the numberless designs.

Buy a used Rolex Air King. Small, classy, DHV and its gonna be worth the same once you get tired of it and want to sell it. There is a wide variety of styles.

At the moment I only have two watches: a Strela Chronograph Cosmos Lab 3133 which I bought while in Poland and a Strela Chronograph 3133/TR42CYM my girlfriend's grandfather gave me after noticing the other Strela I had bought in Poland. I might buy a Patek Philippe replica. After all, it's not like I'll take the watch off and give it to everyone to inspect!

I've decided the date is important to me though.

Are the date justs the same as the airkings but with date?

Datejust is my favourite Rolex, the price for them seems to be rising. A good used one is going to run you $5k.
They are a notch above the air king which is the basic model.

With a Rolex you never lose money with.

Thoughts on double strap watches? I know they're a design made for women but some look pretty cool to me. Could a guy plausibly rock something like this:

I've had rolex Cartier paneri etc. And none of them get much interest. The watches that get the most comments from the girls are the wacky ones like a
White Nixon time teller or an orange uniform wares 104 !
