The failure rate refers to an occurrence of pregnancy during an entire year of having sex. People have sex 52-104 times during that year on average and have only a 2% chance of getting a kid in that year.

This is terrible logic. Sure, a 30 yo chick is less fertile, but she is also 1000% more likely to want a kid than a young girl with a promising future. I stick to girls <27 with good careers ahead of them, and I never stress about condoms, pulling out, etc. Med or law student? Yeah, definitely not going to let herself get knocked up. Thing is, if you know when she is ovulating, *normally* between 12-14 days after her period is over, then you can come inside her, after she has ovulated, pretty much the 10-14 days before her period. And for about 4 days after her period. (sperm can live for a week inside her, waiting for the egg to arrive)
