Lyon, France (Data Sheet)
Being my first post on the site, I decided to contribute a little something.
Full Disclosure:
I stayed in Lyon for approximately a month and have conversational French skills, English is my first language. Be cognizant of that.
Background:
When it comes to tier-two cities, I believe that Lyon is a gem in France. It is the second largest metropolitan area in the country (Paris is #1) and it is a city with enough women, culture and activities to keep one occupied on longer stays.
Logistics:
Staying anywhere in the downtown area is preferable - especially being in close proximity to Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon) or Presqu'ile (the most central area of the city). For those looking to save money, Lyon has an excellent metro system (called the TCL) which will allow you quick access into the downtown area while staying on the outskirts of the city. Please be aware that the "suburbs" of Lyon, are not like those in North America. These areas are generally the more impoverished communities and may make some feel uncomfortable, especially at night. From a logistics standpoint, girls may also be apprehensive traveling to these parts of the city, particularly when it is dark - plan your accommodations accordingly.
Nightlife:
The vast majority of nightlife transpires around the areas listed above: Vieux Lyon and Presqu'ile. Vieux Lyon is more focused on the bar scene, with plenty of places packed with women in a relatively small area. Generally speaking, this area is a hub for foreign students (read: open to socializing) and for the most part, there is decent fluency of English amongst both the students and staff of these establishments. This is a great thing and something you can use to your advantage; many of these women will relish the opportunity to practice their English OR they may just be relieved to speak with someone in their native language (many students come to Lyon from the UK, Canada and US).
Presqu'ile also has a nice collection of bars, as well as live music venues and nightclubs. This is a nice area to game but there will definitely be higher bitch shields. In my opinion, the best way to meet and bang women in Lyon is through day-game.
Day-Game:
There are several day game areas which afford a high concentration of attractive women. First of all, Lyon has a huge student population with three main universities (Lyon 1, Lyon 2 & Lyon 3) as well as a host of other post-secondary institutions. Gaming on campus is rather easy, and many women will be approachable. The best angle to take is of someone looking to practice French / English or thinking about coming there as an exchange student. This usually gets their guard down and yields an easy transition to a date later that evening.
In terms of street game, players should find themselves around the Hotel de Ville / Opera area of Presqu'ile. Tons of nice women walk along the street, oftentimes by themselves. Another day game gem is the largest mall in the city, as well as a transit hub: Part-Dieu. I have generally found the women here to be less approachable then in the aforementioned places, but this is still a spot that shouldn't be missed.
Date Ideas:
There are a host of inexpensive ways to get a bang:
take a girl on a walk to Parc de la tete D'Or
Visit Fouviere
Just walk around (French girls are surprisingly open to this)
For those who don't care about the $$, there are a host of fine dining options - Lyon is the gastronomical capital of France and it certainly does not disappoint. There are a host of museums, theatres and fine arts shows that are ever-changing so I won't specifically document. They will be easier to find and there are tourist booths around the city who can provide the pertinent information.
Summary:
Lyon is a great city, with approachable girls and only a 2 hour train ride from Paris - check it out!
Feel free to ask any questions.

I have lived in Lyon myself for a few years and what you said is very true.
Eventhough I wouldn't approach girls in the Part-Dieu mall as all the chavs from the "banlieues" flock in there to aggressively approach women look for trouble or just hang around in groups...and the girls there are mainly female chavs, or just lame chicks with heavy-makeup, loud rap-music screaming from their iphones, totally unattractive. We call them "Poufs", which is a derogatory term...
Quality women can be found, like you stated, in campus, in the city centre and in high-end clubs.
Lyon is a very lively city, cheaper than Paris but has all what Paris has to offer, but with fewer tourists.

The fact is, there is less competition, smaller bitch shields and a very high concentration of women in Lyon that in my opinion, make it a superior place for meeting and getting women. As you mentioned, it is also cheaper and still allows you to have a very high quality of life surrounded by high quality girls.
Edelweiss, maybe you can expand a little bit on the high-end club scene in Lyon as I did not frequent it often because of my reliance on day game.
I haven't been to Lyon in a while, after I graduated.
But apart from all the bars on Vieux-Lyon and Presqu'ile, one can go to a couple of nice clubs, right next to each other:
Barrio Club: it's a latin-based club with a lot of hot women willing to shake their bodies to salsa, and other genres of latin music. If you can dance, you'll be a star.
After Barrio you can go to the First Club, in the same block. This is a very elitist club, where you can play night-game with abundance of fine women.
You can find both these clubs at place Jules Ferry.
Other clubs include La Marquise, a boat-club on the Rhone river.
I don't have fond memories of the other clubs, but you should be fine with these three.
Also if you'd like student parties woth flocks or Erasmus exchange students from Scandinavia and the UK, you can go to Ayers Rock, also a boat-club with cheap beer.
I hope this helps.

In Lyon now for a couple days and what you said above is very true re the mall near Part Dieu. Will check out the higher end clubs hopefully tomorrow night and report back.
Sort of intrigued as to what I'll find here - in general so far French girls tend to be more feminine and more on the stylish-side than the German women. Also a bit more slender. Def better than the US but lagging EE of course.

Wow did some walking around the Old Town and have to say French girls are definitely higher up on my list now. Much better here generally than most parts of Germany where I was previously. It's not EE, but it's a nice change from the Anglosphere (& my brief foray in the Germano-sphere) for sure.
Girls seems to still dress feminine and are fashion conscious, at least in Lyon. The younger ones don't seem to be anywhere near as fat as our awful Anglosphere ladies either. They also have makeup on and wear sexy looking ensembles as well -- not as many high heels as in Russia mind you, but you do see more of the leather outfit with boots kinda thing. I smiled at a lot of women and they smile right back here - they are used to being complimented on their looks I think (!).
One thing...French guys don't seem to give a sh*t and are not afraid to approach, at least from my limited time here. It's the opposite of Germany I'd say - they are ready to cold approach -- witnessed it 2x on the street and once at a cafe. They seem like they are much bigger competitors than you'd get in Germany, the UK or US for example where most guys don't approach.
My day game sucks by the way. Did a couple awkward approaches playing 'dumb tourist' which were fairly quickly rejected. Oh well no biggie, going to try the clubs tonight and see if I can scrounge up a garbage goal )

I am curious about this. Actually, the only french people who dare cold approaching in the street in France are maybe the most good-looking ones, people who study the game online on pua forums, and maybe the "wesh" guys, who just compliment the women and speak in a quite bad french.

RE: Lyon, France (Data Sheet)
For for the foreigners, it is definitely a city you want to visit.
As someone said in that thread earlier, french people go out with their friends at night and stick with them. We guys are going to approach girls but more when they are alone or just with a few girl friends. If you approach a whole group of friends, people will look at you suspiciously and will look down on you. They are not going to be friendly like in anglo countries.
Also there is a lot of social pressure for the girls to not look like a slut in front of their friends, so it makes it harder for you.
That's why I would suggest to run day game, you will have a more pleasant time with them.
You might hear from them that they hate to be approach by day, but it is just because most of the guys who do it are wanna be ghetto thugs or just losers.
So if you are a decent looking guy with a nice style (the style is really important in France, so be sharpe) and you're confident and friendly, you will have a positive response.
Just don't overdo it and don't be too cocky, just being friendly and flirty is enough with french girls.

ha, hope that means you enjoyed Paris. Too bad we didnt get to meet up.
Fun fact: a lot of cute girls in Paris are actually from Lyon. I know 2-3 among my friends.
That being said, what makes Paris quality so high is it being an international city. Hottest girls here will always be the EE, some elite Arab girls and mixed girls. French girls overall can be very cute but pure blood French rarely hit 9s. Still an upgrade over Anglo-Saxon girls
Quote:French girls are more feminine than the Anglo-German ones for sure. But damn they are also the most independent ones I've known, but at the same time, tend to become very clingy and jealous once you're in a relationship with them.
A cliché that is true. French girls crave drama. They are jealous and clingy and they cheat a lot. My observation is that the more she is jealous/clingy, the more she is likely to cheat. It all comes down to emotional instability.
I've learned to love them though.
Seriously considering a move to Lyon from Paris. How about the job market there?
