I searched on "Baldoni" and did not see anything come up. I don't believe this thread is a dupe.

An actor named Justin Baldoni proposed to his girlfriend, Emily, using a video that the NY Post calls the "most cringe-worthy proposal ever." It's pretty unbelievable to watch.

This whole thing struck me as the apex of all Beta, but is that too harsh considering that it is a marriage proposal?

I'd love to see the forum's reaction. I couldn't believe my eyes. WARNING: it's really long to watch the whole thing (27 mins.). I suggest you cut out after five or 10 minutes or peruse the NY Post summary.

Well, my take is that she's pretty hot and while its kind of ridiculous (I skipped around the video) it doesn't seem "beta" to me at all, it's just showmanship and the guy seems like a leader amoung men. I guarantee every one of her girlfriends gets wet around this dude now.

My problem is not as much with the absurd, over-the-top proposal.

My issue is with the NY Post calling it "cringe-worthy".

This is the near equivalent of calling it creepy. The man is proposing to his girl. He's willing to abandon his rights as a free man to marry this woman, and they're calling it "cringe-worthy".

Would the Post ever dare call a girl doing something similar, "cringe-worthy"? Of course not.

I'm not a MRA guy, but shit like this makes me furious. The press makes a mockery of men - even when they're fulfilling society's outdated standards, even when they're "manning up" and forgoing their freedom by marrying their girlfriends.

You are probably right. The reason it seemed beta to me is all the blubbering about how she is the center of his life, and such. It's the tallest pedestal ever constructed.

Having said that, over all I think you're right that in this particular context it isn't beta.

She is very hot and seems to be a cool girl.
