My dad worked on the line for one of the auto companies. He is retired now but it was some tough ass work. He told me stories about guys who took all the overtime they were getting and built up farms and trucking companies. A lot of those guys are millionaires.

Not to mention the guys who went out and lived a life where they needed the overtime. Once the overtime stopped, they were in some deep shit.

What I think:

Guys wearing black Ts have a socially taught 'bad boy' image or at least a very good connotation in many forms (strong confident guy), plus black makes your body look better imo.

Go the black t shirts!

In general; wear red or black. Try to avoid wearing blue. A reminder for myself to expand my wardrobe.

If (understandably) anyone is worried about health issues from construction work why not pick a more 'cerebral' trade like electrician. Aren't they generally paid more anyway? I hope so as I'm looking at that avenue.

If youre worried about the health implications of working a man job, it isnt for you.

Do it cause you love it, cause you love the outdoors, working with your hands, utilizing your skills, the feeling of accomplishment.

Even though the money is alright, thats not why I do it. If I wanted a job purely for the money, I would have gotten into something different. But happiness is #1 for me, so I do what I do.

This is what I'm talking about. Nearly every blue-collar guy I know talks about when work dries up. It is very important for blue-collar guys to save for the rainy seasons.

Silverbullit I tip my hat to you sir. I am a 24 white collar worker in the suburbs of DC and the money made in the line of work I do will not be close to the equivalent to the pay you receive. That is a tremendous feat that you have achieved. Keep up the good work big fella.

(10-18-2013 06:19 AM)Samseau Wrote:  For sure, a lot of it has to do with poor upbringing and lack of education. Most blue collar types do not go to college and are never exposed to deep critical thinking nor are they exposed to the slutty environment upon which most college girls get corrupted by. These blue collar types then meet a girl and are unaware of:

1. How fucked up these chicks really are.

2. How the laws in this country work.

Although most college guys are brainwashed, if you notice most of the top posters on this board are college educated for a reason. We were exposed to Socrates, who taught to question things, and that's pretty much the reason why we end up showing the light to others.

I'm not saying everyone who reads Socrates will be red-pill, not by a long shot. But the guys who are exposed to critical thinking will still be more likely to avoid being fleeced by the system.

Blue-collar guys, despite their natural game, still get blindsided by things they aren't aware of. Also, blue-collar guys tend to have an individualist invincibility mindset ("I do what a want, when I want, bitches"), which is great for getting laid, but not so great for dealing with the laws and customs of America.

This. I just graduated from university in the states, went on a trip to France to study French, then came to Alberta for 'blue collar' work in manufacturing that requires no educational background or work experience (I can explain my decision if I must).

I just finished my first week, and I'm finding it extremely difficult to relate with my coworkers. Literally the only things that many of them talk about are drugs, trucks, and activities relating to both. They also have a sense of humor that I probably had when I was in elementary school. I have to dumb myself down just to be able to shoot the shit with them.

With that being said, they know their jobs like pros while I'm stumbling around worrying that I'm going to fuck something up and be the guy to blame for slowing the work down.

I'm not saying that all blue collar workers are morons, many of them that have earned a trade are experts and very knowledgeable in what they do. But in my particular work environment I can't help but think that these kids might never pull themselves out of such a stale existence.

And yet there I am working alongside them...

For what its worth, manufacturing does suck.

Thats not all blue collar work. Get into steel erection, crab fishing, tower climbing or big oil.

Or just get into tower climbing period. Yes its blue collar, but at the higher levels you need to understand how radio frequency components work, how a cell network operates, how to get very very heavy shit up a tower in places it seems impossible, ect...

Manufacturing is great - you're producing significant quantities of tangible products that can be measured all in a days output and sold to consumers who lap it up. There's no better way to efficiency of your production line and of your sales team due to volume-based element of the business. Furthermore, if you're into technology there's always new tech stuff coming up to increase production lines efficiency and it all comes down to how much you're willing to spend.

Plus you're in an airconditioned factory.

The worst part about manufacturing - although not of concern to employees - is the margins are thin.

Geez, considering I live five minutes from the plant and will make enough cash to pay off my degree in two months while still having money left over to travel and work towards a better career, instead of blowing my paycheck on ketamine, it must be me?

Has this field improved recently? The pay for cell tower jobs were said to be so low that after a cell company had gone through so many levels of contractors and sub-contractors, the guy actually climbing the tower was lucky if he was clearing $10 an hour. I'm sure this varies across the industry, because I imagine these guys are paid handsomely for their work.

I almost never wear white tees anymore. Black and gray look much nicer, and oddly, I do have some ralph Lauren tees and while they are just 100% cotton like most other tees, they do seem to last longer.

Thanks for reminding me to pick some up the day after christmas at macys or target or amazon.

I buy my v-necks at Target for $5 each. No need to spend a ton of money on a t-shirt.

I'm black, and I usually do stuff that contrasts with darker skin. Since it's winter I wouldn't do it as much. Try crimson, tan (off-white) and a mild green. Save the orange pink and yellow shirts for summer.

I'm olive complexioned and pull off orange and red on top really well. Orange is closer to red anyway, which is sexy on both sexes.
