I used to say that I wanted a smart girl, but now that I've been with a few smoking hot girls, I will take the 8-9 any day over a smart girl. Sure, conversation is totally different, but the hot girl is a whole lot more fun of a ride

I would say that in practice the average guy tends to hook up with a girl (long term) with a slightly lower IQ than himself. This makes sense since guys are said to have a slightly higher average IQ's than girls. So it's just assortive mating. Not that most guys consciously care about a girls IQ one way or the other. We care about girls being hot, and some other personal characteristics that are not really dependent on intelligence. But things typically work out were like is matched to like in terms of IQ and many other things. The invisible hand of the relationship market if you will.

For guys who really do have a very high IQ things get much more complicated since the higher you go the fewer women there are with that IQ. At ultra high IQ level I think the ratio is 1000's of men to 1 woman. i.e. Women's IQ distribution curve is more compressed, men's a bit flatter with more guys very high (or very low) compared to women. Incidentally Harvard's ex-president, Summers, got into massive trouble for pointing this out. In fact it's the reason he is "ex"-president.

So, an ultra high IQ guy has almost zero chance of even meeting a girl at his level, unless they specifically meet through a high IQ society. But even here the problem is that very high IQ is not cost-free. There are negative personal effects - from around 145 I think. But this is for men. Women experience major psychological adjustment trouble at a lower level. There's an interesting, if rather long winded article discussing this, amongst other things, here:

One day I'll have to go look carefully at those studies which say intelligence in the mother is critical to the child's. I have a feeling that it's full of massaged numbers like other feminist-influenced studies. It's only anecdotal but I simply do not see this correlation in my extended family. My dad's side of the family have high IQs, both he and I are over 140. My mum, bless her and her amazing cooking, is a few standard deviations below us. All the kids in the family that have high IQs appear to inherit that from the father. The women - even high IQ ones - who marry dumber (but rich lol) men have much dumber kids. Smart dad + dumb mum always seem to produce smart kids.

OTOH, the mother's health has a much bigger effect on the child's health. I'd worry more about that than intelligence.

My friend's sister is in fact an obese Mensa member, who is married to a doctor and has produced a few fat kids. Despite her high IQ (highest among her siblings), she has close to zero curiosity and is a bore. You wouldn't be able to tell that she has high IQ, with her constantly going on the BS detox diet and lame lazy exercise regime to lose weight with bugger all success. Her kids seem to do ok at school but nothing outstanding, and they're already fucked for life with the terrible diet and lifestyle habits they've got from their mother.

i live with a girl that is a bonafide hottie. not just that i think she is hot, but everywhere we go people tell me how gorgeous she is.

that being said, after three years, i can barely muster the strength to fuck her. she comes on to me hard and strong and i am uninterested.

i will, however, happily bang the 6's and 7's i have on rotation. the desire is intense and the sex is hot.

my point is saying this, is that a girl's hotness seems to have little correlation with long term attractiveness.

A hot girl who is completely retarded and annoying ceases to be hot. I know a girl like this. Very good looking, but the bitch is a retard. Like a bumbling fucking idiot who is always quoting LMFAO and Kesha. "Hey party rockers!! WHOOOOO!!" "Don't be a square bear!" "Sorry for party rockin!"

I am curious about this. Is there any evidence of any hereditary traits, not just IQ, that are more dependent on either the mother or the father?

If this is the case it would have quite a far reaching impact on the way we view genetics and human biology.

As for some high IQ people not being intellectually curious. There's no guarantee someone with a high IQ will be useful, interesting or the like. While high IQ is undoubtedly a requirement for achievement in many fields it's not anywhere close to sufficient. If only this were the case. The world would move forward at an accelerated pace.

Well bad hussar's earlier post should assuage some fears, if there are 1000 super smart guys for every 1 super smart girl, and this is all occurring randomly then I'd say the chances of having a smart son if the man is smart is great.

The only thing to worry about is having a daughter.
