Here's a story about why the LEECHES need to be STAMPED OUT so gubmint doesn't STEAL my money. Like Section 8!

1) Section 8 is housing subsidies for poor people--BAD.
2) Poor people on section 8 never (as long as they're poor) as far as I know buy a house.
3) The money from the Gubmint ( you) goes to the Section 8 Landlords.

4) So the money goes right where it's supposed to-- the "job creators" at the top 1%.

I think police at the Capitol have different marching orders, with some reason. What is a bunch of armed NRA fringers showed up on Congress's steps after the passed a gun law (Stop foaming, it will never happen). Basically a car is considered a deadly weapon. If the police have a reason to fear for their own safety from a crazed driver who won't stop, they are authorized to use deadly force. End of story.

Taxes can only bring in so much revenue. You go over a threshold and returns start to vanish. The tax debate is a herring as taxes have remained steady throught out American history.

You invest in infrastructure and you put men to work and create avenues in which commerce and trade can expand. Where can goods go if roads are crammed, and crumbling; where can goods go if your ports can't take new deep harbor ships that have way more transport capacity; where can new factories get power if your grid is decaying and turning to shit, where can you set up a base to produce if your workers cant even get there because of gridlock. The capital projects of post war Amerca fueled close to 60 years of growth while initially weaning America of a depression.

You build a nation by building shit. Period. If your concerned about petty shit and identit groups then you spiral into the abyss. But if America is serious about nation building it would put cranes up, and shovels in the ground.

All the POTUS has to do is force the FED to fund projects just as FDR did. He has the free power to do so but as inept and corrupt tool choices not too. In that time 98% of Americans had work, 8 million American Men put thier hands to work in laying a foundation of prosperity they reaped the rewards for. This isn't armchair shit to simple good Government and good use of collective Goverrnment funds. Capital projecs is what transforms Nations. Imagine Egypt without its high-Dam, or France without its High-speed rail, Singapore without its massive port, the Gulf without its refineries. That's very interesting. What part of the US do you live in if you don't mind me asking? You won't find whites doing any of those jobs where I live. But I have noticed when traveling to places in bumfuck USA what you've described is common. I had to go to a wedding in Lancaster, PA over the summer and along the way we stopped in some strip mall and every person on staff were young white people.

My theory is that Americans - white or black - won't do those jobs in metropolitan areas where the cost of living is high. Americans aren't going to live in an 2-br apartment/townhouse with like 15 people. That's quite common with illegal immigrants doing those type of jobs though.

Maine, the whitest state in the country, has white people doing regular jobs. Shocker, I know.

Unions aren't the original unions that were originally created for basic protection from unsafe working conditions and extremely long working hours.

Now, it's more about the connections into getting a job that overpays. Not about producing quality work.

Nowadays, it takes a lot longer to build and a lot more to build it.

It's similar to communism. If you knew the right people, you can get an easy job doing BS work and still get paid. Paid well of course.

By tech, I mean more STEM, and I mean non-college. Programming, Networking, Infrastructure, etc.

Hands-on, trade-style work should be a mandatory duty in high school.

The future is 3-month long courses teaching everything there is to know, then throwing you right into the field.

Train them in what? Not everyone can be trained as a doctor or engineer. Our country needs more jobs on all levels. Most jobs in demand are now highly skilled. That leaves out most people.

Even though I was sarcastic about passing a law making people purchase American made products, people do cut their own throats when purchasing product made overseas.

I agreed with most of what you said and still do. Again, you want to make this a democrat vs. republican issue but it simply isn't. The democrats want to give out the freebies to those poor people to get the votes but they also want to be able to pay for them. There is also a flip side to it which you simply ignore. The republicans want to keep the middle class impoverished so big business can continue to build on job insecurity and depress wages.
