take it from me bro, i'm in the fucking hall of fame. i'm retired. my number is hanging from the rafters. i was a professional party guy for 20 years including dj, promoter and distributer.

life is better when you dont do dumb shit like that, no matter how awesome you think it is now.

almost five years since i retired, never miss it one second.

Yeah the arrest is on your record for good if a LE agency wants to check. Not remembering, blackouts are not a good sign. It means your brain went away , like, for real, while the alcohol was in there.

"A friend of mine" had three patients today who had meth-induced psychosis-- years after forced detox.

Sometimes you can blow fuses in your brain, or more accurately melt the filament across so the circuit is permanently "on", and can't fix them. Then you hear voices, or hisses and whispering the rest of your life.

The longer you stay awake and the greater the number of times you go on a burn like that, the more chance you fry something.

Friend of mine was court ordered to do the same in Hollywood. Apparently its a great way to meet movie stars. All of them drink like fish. He didnt pick up anyone, but said a lot of cool people do go to these things. . .

Good luck sir!

I'm now contemplating hitting up the AA and NA meetings nearby, especially in two college neighborhoods close to my house. There's bound to be a decent number of 18-25 yr. old sluts in 'em over a public intox charge.

Don't you get it? Chicks always get off if they're not ugly and don't murder someone.

Hope I'm wrong, though, and you bang successfully.

I disagree with that, a little bit of anything now and again is good.

So how did this work out McQueen?

Gotta be some nice trim at AA in Hollywood.

If it works in WI Hollywood has to be off the charts assuming a guy hits the right meetings.

Quit putting it off man, you may be pleasantly surprised.

First went to na because or a court order when I was a senior in high school.

Guess what? Met a bad ass Ecuadorian and Peruvian chick in there who I smashed for the last ten years until she finally settled down now and got married. She was cute and fun as hell. Hopefully for your sake you will have a similar experience.

The floor is yours in there. I would tell stories that would have the whole room at the edge of their seats. Sometimes the bitch female instructer would even stop me because I was making the drinking and drug life seem to cool.

Cool ass black counselor at the end of my program took me to the side. Gave me some Knucks and was like, "honestly man, you can smoke and drink if you want to you are a fucking pimp!"

Haha. I am sure you will do just fine bro.

Are you telling me that you could have gone to jail for being drunk in public? Doesn't sound like land of the free to me, more like Iran. Send some of those Cali cops to Copenhagen on a random weekend, might be an eye opener for them.

Superb story McQueen. Figure for all the preparation of getting booted n suited to go out, if it doesn't end in shit dripping out the ass, it all wasn't worth it. You've set a new benchmark to beat.

My trick for "drinking" while not drinking is to get lemon juice and club soda. You can't go full on inebriated evey night or your life is most likely going to slip away.

RE: McQueen's Forced Into AA by Cali Courts: Game Time!
Well, hey, if you're still having fun drinking, I don't think any member of AA who has read and understands the Big Book is going to tell you to stop. I don't know. The only requirement is a desire to stop drinking. And people who don't want to stop drinking should just party on.

Then again, the only people who get blackouts are people who are alcoholics ... but, you know, alcoholics don't like to admit they are alcoholics.

"Most of us have been unwilling to admit we were real alcoholics. No person likes to think he is bodily and mentally different from his fellows. Therefore, it is not surprising that our drinking careers have been characterized by countless vain attempts to prove we could drink like other people. The idea that somehow, someday he will control and enjoy his drinking is the great obsession of every abnormal drinker. The persistence of this illusion is astonishing. Many pursue it into the gates of insanity or death."

The fact of the matter is that I can't drink. I can't use drugs. This is not to say it's bad to drink or use drugs. It just means that, for me, my days of drinking are over, because, you know, the good times drinking are gone. They will never come back. I hit a point with my drinking and drug use where it just was not fun any more. So I had to stop, because it was doing me more harm than good.

I think the biggest obstacle for someone here joining AA is that it's a lot harder to get in to some girls pants if both you and the girl are stone cold sober...and AA is a program of complete abstinence from alcohol. It's not a program of "well, let me stop drinking during the week, but weekends are OK". Nor is it a program "it's OK to drink if I only have two beers". Illegal street drugs are out of the question too.

So yeah, AA isn't for everyone, but it's a great place to go for people who don't enjoy drinking any more and are looking for a better life. In terms of gaming: AA meetings tend to be sausage fests. It's like 10 guys for every 2 girls. But, then again, RooshVForum is, by edict, a pure sausage fest but it's a cool place to hang out.

i imagine seeing alcohol as a problem is especially hard to accept when everything else is so good.. you've got looks, 8+ chix, youth, social connections, it's still mostly fun to drink.

I wouldn't be focusing on sober version of fun...except for the blackouts.

That is really scary. You could wake up post-felony, or with a serious injury-- with real problems.

And the people here saying, "Aww shit, yer just having fun hahaha" would say....

....well, you wouldn't know what they say, because there's no computers in jail.

But let's look at the positive side. there are enough straight-edge 9+ chicks in the LA area to keep you exhausted or until you have 10 kids.

They'll have better skin, will stay thinner, have more money....

The difference between having blacked out and blacking out as a matter of course is HUGE.

It seems you are a fan of AA. Not to say I'm not a fan of people helping themselves (and if drinking or something else is a detriment to their lives finding a way for them to stop), but AA doesn't appear to be in any way more successful than the spontaneous remission rate that naturally occurs regardless.

Let's be clear. AA is a religious institute. It is a business.

It is by any measure I've found a FAILURE as a business.

That we have courts handing over our offenders/addicts (who wouldn't choose AA over the lack of alternatives to jail/heavy fines?) is a travesty to the health of society.

May have been mentioned earlier, but I would see if the court considers NA the same as AA for your "rehabilitation" as in my experience you are more likely to find some nice trim at the NA meetings.

Might not be a big difference between the two in LA, but from what I have seen girls are more likely to get busted for pill popping than drinking. Pharmacists, nurses, etc...

Depends on the study being done. Some studies being done do show having AA helping alcoholics who want to stop drinking. Others do not. My experience with the studies which show AA has no more success than spontaneous remission is that they are poorly done.

If we look at the number of people who join the gym, the percentage of gym members who actually lose weight and develop muscle tone is very low. But this does not mean that a gym doesn't work. A gym only works if you regularly attend the gym and properly perform exercise there.

AA is the same thing. It isn't an easy program. But it's one that has a pretty good success rate when properly done: About 75%; 50% of people serious about the AA program succeed right away, and another 25% succeed after relapsing (using illegal drugs or drinking again).

Quote:Let's be clear. AA is a religious institute. It is a business.

There are no dues or fees for AA membership. Seventh tradition contributions are always voluntary. Most meetings are held in churches for a reason: Donations do not make enough money for an average meeting to pay its own rent without being subsidized by a church, treatment program, or someone else.

It is true that AA World Services does make some money from book sales, but if that bothers you, do what I do, and buy the Big Book from a third party (since the Big Book's copyright expired in the US, it's perfectly legal to buy it for little more than the price of printing the paper, or, if you prefer, just downloading it): http://anonpress.org/

People against AA argue that it's the treatment centers that make all of the money and that's money AA makes. But, quite frankly, I didn't need a treatment program to get sober, my sponsor didn't need a treatment program to get sober, and I personally think treatment programs only make sense for chronic relapsers (or people with a lot of money to burn).

Quote:http://www.orange-papers.org/orange-effectiveness.html

The guy who writes those "orange papers" has horrible methodology. Read this: http://green-papers.org/

Anyway, if AA doesn't work for you, that's great. You're welcome to your opinion. It probably isn't a program for everyone. It's a program of attraction, not promotion, and a program of "Live and let live".
