Its downloading free pirated movies/music from various sites. I don't bother, its just easier to sack up and pay the money to buy content from Itunes.

Should I buy a fax app or buy a fax machine? How do you fax from this?

I guess you will need a fax modem.

Will I ever hear it again?

Every time you open a file the OS checks to see if it's fragmented. If it's in more than 8 chunks it'll automatically defragment it. It's also a lot smarter about how where on the harddrive to write files depending on how often they're used so it's less likely that a file will end up fragmented in the first place.

I disagree unless there's a lot of standardized only-in-paper forms you need to fax.

I use a fax service, it's very easy to take a photo, upload and fax, doesn't take up space or paper, and is clearer for recipient.

And especially for certain members of this board, you can't lose the incoming fax when you're on a time and space altering absinthe and tequila bender. (You can still use the fax service from your psychiatric hospital bed with laptop.)

It also remembers the numbers and you have a record of what you sent besides what's hidden in the blasted machine.

A fringe benefit is the ultra-homo pink decor on this vendor's web page.

I think they're trying to market it to wimmens.

Depends on how much content you download. If you are like me, I only download HD rips of TV shows and movies that I watch usually (720p or 1080p) and download whatever music I want. If anything once you know how to use torrents, it's easier than paying to buy content from itunes. Plus you know it's free and you don't have to deal with the restrictions of downloading something via the itunes store. I would be spending quite a bit of money if I bought everything from itunes.

How is your monitor connected to the Mac?

Make sure its connected by HDMI to the thunderbolt slot on the MacMini. If you connect HDMI from monitor to HDMI on the MacMini, there are font issues.

Once you connect to the thunderbolt slot, then you can reconnect back to HDMI later.

I had this exact same issue with my MacMini and this is how I solved it.

For some reason, it doesnt seem to pick up when you first connect the cable. Some monitors can pick up it quickly while others cannot. So it depends on what monitor one buys.

I thought Mac was supposed to be good to go out of the box. Oh the irony of this thread.

My prediction is Emech will have a meltdown around when this thread hit 1K posts. His Mac will be put on Craigslist.

Aliblahba - I'm surprised you haven't blamed the forum troubles on el mechanico switching to a mac.

I bought an Asus monitor today.. PA248Q from Tiger direct. I tested all of them with this forum to see which looked the best. Heading over to hook it up in a few.

This thread is going to be like 3K+ posts. Emech should just start a "won't my GayMac work" blog and link it in his signature. There are so many fanboys he many get enough traffic to make money to buy another computer. Let's help him think of some domain names.

About the Mac, it's so fluid to use and seems natural. Forty more minutes on it I'll have Alis computer skillz left behind. I feel like I'm not spinning my wheels.

Admit it El Mech, you're addicted to this forum. Also, I left you a post in the "RVF 10 years from now" thread about monitor recommendations.

I'm a powerhouse poster on many forums but I've got something for that 10 year thread.

This monitor is 1000X better so far.

Recently tried the reverse for the hell of it, I thought I would try some android devices, a Google Nexus 7, an Android phone, in addition to my main Macbook Airs and iPhone. Hands down, will not be switching from my Mac products until they pry them from cold dead fingers.
