Go to Best Buy or Frys and try their keyboards/monitors out.....BUT buy them on amazon, they're cheaper there.

Keyboards with the apple layout have a better "click" when typing, logitech makes good products. Try to go wireless, less clutter and you're not put in one place.

Here are a couple of keyboards that exclusively made to work with macs. They have all the keys that macs need. I would choose logitech keyboards, but the Anker (#5) and Macally (#4) are pretty good too.

What I meant was this. The seperated keys are better than keyboards with grouped keys, something started by Apple. They feel better to type in, you can type faster and typos decrease.

Yeah, they're for sale on office depot....ask the sales guy for the Mac type, it should say "Logitech blah blah for mac" on the box.

I have the solar one, battery should last you about 4 months. Buy spare batteries on ebay, 8-12 bucks for a 3-pack.

6 years, two different machines, and not a SINGLE problem: no blue screen of death, never had a virus (I don't have protection and I download from torrents weekly), never had my laptop literally fall apart on me (thanks HP!). The best computer decision I ever made. I'm not a huge tech person, and the switch over was easy and painless. It's all very intuitively designed. My iPhone 4 is at least 3 years old now and works flawlessly. Apple's products really go the distance.

Little late to the thread but I bought a Macbook 6 yrs ago , still running fine except battery not holding same amout of charge, Not once a virus Issue/Break down.

I also needed Windows based lap top to keep work related stuff separate and have gone through 3 of them in the same time frame plus a lot of head ache, One had such a bad virus that you put any USB on it and everything gets deleted and frozen.

From a computer naive stand point, Once you go Mac you never go back.

Glass finish? You don't want a matte finish? Less glare from fluorescent lights. I'm not a big fan of glass finishes.

I am now running Mac at work. I bought a Mac specific logitec keyboard that wouldn't recognize via bluetooth so I called logitec and got by actual IrTs.

His exact words were my mini Mac is too old for there keyboard even though I bought it new yesterday and it recognized my 4 year old iPhone no problem. He said they made it ( my Mac) years ago and it's outdated. Lol

I hooked up another keyboard to move things along to get that one to work.

Apple cust service is not in they keep it here

I'll update tomorrow after I get used to it.

Fisto, looks a bit pricey but I suspect that the SSD and AppleCare are tacked on to the cost.

Is this a new machine or used machine? And where are you getting it from?

Whats the RAM on this? 16GB means "its a good price"; 8GB means "negotiate and bring it down a bit".

If not urgent, I would wait till Sep 10 (Apple's event) to see if MBP are updated with the Haswell processor.
Else would recommend a setup similar to elmech.
