Glasgow is a rough city but has improved a fair bit in the last few years. It had a murder rate comparable to American cities, making it the highest in Western Europe. Most of this was due to knives and gangs, heavy drinking and drug culture. Life expectancy in some parts of the city for men is 57 years old, bleak place.

Manchester used to be a rough city in the 90s, but now its just your typical big city, nothing exceptionally bad. Good nightlife, big student base and there are some nice suburbs around the city.

Leeds, has its rough areas and traditionally is a poor city but you get a lot of students there and the nightlife is meant to be good.

Warwick is a top university (as in, academically), but I don't know anything about Coventry as a city. I doubt it's much to write home about when the students aren't around. Similar to Nottingham, I would expect.

The campus is in the middle of nowhere, between two towns, Coventry & Leamington Spa. Most students live in either place, Leamington Spa is a middle class town, good place to live, but I don't see the night life being that spectacular. Coventry will have cheaper housing, its not a good city to be honest, quite run down, bad reputation; but you will have a better night life, night clubs etc.

The university is very good, a lot of international students there; good prospects. Personally if you are after a good night & University there are way better options around. University of Nottingham/Birmingham/leeds/Manchester/Bristol. Are all good; avoid London unless there is a specific course you want to do, this is the only area, where I would say the rest of the U.K is worth going for.

Fair enough, I'll scratch Warwick off the list then. I was interested in Exeter too but I had the feeling the town wasn't as popping. If you had to choose between a semester at U of Nottingham or Leeds, where would you go?

Both are good, although all the people I know say Nottingham is excellent. The city is meant to have a ratio of women outnumbering men by 4 to 1. I am not sure if that still stands, as this was a few years ago. The city used to have a bad reputation and a lot of gun crime. Although it is way safer now, and has a good vibe. You have sherwood forest, a city centre that is decent. Good nightclub scene, I really rate it highly if you are doing student nights out.

There will be a lot of international students around the city as well, but the english girls going to the Unis will be the best looking ones you probably will see in the country. As they come from the affluent areas in the South East and Far West.

I suggest going University of Nottingham, Trent University is decent but not as good. Also it will be a lot cheaper than going to University of Warwick which to be honest I found to be depressing when I used to go through it.

University of Leeds is a good one, the city itself is bigger than Nottingham, nightlife will be good, and probably will be cheaper to live in than Nottingham. Although I would chose Nottingham, over the latter.

I dig some digging. U of Leeds is closer to the Leed's nightclubs than U of Nottingham is to Nottingham's. If I was staying on residence halls (as I probably will since I'd be guaranteed a room), it seems I'd have better logistics in Leeds.

Unless the area around U of Nottingham (Lenton and Beeston) goes off that is. This might be a long shot but does anyone know if most students from that university mainly go out in Nottingham city centre or closer to campus?

That shouldn't be a concern, there will be places around campus, but taxis are cheap and if you are with people in halls, you will probably all pre drink beforehand and then get a taxi together to the city centre. Usually what happens in the U.K, take in mind its not a big city and this is Britain, you can pretty much walk everywhere.

"In some parts of the city" - I'd emphasise this a little more. Glasgow is a particularly hetrogenous city in terms of its sociodemographic makeup.

Some parts of the city, mostly in the East and, to a lesser extent, the South, are fucking awful, where you'd regularly see needles which have presumably been used by some baseball cap-wearing ned to mainline heroin into his cock.

Other parts, particularly in the West, are about as middle-class as you can find in the UK outside of Southeast England. You can hardly throw a stick without it hitting a healthfood shop selling speltflour bread and vegetarian bacon to the students and university workers with an average IQ of about 140.

I wish this thread has been called "Easiest girls in Britain"; I've found some of the highest quality British women to be outside of England.

I live in Exeter, and the nightlife can be good, it just depends when you go. You need to come during the uni term time (September to may). During term time there are a lot of hot girls out, and a guy with game should enjoy success. If you spend some time in the UK its worth coming down for a day/ night, because its a nice city as well.
