Which Watch Gets It Wet?

^ you are funny.
I heard about a Rolex store in Panama having a crazy sale recently, in the duty free airport.
^^ I never thought Rolex went on sale much. I thought they had to keep up an image or something. That would have been sweet if the discounts were steep enough. I am a bargain shopper.
Rolex are pretty strict with their ADs. You can get 5% off easily on most non steel sport models here in the UK; upto 15% on precious metals if you have a relationship with the AD.
If Rolex found out about an AD doing a sale they wouldn't be an AD for much longer.
Brand management is all they're about really.
On the general subject, I have a Rolex but never wear it. Girls don't notice watches; only other men do鈥nd then only a tiny %.
Nobody should ever buy a watch for women.
Here an idea, how about a designer brand that women are familiar with? I am talking about Emporio Armani, Burberry, Coach, and Diesel, with the latter two being really cheap. Do women care if it is a Rolex or other watch specialists or would they just as well be "omg! It's Burberry" just as much?
I have both a real Patek I inherited and a fake one I bought for $12 USD in Cambodia. I wear the fake one out only and have gotten a lot of compliments from women. They are all clueless.
I bet these dirt cheap designer watches would get them wet just because they are designers. Like they have any idea what good watches are.
Burberry
Emporio Armani
Diesel

If money were no object (unfortunately, it almost always is), I would wear something from A. Lange & S枚hne. The sad thing about watches is that, in terms of (say) getting respect in Geneva, a new $1000 watch is no different from a $10 one. The best hope for the non-loaded collector is to go vintage; you can sometimes find turn-of-the-century A. Lange & S枚hne (and some fine Swiss) models for $1000-$5000 on eBay.

Any woman who is honestly turned on by a watch (more specifically, a watch that is of a certain price point) is a gold digging hag and should be avoided.
Women don't notice watches enough to to be like "Oh shit that's a Patek? Let's fuck right now!" - A watch is an accessory like everything else you wear on your body. If it looks good on you and goes with your look then women will notice that - but spending thousands on a watch is fucking ignorant (unless you literally have that kind of disposable income - still a little ignorant but whatever).
Page 1 of this thread someone mentions an $85k watch that is somehow worth the money. I am definitely the kind of person to appreciate quality and paying a premium for higher end products and services - but shit I could just buy a 2015 Range Rover for that amount of money, which would get far more pussy and still can tell time via the radio clock.

Just wrap it and string her along for a few bangs

Do any of you gentlemen have any recommendations for where to buy high-quality replicas (online)? I hear the knock offs made in China are getting better and better.

I've had a lot of experience buying replicas. They're pretty good but also quite expensive. This is the wrong forum to ask that question. I don't see the point in dropping $5-10k on a Rolex or Panerai because they're not even close to the best of the bunch and they feel like fashion watches rather than real ones. For independent watchmakers, A. Lange, or Patek, it's worth it IMO.
Here is my replica Audemars Piguet Diver that costs me about 400 dollars.
This is a replica Panerai Bronzo, taken from another forum, would run you about 500 dollars as opposed to $20k which I'd rather spend on an A lange.

Replicas are bad ju ju.
For the total cost of both those counterfeit watches you could have bought yourself a very respectable, REAL entry level IWC or Hamilton or Tissot.. the list goes on.
Its better to have a real $100 Guess or Fossil watch than a fake $20, 000 Panerai. I've explained replicas and their many shortcomings in further detail in one of the other watch threads.
Wearing a replica Patek or AP is no different from the early PUA's donning fake illustrious lifestlyes that dont actually exist. Or stuffing a sock down your crotch to make your package look bigger. Its fucked up from a conceptual level.
No offense meant btw. Everyone is ultimately free to wear/buy what they want. JMO.
Oris International ive always liked. If you have a bigger wrirst and like clean watches with minimal faces this is too clean.
Sits right smack at $1k, will last several decades if not more with proper care. You can give a watch like this your son. And not too crazy in cost to boot. So then he can "get it wet" and carry the legacy heh.
well, I guess we have different philosophies on watches. Most of the watches you see on the market are nothing more than mass produced luxury goods, including Rolex, Panerai and Audemars Piguet. Their robot made movements have nothing much to admire from a watchmaking perspective. Audemars Piguet, while having decent movements, are known more for their vanity factor rather than watchmaking, having 300 different variations on the Gerald Genta design. The exception is vintage Rolex, which was never meant to be a luxury item, but tool watches to take up a beating. This is why replicas are nothing more than toys for fashion. Almost no one knows what watch you're wearing, especially girls. You buy it for yourself. Even though I have replica watches, I wouldn't buy a replica Patek or A. Lange. I'd spend the money to get and maintain only on watch with a good movements where the watchmakers would be proud of what they made.
I agree with many of your points, but the fact still remains that there is a very palpable difference in quality and craftsmanship between a counterfeit timepiece, even a high-quality one, and an authentic albiet mass produced swiss brand. Robot or not, to compare Panerai's insanely meticulous production process to that of a counterfeit factory in Shenzen or Thailand is a bit like compairing Mercedes to Kia. Both are mass produced but one certainly still took more R&D, care and time to make while the other is a cheap copy of the former.

It's funny, at least to me, that some guys make such a big deal about authentic watches, like we're still living in the early 20th century when mechanical things were (as they should have been at the time) impressive. Yet, we live in this amazing time where a quartz watch can keep better time than a mechanical, yet we have marketing brands shoving down the idea that the "craftsmanship" of these expensive watches is what counts.
Do we still have steam engine train companies telling us about the charming beauty of going 30 mph? Would we even entertain the thought? Especially after we have been on a Shinkansen high speed train in Japan?
For me, a watch is all about style, and I could care less about passing on an old relic to my children when newer/more-awesome shit will be coming out in the future.
Seiko, if they had more variety of styles, would be the only watch brand I would buy. Yet, we still have to hear people repeating the same old marketing material from the watch companies.
In any case, a watch that really catches my eye is the Seiko Yellow Monster:

At least mechanically, the replicas are also impressive but that's not the point.
You're buying something that is a fake version of something else. That's what it comes down to. Thats why it makes more sense to buy a $500 quartz Citizen over a fake AP.
I wouldn't buy a fake Gucci belt for the same reason. Give me the Calvin Klien belt that isnt fronting.

High quality watches are like firearms and vehicles. You can buy a pre-owned one at a fifty percent discount. If you wait and watch, you can buy the pre-owned stainless and 18k version on ebay, instead of the rather plain SS version, and still have enough money left over to visit SEA for a month.
Better yet, you could buy two classic 18k gold Patek Philippe watches from the 1950's. But that's just me. In either case, you could wear those pre-owned watches for years and then sell them for just as much as you paid -- or perhaps even more. Not so with a new watch.
Even though Rolex is played out or whatever it still gets the most attention from people, if that's what you're after.
I usually wear an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore and the average person has no idea what it is.

Out of my entire collection, this is the watch that the ladies go absolutely crazy about. It's unbelievable the amount of wows and compliments I receive! No other watch in my collection, which includes widely known brands too (Rolex, Patek etc.), gets this level of attention - nothing comes even close. lol
I put a NATO strap on it, because it's more comfortable, looks better, and adds even more personality to it.

I think this looked cool so I wanted to pick it up. I googled the name you wrote and thought it'd be 100 bucks or less since it looks about that much. But its 5000!!!! What!?
