I am not gay.

But - at the same time - I will never get married.

So - if I 'married' a male friend of mine. Does that mean - when one of us dies - the other could collect half the pension that they have paid into?

Is that how pensions work?

Just curious. Since here in the UK - gay marriage is going to be legalised on Friday...

And you're not even the first smart lad to think of that : i knew a law student in Brasil who wanted to marry his gf's father so he would collect widow's pension (about 10 K BRL month)

I see no problem with gaming the system like this, but it's just more fuel for the argument that government shouldn't define marriage.

The straights aren't necessarily for gay marriage. They're just not against it. If you start to expose all the little loopholes like this you'll see a lot more people against gay marriage. You can spin most people's opinions if you relate it to money.
