The woman's been arrested and charged for felony assault:

"PROVIDENCE -- The mother of a teenage girl who was shot in the back on Sunday night was charged this morning with two counts of felony assault for attacking a WLNE-Channel 6 reporter and photographer.
Deputy Police Chief Thomas F. Oates III said that Melissa Lawrence, 35, of 365 Public St., surrendered at police headquarters on Wednesday morning on charges that she sicced two pit bulls on reporter Abbey Niezgoda, 24, and struck photographer, Marc Jackson, 43, with a rock."

Also, it doesn't say it in the video, but the daughter's alive and is out of the hospital. The depressing thing is that in trying to research these basic facts I turned up a score of other recent random shootings involving teenagers in Providence.

Luckily none of the shootings involved white-Hispanics with Jewish last names so we won't have to worry about them.

You probably didn't hear the part where the person who shot the kid turned himself in.

I'm pretty sure he's not getting an acquittal like the White-hispanic with the Jewish last name you love so much.

On topic: Why didn't the woman just say "we don't want to do an interview"? What did the reported say to have her want to sic dogs on her? Seems like we're missing some important information here.

What a bitch. The white women should file a hate crime. If a white sent an attack dog against a black while cursing that black person's race, that would be grounds for a hate crime and nobody would even challenge that. Should be no different the other way around.

I wonder if that bitch has a boyfriend or husband? I can't imagine how any man could put up with that.

Yeah, this was the best outcome from the newstation's perspective. No one would have given a shit about the shooting since it was not done by a white guy or "white hispanic."

But now this is a huge story, that a (from what I could tell on my phone) pretty white woman was "scratched" and "bitten" by some dogs.

I couldn't help though, but laugh at her "running" in that dress and high heels.

yeah. That was the funniest part. She wasn't running so much as she was maniacally prancing in a zigzag pattern while trying not to topple over in those heels. She is not going to live that down any time soon.

The ironic part is that the black woman, as uneducated and unsocialized as she is, would have had the sense to immediately slip off her heels and use them as defensive weapons against the dogs.

Last point, what is with the sad breakdown in communication between the black woman and the reporter? Why can't the black woman say, "No comment, please leave now."?

And why is the reporter so dense as to aggravate this woman to the point of emotional distress and not realise that she needs to get the fuck out of there? I mean, when someone is dealing with a serious violence within their family and they do not want to answer any prying questions, leave them the fuck alone.

I hate frivolous litigation, but the black woman could sue in civil court for illegal tresspassing and emotional distress and most likely collect a decent chunk of change from a TV station that will pay her off rather than pay 25k in legal fees and have go to court.

^^^ I saw no grounds for litigation. The reporter was on a public sidewalk and it's not illegal to ask someone a question in a non aggressive manner. I can understand why the black woman didn't want to be bothered but given the uncivilized way she handled it I can have no sympathy for her. Then she had to make it racial by saying "white bitch". Was all that really necessary? If a white called me a racial slur and had their dogs attack me, I'd be filing a hate crime.

Mmmmm. political discussion that involves race usually ends up in silly arguments on both sides, so I really would rather not go down that path. I understand the resentment against "hate crime" laws. The laws are ridiculous, but the hypocrisy of these laws lies squarely with the people who created the laws, not with poor black people. Progressive political groups are using these laws to unfairly target non-progressive people and it is horribly unfair. But don't blame the poor black people, they are just pawns who are just as politically and socially impotent as they ever were.

As for the video, watch it closely. You can tell it has been heavily edited and the voice over narraration lies about what really transpired. First, we don't know how many times the reporter asked questions to the woman before the woman told her to go away, or if the reporter actually did step foot on the BW's property. We see the reporter walk up to the woman and address her, and then after an editing cut, where we do not know how much time has passed, we see the woman cursing at the reporter, telling her to go away.

It seems more plausible that the reporter asked the woman several questions about the shooting before the black woman started cursing at her. We don't know how many times the black woman told the reporter to go away, but it was enough times for her to get violent.. At :18, it appears as if the reporter is asking the BW for the first time if she is aware that a 16 minor has turned himself in for the shooting, but, that it is not the beginning of the conversation. After the editing cut, we see the black woman has already disengaged and has turned her eyes downward looking for a rock. How much time has passed? I dunno, but the woman who was doing something in the back seat of her car is now done. The door is shut and she has her keys in her hand as if she is about to go. It looked like she was getting something out of the back seat. It is very possible that she got something out of the back seat, took it inside, and was getting ready to leave, during which time the reporter and the BW were in a discussion in which the BW probably told the reporter several times to leave.

Then at :24 the BW picks up a rock and throws it at the camera man. Why did she do that? There is another editing gap before we see her do this and where we do not know how much time has passed, but there was proably more discussion in which the camera man was involved, but was edited out. Why else would she assualt the camera man unless he was provoking her also?

Then at :30, the BW goes up the stairs to get a bat, and the narration claims that the TV crew is trying to leave, but that is a lie. The reporter has only moved farther away, but she is still facing the BW and asking questions to the BW, even after the BW leans over and yells, "get away from me".

Then, the BW siccs her two dogs on the reporter and we see the reporter run down the street. But then, after another editing cut where we do not know how much time has passed, we see the reporter walk all the way back to the BW's house and confront her again. There has been enough time to pass for the woman with the blue Camry (?) to move the car and walk back to the sidewalk. WFT man.

I would really like to see the entire uncut piece of video and then make any judgements.
