Last night I went out to listen to music on Sukumvit Soi 11 and at the Raintree bar near Victory Monument and get back to my place past 1 am.

So I've just gone to bed and hear this woman screaming outside my room. It goes on and on, so I get pissed off and go outside my room (in my boxers) to see what's going on. The screaming's coming from the floor above.

I get up there and see this woman screaming and crying, holding on to this guy who's hanging out the window from the waist down, bent over the edge of the window. This is six floors up.

I run over and get him in a hug under his arms and lock my hands over his chest. He's an average size Thai guy, maybe 5'6"- 7" and 130-140, I have no real idea. He's struggling a little, I'm yelling "help!" She's grabbing him too. I start bracing my feet against the wall and pulling him in. she's helping with his lower body and we get him inside and on the floor. He's drunk, maybe on drugs and babbling and crying. Obviously some kind of lover's quarrel. After we get him on the floor, the security shows up. Thanks, guys. Nobody else on any of the floors (12 rooms per floor) came out to see WTF was going on.

Fisto or Chris Giambi would have grabbed him by the hair and pulled him in with one hand, ha.

I thought he had his feet on a ledge, but when I went to look at the place today, there was no ledge. So this guy was a small tip from going over, at least 25 meters, even with flag poles below that he could have been impaled on.

Saving another man's life is so blue pill beta. A real alpha would have fucked his woman while he was hanging over the edge. haha

Great job bud. Always a great feeling when you can help someone out but I can only imagine the rush you felt when you save another life.

Was this at the place near Victory Monument? I'm staying close there as well but no such drama at my place unfortunately.

Went down to the office and retold the tale to the girls and the cleaning ladies there, got them laughing. Of course they loved the gossip. One says, yeah if he fell it would have been on the news, looked bad. Such sympathy.

I'm not sure that guy was 100% serious, the woman was screaming for five minutes before I got up there, but he was so fucked up he might have lost balance and fell anyways.

I'm going to one of these expat group meetups tonight, will have something to talk about.

Crazy things happen in Thailand.
A couple of years ago, in Koh Panghan (not during full moon) I was waiting for a pick up van in front of my hotel, at 6 a.m., when I saw a Thai guy walking down the street. He had several cuts in his arms and face! There was blood everywhere. A few minutes later a gringo comes down the same street, covered in blood and holding a knife (aparently he wasnt hurt). He passed me and left. Then, a few minutes later, when I tought the circus was over, a thai girl in a scooter crashes against a wall on the same street the two guys came from. She was also covered in blood, but didnt appear to be hurt. She told me about the fight and asked for help. She was trapped under the scooter. I helped her get out, suggested she run instead of ride that scooter. Than I just prayed for my van to arrive.

Eventough it has nothing to do with Sp5´s story I just wanted to share this bizarre situation.
Anyway, crazy stuff usually happens at late ours. We have to try to keep it safe when travelling.

Yeah, I was telling the story tonight to an Aussie, he said he saw a guy who was squashed on a bus on his motorbike, lying dead on the ground, and all these commuters were out with their phones taking pictures with the corpse, smiling and laughing, pointing at the dead guy. We speculated it had something to do with believing in reincarnation.

One thing I got telling the story to Thai girls: "You Superman!!" Hell yeah, I am.

Crazy stuff does indeed go on in Thailand. But if you're a foreigner and don't want to die here, not getting on a motorbike and staying out of the sea cuts your risk rate by a third.

I'd worry about getting involved with anything here though, especially involving Thais. There's just such a poor history of farang/local police interactions.

BTW, in some cultures, if you save a persons life, you are then responsible for them.

I was in koh phangan a few years ago at the full moon party. At the hotel I was staying at a wasted farang climbed onto the roof and eventually walked over a non structural part of the roof and fell 3-4 stories to his death. The term blood curdling scream is a bit cliched until you've heard one.

True. Shit, my odds aren't looking so good. I imagine moderating alcohol intake adds some years to your life over this direction too.

SP5 - It seems as if you were taking a definite chance in getting involved in this situation - b/c you did not know the situation, and even potentially putting yourself at risk in various respects - the guy or girl doing something even more crazy than what appeared to be the situation.

I probably would have done something similar though b/c a sort of auto-pilot seems to kick in once you assess the situation and come to a belief that someone needs help.

Frequently, i am of the view that life is not worth living unless you take a few risks (or at least i am speaking for myself)... and if you do not take any risks you will not have any interesting life stories.

I imagine that you will be able to tell this story for years, just like i frequently tell the story of my performing CPR on a guy in his mid to late 20s that collapsed while we were jogging as a group of three in the middle of the boonies.. while the friend fellow jogger ran off for an ambulance, i began CPR. I feel more like telling that particular story b/c the person lived and seemed undamaged after the fact. On the other hand, i experienced another situation that I do not usually tell about a guy who died while I was working working in the Emergency room of a hospital as an EMT and I was involved in going on an emergency ambulance run... the guy in his late teens or early 20s was collapsed and on the ground and two people were already performing CPR when we arrived in the ambulance. I was the EMT in charge, and I decided to scoop the guy up, and haul ass back to hospital, which was only about 10 minutes away, while the two guys continued to perform CPR. I was told that I should have started an IV and done a few other things, i believe including giving oxygen.... and possibly some other stuff. I was in my early 20s, also, at that time, and later it was determined that likely the collapsed guy had already been dead for a while from some kind of internal bleeding incident.. however, i rarely will tell that story b/c the outcome is less heroic than the one in which the guy lived.
