KLM has fares that are $200 less to cities like Budapest, Greece, Milan, and Amsterdam.

Otherwise, Norwegian Air has the best deals out of them all.

Although, I hear mixed reviews about them. Even though they fly Dreamliners for the transatlantic flights.

Usually not - its usually just ex-whatever city listed, reverse often is a different fare.

What I meant is that I'm looking for deals out of HKG - and I was kidding about expecting you to post them for me.

Also - aside from sales, do you have any general advice for planning US->overseas travel over New Year's? Do fares tend to be lower if you leave before/after certain dates (i.e. before the 30th, after the 2nd, etc)? Thanks for any guidance you can give.

In terms of domestic travel, my observation is that fares rise significantly between December 18th and January 5th. I might be off by a day or two on either end. The airlines know when demand is at a premium and they take advantage of it. I have no advice other than to try the free miles gambit (see the other thread) with an airline that has minimal blackout days during holiday periods -- or, if that is not possible, try to book real early.

Following up on New Year's travel - looks like Dec 26 and Jan 1 flight dates were the cheapest for my searches to Dublin, Vienna, Munich and Brussels.

I shopped a few airports and it looked like ORD (O'Hare) was the cheapest, JFK a bit more and DC much more.

I found $800USD-RT itineraries ORD<->Dublin and ORD<->Vienna, both were nonstop both ways. I have to return the morning on NYD but not the worst thing to save several hundred $.

Orbitz's search-around feature is really nice, showing a 2D table of fares depending on changing your outbound or return.
