Here's some evidence as to why you should avoid most of rural northern India. While some of the countryside is probably idyllic, there's also the danger of Hindu-Muslim riots. These are a problem all over the north, but they're especially bad in rural areas, where law enforcement is sporadic at best.

http://www.openthemagazine.com/article/nation/why-0. I haven't heard of westerners ever getting caught up in these, but the danger remains.

Avoid Mumbai unless you're rolling in high echelons of society, go for the cities Agastya says. Visit Hampi in south india, as well as other spots he mentions up there.

Shimla is amazing too, ski resort, a bit more relaxed attitude to life and not as indian, it's more colonial british. Mount Abu in Rajasthan is outstanding, it's on a mountain. Jaipur and Udaipur are beautiful cities to visit.

if you want to go to a beach in the subcontinent, it's either south india especially in tamil nadu/kerala or Cox's bazar in Bangladesh which 250km of straight beach

People (poor, low caste) shit on the beaches. It's a constant problem. It was even an issue at a 5 star resort I went to in Goa once. I just don't trust the water near any civilization, which is a damn shame since the whole country is in principle surrounded by beach.

For starters try varkala and kovalam in kerela.

try gokarna in karnataka.

Fabulous beaches...single women...

Indian chicks are good, but you can get hands on them only of they live abroad... little chance in India itself.

Yeah, throw down an actual datasheet please. My knowledge of India is largely academic.

I use women's opinions as a reverse barometer:

If women love a place, that's bad for pussy hunting. Think of Italy or California (although I think it's gotten so bad in California men are intimidated and that creates an opening.)

If men love a place, you don't need to ask why unless they are asexual.

Why bother going to India to bang chicks. Just stick with the hot spots in the US and you can find some stunners. They are much looser then back in India. India's culture is super conservative so I don't see it turning into a Thailand anytime soon.

Yup, Don't bother with Women in India. Like anywhere else, they are plenty of sluts here (catching too much of Americanism) but sluts in India vs sluts somewhere else... hmmm... I'd rather find somewhere else.

Does anyone know anything about Dhaka, Bangladesh? If I had to take a job there as an expat, would I be effectively shutting myself down? Or would I even want any of the local goods? I know it was addressed earlier in this thread vaguely, but that was like 3-4 years ago.

I have to think in somewhat closed societies like in the subcontinent, online game is where it's at because they don't want to be seen with foreign men. Just a guess. It sounds difficult. Never been there.

I have a chick from India who randomly added me on Whatsapp - married with 2 kids, but wants to come visit me in Thailand. I've never been to India but she kinds looks cute.

From what I've heard and read, there is absolutely no reason to go to India.

Very hard to make money there. Women are scarce and generally not attractive. It's smelly, dirty and dangerous everywhere you go.

Most of my Indian friends advise me to save my time and money and go somewhere else.

It's a tough question but deserves it's own thread because Bangladesh is not India.

If you're making good money, Dhaka is prime jump off point for anywhere in SEA.

You might get lucky with the wealthy/international set, if you can work your way into those circles.

As a city, it is dirty and stressful. But you might find an enclave. And it is the cultural epicentre.

You could live in a university town like Sylhet, and try your chances there.

Thanks for that. To what extent do you consider Bangladesh to be a different ballgame than India? Would Dhaka be more like Mumbai, or Bangalore, or something else entirely?

I will make OK money but really not enough to be rolling out to BKK every weekend, not to mention the time that would take. You're right, though, BKK isn't that far. I'd rather hold out for a setup in a country that actually has chicks, no doubt.

I fully subscribe to the idea that India is not worth it for the girls.

Those of you who have been there, is it worth it for the travel experience, food, etc., or is this place a complete no-go?
