United has some more good fares from select cities in the US to Hawaii.

For instance, if you search for random dates from ATL and DTW to HNL you will be able to find fares for under 500 RT!

LAX has some great fares for some dates too. Less than 630.

Qatar airways has a nice sale going on from east coast airports such as JFK, PHilly, and Washington to quite a few cities out in Asia.

Bangkok, Bali and Maldives are included. Prices are in the rage of 1100-1150. Nice deal.

I even saw JFK to Maldives this winter for under 1400.

Seems like you can travel from Nov 1st until mid June. Check their website for details while mix-matching dates/to and from destinations.

As I said yesterday, Qatar Airways has a nice sale going to some cities in Africa, Australia, Middle East and Asia.

Qatar Airways is also known as being a 5 star airline along with Singapore Air, Malaysian Airlines and a couple of other asian airlines.

I've seen flights from Philly to Ethiopia for under 1,000! Travel is November through sometime in June. This is an excellent sale.

I know Scotian and few others have planned or are planning an RVF Africa tour for next year so this might be your best chance to book great seats. You must book by 11:59pm Oct 24 I believe.

ANA has a sale going to Manila from San Jose for travel in February through late March. Those are the dates that seemed to work but you're going to have to mix/match dates.

Prices seem to be in the mid to upper 700s.

I saw a great deal to Brazil (Porto Alegre) from Miami on Taca on Feb 3-10th for mid 300s

Take 20% off select (not sure what they mean exactly by that) RT flights using Virgin Air. Must travel on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday travel. For Monday, Thursday, and Friday Flights use the same code to take 10% off. Valid travel dates vary by route, beginning Nov 4th, 8th or 12th and ending December 17th. Hey CThunder:

I've been conducting some preliminary search into flights from LAX to Manilla, and i am considering leaving early February 2014 and returning late March 2014, and some of the flights are in the $900 range, but most are in the $1000 range. A lot of the promotionals in the $700 range are short-term and only cover like a few days and a few window periods.

In other words, its seems to me that the promotionals are frequently for the wham bamm thank you ma'am type of travel rather than getting those promotional and/or cheaper rates for longer periods of travel.

Any thoughts or tricks, anybody?

Later in the year, I will be considering either open ended tickets or staying in a location (such as Phils) for about 5 months at a time.... but hoping to do so in an economic way. If RT flights are cheaper to BKK or Hong Kong or something then I would also consider doing that and then just catching a local flight to Phils.

I'd wait a little bit to book. If you're flying from LAX you could probably wait as late as Jan 2 if you're flying out Feb 1st. Airlines are still putting out their fall deals as of now. Between Nov and January 1st I expect many airlines to have quite a few deals to SE Asia, specifically HK, Seoul and Tokyo. From there (especially HK) you can use air Asia or another budget airline to get to Manila.

If you can find a fare to Manila from any US city was for 900 and under then take it. The lowest I've ever seen in the last two years was around 760. That was because the fare sale was for an introductory route.

I'll keep an eye out though.

Cathay Pacific will be adding another RT non stop route from LAX to HK next June. That means they have a introductory fare price for travel June 1st-June 30th from those two cities. Fare prices are around 770 for a RT in June (low season I believe)
