For Settlement Class Members who submit a claim with purchase receipts documenting proof of purchase, there will be no limit on the number of bottles or containers for which reimbursement will be made.

As a former user of Jack3d I could not with good conscience profit from a product that gave me so much. As far as a pre-workout I have never experienced anything like it. It was basically lemon flavoured speed and got me through many hungover gyms sessions throughout college. And at a price of $30? It was a steal, unlike most supplements it did exactly what it said on the tin. Sure, it may have done irreparable damage to my heart but it's small price to pay to look Jack3d

RE: Supplementing Your Income with Side Hustles - $15,000 US a year
Don't know if there are any other dry cleaning fellows here on RVF but here's a hustle of sorts I've got going on... A lot of people in my neighborhood know who I am and what I do for a living. So they'll bring their coats, comforters, suits etc to my place, and I'll take 'em to work... then a few days later they can pick 'em back up from me at home.

A lot of brothas in the neighborhood bring their coats to me before winter hits... At my work, we charge about twelve to twenty bucks to dry clean a coat. I charge twenty five to forty bucks, and chuck one or two of the brothas coats in each dry cleaning load. In October and November, I can make a thousand or more bucks in cash for a few hours worth of work.

I've also contemplated a pick-up and delivery system at some of the local law firms. I'd probably need a van with garment racks to do this and make a reasonable amount, but a used cargo van is cheap. Ideally I'd have a few firms and pick up laundry bags full of each clients suits/dress shirts/ties, have them dry-cleaned and pressed, then deliver 'em a few days later. I could negotiate a cheaper garment rate because of volume (letting someone else do the hard work), charge my customers a premium for the delivery service, and pocket a reasonable amount with few stops if I developed a good number of client list at particular firms.

Hell, if the pick-up and delivery idea took off, I could probably sooner or later hire a driver and let them take care of that while I try to find more firms/clients.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

RE: Supplementing Your Income with Side Hustles - $15,000 US a year
I kind of hate myself for doing this, but after the Newtown massacre there was a panic run on "assault weapons" and ammunition. I made a decent amount of money finding ammo at low prices and flipping it online or at gun shows. Bigger retailers like Walmart were not quick to update their prices, so I was getting .223 for about $30 a box of 100 by showing up early every morning (at about 5 AM) and reselling them from anywhere to $70 - $80 for a couple weeks.

It died down some after Congress failed to pass additional gun control laws but I still made some decent money by grabbing up ammo from various online vendors who were, for whatever reason, still selling ammo cheap and reselling it. I had to use one of those page refresh alert things and have my CC info ready to go, but I was usually among the first to scoop shit up.

Things have finally normalized and in some cases prices are lower than they were before on ammo, so now is the time to buy. It's not a quick hustle but buying some here and there and saving it for a rainy day to sell when it's hot is a good idea, especially as the presidential election of 2016 approaches and people are worried about Hillary Clinton's reign of terror.

Over in the Quick ways to make a legit cash grab thread, el mechanico suggests:

Quote:Learn how to do Title/ warehouse and storage liens. Fastest cash you can make if you are good with paperwork and people.

He then expands a bit a few posts later:

Quote:No good on the title liens? The guy that files them for me charges $550 and told me he filed 90 in one week.
In South Florida guys are putting ads for Repo solutions and filing storage liens on cars in repo that they buy for pennies.
Out of about 15 this year the banks only bonded one on me.
A boat that was owed 65k on they didn't even respond to the certified letter

Anyone know anything about getting started doing this? Do you need any special qualifications or skills?

$550 x 90 = $49,500 almost $50 g's weekly. I'm sure the fellow making that money probably has an office of staff and some weeks are better than others, but hell, if I could file ten a week at $225 I would be doubling my income.

Goddamn! If you could outsource that to some filipinos you'd be making a killing!

And I know you absolutely could!

Not quite - from what little I've learned from a bit of Googling, in order to file a lien you must do so in person at a county courthouse.

You bring up some interesting hustles, Cincinnatus. I have a local dry cleaner that charges $1.75 for any type of garment (!) except for suede. It's pretty ridiculous how cheap they are... can definitely see the arbitrage possibilities from charging $10/piece for a delivery service without the up-front costs of equipment or machinery.

Even talking to my cousins who used to own several dry cleaners and a commercial laundry, $1.75/piece means they're doing a ridiculous amount of volume to make any sort of money... what's a few hundred pieces more a week brought in by an enterprising middleman?

$1.75 for most clothing is quite cheap. One of the cleaners I pitch in at from time to time charges customers $10 for a suit jacket and pants, and $4 for a shirt. If one guy brings me 5 suits and 5 shirts, at those prices (minus paying someone $1.75 per garment) I can pocket an easy $50. And another buck or two for convenience and I can pocket $75.

A couple of months ago one of my neighbors gave me two comforters and two coats to dry clean. Gave me $80. I took the stuff to work, chucked it in the dry cleaner, and gave my boss a twenty. Took the stuff back to my neighbor that night with $60 extra in my pocket for not even fifteen minutes of extra work.

EDIT: Regarding volume - another dry cleaner I deal with occasionally does wholesale shirts for other dry-cleaners at $1.50 per shirt. The wholesaler averages between one and two thousand shirts per day. They've got a skeleton crew, too - a few Korean pressers working on double buck presses, an owner that runs the washing machines, and and a delivery driver.

el mech, how does the filing liens for profit work exactly? I'm good with people and paperwork but I'm trying to figure out how exactly one finds clients, figures out what price to charge, and actually gets the shit done.

RE: Supplementing Your Income with Side Hustles - $15,000 US a year
Several pages back, someone mentioned hunting for silver coins which is known as Coin Roll Hunting. I have been doing this as a hobby for several years so I can shed some light on it. I am not posting this as a $15000 per year side hustle. I am only giving in depth clarification of it because it was mentioned previously in the thread.

I call it a hobby because my production from this is not truly worth my time. But I have a lot of fun doing it. If you enjoy the thrill of the hunt and the thrill of finding some pretty cool stuff now and then, this might be of interest. And of course it is always possible that the price of silver could go through the roof at some point in the future and your silver findings could be worth much more money. My banks don't charge fees and I drive past both banks several times per week, so it only costs time.

I have been coin roll hunting for about 4 1/2 years, and keeping records for 3 years. Results will be posted below, after I explain how to do this, step by step.

1. Find a bank which will order boxes of half dollars for you free of charge. This is your pickup bank. CRH lingo sounds appealing already, doesn't it? I have a standing order for 6 boxes ($3000 in halves) from one of my banks every week. A box of halves contains 50 paper wrapped rolls of half dollars. There are 20 halves in a roll, so a box costs $500. I already had an account at my pickup bank and when I asked for the boxes they had no problem. DON'T bother with CRH if your bank insists that they will charge you for this service.

2. Find a bank which will take the halves which you have searched as deposits. I went into a bank that I did not have an account with, introduced myself to a manager and said this "I have $3000 per week in coins which I would like to deposit in a bank. I want to be able to deposit the coins loose (not rolled) inside of the heavy plastic bags which your courier uses. Are you interested in my business?" First bank said they only would take them in rolls. Second bank said "Yes." They provide me with bags free of charge. DON'T bother with CRH if you can't find a dump bank. NEVER dump at your pickup bank.

3. If you have made it through 1 and 2 then you are ready to go. Get your boxes, cut one open and you will see the end coins of a bunch of rolls. Look at all of those end coins. If they all have a shiny chrome look then they are probably all "clad" coins. The value of the metal in a clad half dollar is far less than 50 cents. If you see one or several which have a more whitish look then congratulations, you probably found a coin with some silver content. One on the end of a roll is called an "ender". More interesting lingo.

4. Machine rolled coins have a round "rolled" area to the paper on each end. I like to make a diagonal cut to one end of each roll in situ, before I remove the rolls from the box. Cut the opposite end of rolls with an ender. There is no point in risking putting a mark on a valuable coin.

5. Now remove each roll, peel off the wrapper while holding the roll of coins in your palm. Look at the edges. You are looking for a whitish or brownish tinge to the edge. A non tarnished coin will shine like the moon among its clad bretheren. With tarnish some will look brownish or yellowish. Clad coins will have a copper look to the edge. Date search ambiguous looking coins.

6. Throw the clad 1971-present halves into your coin bag which will go to the dump bank. Find some clad halves somewhere to replace any silver coins you find in your boxes. Two boxes of clad halves fills up the bag ($1000). It takes me 10 minutes or so to edge search a box. Seal it up in preparation to taking to the dump bank for deposit.

7. You are looking for 1965-1970 Kennedy halves which are 40% silver, 1964 Kennedy Halves which are 90% silver, Ben Franklin halves and Walking Liberty halves are also 90% silver. You may think that you would never find these older coins but I actually found 1 Ben and 2 Walkers this week. I also save the coins which are called cameo proofs. These are clad coins which have an S (San Francisco) mint mark, very shiny background, and a frosted Kennedy bust on the front / frosted Eagle on the back. These coins are easy to identify by edge search because the reeding (ridges on the edge) are much stronger. These coins were minted and sold as collectibles, but somehow found their way into circulation. Because they have been banged around a little now they are known as "impaired proofs".

8. Keep the coins with silver content (and proofs if you like), deposit the clad coins at your dump bank. Rinse and repeat.

My results from the past 3 years:
2012: 282 boxes / 21 90% / 201 40% / 37.3 toz / .13 toz per box
2013: 249 boxes / 93 90% / 273 40% / 74 toz / .30 toz per box
2014: 186 boxes / 42 90% / 203 40% / 45.2 toz / .24 toz per box

156.5 troy ounces of silver @ $16.57 per ounce (current quote, it fluctuates daily) is $2593.20. Some of my finds, Walking Liberty halves in particular, may have a small premium in numismatic value but I am only using silver content in my calculation.

Additionally you always ask your banks if they have any customer wrapped rolls (CWR's) or any loose halves. You buy them all, don't pick through them. CWR's and loose are MUCH richer in silver in the long run than boxes. Over the last 3 years I have picked up a total of 14-90% silver halves and 95-40% silver halves, not bad since I was there anyway.

Anyway, these are real numbers. For me, it falls far short of being a truly profitable use of my time but I enjoy it and it does stack some silver over time. Consider it if you think it would be fun.

TLDR: Earlier in the thread someone mentioned what is known as Coin Roll Hunting. It is not a wildly profitable venture but can be fun. Details on how to do it above. Personal experiences above.

I know someone that has contact with local banks and fairly often people bring in silver coins not knowing what they are worth to be redeemed for just face value (1 silver quarter = $0.25.) This guy buys them from the bank employees who act as spotters.

Seeing as how el mech isn't a regular in this thread, does anyone know about filing title liens to make money? What kind of experience or specialized knowledge one might lead? How much one might reasonably expect to make, the time involved? How one might go about getting clients?

Exactly. This is the most efficient way to get silver. Customer wrapped rolls (CWR) and loose change is much richer than the boxes. I am convinced that most of the velocity of boxes is caused by people doing what I am doing: buying boxes, culling silver, then redepositing. The silver found in boxes is mostly the stuff which is deposited in bank's change sorters or given to tellers for deposit. So what your buddy is doing is getting silver coins upstream of courier boxes.

You can learn how to do it from a tow yard or junkyard.Or find someone and pay them.

The sky is the limit on what you can make because many times people or banks don't show up for the car/boat/RV etc and you can buy them to resale..

As far as clients you can make a website or go knock on doors at storage places, shops, dealerships, marinas and put ads on CL or even rent a yard and store stuff then do your own.

Thanks for the reply. I've been compiling a list of every storage lot, mechanics shop, and car dealership in my county. I'm probably going to incorporate under a somewhat generic name, build a website, then start cold calling, sending mailers, or knocking on doors - perhaps all three.

The actual process of filing the lien looks relatively simple - prepare an affidavit, have the mechanic/storage operator/dealership sign and date the affidavit, then file at the county courthouse. Then either pay a process server to deliver the paper, deliver it oneself, or send the paperwork via certified mail.

Tonight I'm going to search for any local lien filing services, then call them tomorrow afternoon asking for a quote about how much they charge to file a lien. Should give me an idea of how much can be charged in this area.

I think once you get licensed you may have access to the DMV computer the guy here does.
