You guys are newbies at this platano knowledge. If you want to live forever, listen to a Dominican Albino, and eat yaroa.

This is how I pulled 30+ hr tears in the DR like a boss. Pure magic in Styrofoam. Would eat this at the bottom of the 9th inning when things were looking bad, and come back with a grand slam.

It's great in Puerto Rico, of course, and there was an awesome spot in NorCal.

Havent' found a good spot in L.A. for it.

Depends on how you season it. Typically not overly salty.

Hit one of my fav spots for taking a hot date or meeting some dimes. Had my regular sushi with platano maduro and a side of mashed platano maduro. Life is good!

I roasted them with olive oil and salt. They taste pretty bland to me, very starchy but I think they have high resistant starch which is good for you.

Sushi con maduros is gooood.

I learned how to make the popular dessert called "maduros en gloria". It's fried platanos mixed with sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, etc.

Those in the first post look pretty ripe. The best way they taste is fried. We call them "Tostones" and in Colombia they're called "Patacones".

Also, mofongo.

Pd. Both of the pictures look pretty bad. Most places have better food than that.

RE: The Plantains Thread
They're called patacones here in CR, too. You use really green platanos for patacones.
