Here's why this is bullshit.

My "set point" weight used to be ten pounds heavier. After I got kidney stones, I cut out all soda and chocolate. I dropped ten pounds and it's stayed off. I made no other changes.

Last winter I decided to eat a bunch of chocolate because it was on sale. Guess what happened?

Looking forward to indirectly supporting her obesity through my tax dollars.

I don't mean to reframe this and make it about getting on a soapbox and start preaching to the choir, but I honestly don't understand why it is some excruciating anathema to some people to get some fucking exercise 2-3 hours a week. I have considerable nerve damage, my lower back and left leg is constantly throbbing with pain. I hate sitting down. I hate standing up even more. Sometimes my left leg just locks up and I end up hobbling around like some poor malformed drunken cripple. Guess what? I still go to the gym. I still squat. I do pullups with weight attached to my dip belt. Sometimes between exercises I have to lay down on the floor for 15 minutes before I can get up and continue lifting. I try to eat right. On bad days, I have to dope myself up before going to the gym, but I still go. I look at people with fat bodies that have no structural damage and shake my head. What the fuck is wrong with these people? I'd kill to have their body.

The empirical observation that most people tend not to keep weight off appears to be true; but the natural conclusion is that most people are insufficiently motivated and/or disciplined, not that weight loss is impossible.

There is a hint toward a mean-reversion tendency for people's weight--but in fact, weight loss can be self-reinforcing for a lot of people, especially with regard to alcohol which can be a huge source of recurring calories. I dropped about 10-15 pounds over the past half-year to tighten up my six pack, which wreaked havoc on my alcohol tolerance. That means that I drink much less, which entails hundreds of fewer calories a week.

As a side note, I suspect that girls have less discipline with regard to saying no to sweets and pastries, and this lack of discipline has an evolutionary origin--in pre-modern times, food was hard to come by, and women would have to get as much caloric intake as possible as they were usually pregnant or about to become pregnant.

Do any of these studies have participants get on a paleo or high fat diet? I haven't seen any. I don't eat strictly paleo, but I haven't had to worry about getting fat because I don't eat much sugar, wheat, or vegetable/seed oils. A diet high in fat, low in sugar is very satiating, and you may not even need to think about how much you eat - just chew your food thoroughly and stop when you feel sated. A relaxed paleo diet may not help you lose weight, but you won't gain on it either.

Yup, studies have found that women consume proportionally and maybe even absolutely more sugar and carbohydrates than men do. Men get more calories though.

I challenge anyone to become fat eating only natural, traditional foods (i.e. meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, nuts, sweet potatoes, brown rice, oatmeal, etc...)

It's basically fucking impossible. Real food fills you up and is not addictive. No one gets up in the middle of the night to satisfy a craving for grilled chicken and asparagus.

These fatties are fat for the simple reason that they're addicted to junk food: carbs and sugar. They funnel this shit into their mouths every waking hour of the day and wonder why they can't lose weight.

Most of these women are so delusional and/or oblivious that they probably don't even realize how much junk food they actually consume in the form of snacks. So they really believe that diets don't work, because they will eat healthy meals but then consume 1500-2000 calories worth of sugary junk food throughout the day.

This is another reason that being fat is highly correlated with stupidity. If you're too dumb to recognize that grazing on junk food all day has negative consequences, guess what's going to happen to your body?

As an aside, that's also the reason why vegetarians and vegans are very often fat, which is surprising to most. They replace meat, eggs, fish, etc. not actually with vegetables, as most assume, but with sugar. Lots of sugar.

I fucked this former fattie who had lost about 100 lbs before seeing me. She told me she would wonder why she was fat when her friends weren't... and that she would eat out with her friends, and then eat a whole lot more once she was alone at home. How'd she lose the weight? "I stopped eating like a fatass." Her words.

I lived with a couple girls who weren't fat, but they were on a diet that seemed to consist only of spinach and water. They dutifully kept to it, except when the clock struck 9 and it was time to drink. Or when their friends Ben & Jerry found their way into their hands.

I'm in the same boat, mate. The thing to remember is you're naturally highly-resilient, meaning you can endure a great deal of pain and trauma before your willpower is compromised and you fold.

Low resilience = small traumas create big issues. People like that are genuinely and meaningfully traumatised by small things where it would require something enormous to generate the same reaction in us. As annoying as it is to accept, it's, unfortunately, very real.

I think women were originally encouraged to mature by developing 'strength of character' - the classic female-centric childrens books were usually about girls learning to be resilient women. Now, of course, women are encouraged to remain children forever in the name of empowerment.

The natural progression of this is exactly what we're seeing in society now: people with low resilence are trying to set up a model where it's actually considered immoral to treat people with variant resilience levels differently, and suggest the idea that people who actually have their shit together enough to not lose it over insignificant, petty crap are unfeeling monsters and powder kegs waiting to explode, so really need to open up and cry about their problems to 'heal', ie. be as weak as they are. They can't even begin to comprehend that we are honestly unfazed by that which doesn't kill us.

Hell, If I were to voice my honest opinion in the public sphere that low resilience is a clear sign of an unhealthy mind - I actually consider it a form of depression - and clearly correlates with the coddled and spoilt children of privilege, then you can imagine the outcry from the fat and lazy social justice brigade who'd try to dox me on the spot.

Diets don't work but healthy lifestyle choices do.

This fat acceptance movement bothers me to the core. "healthy at any size" is bullshit and they bring up the archaic BMI Index as there rallying cry even though that metric has been dumped for almost 20 years now. People always forget that processed food is designed to be as satisfying as possible and leads to addiction to shitty, sugary food. Following on from that, Feminists encourages Low Resilience in women, because it empowers them. It sounds illogical, but bear with me:

Following a class model, the more resilient a community, the more it will be expected to bear. Men usually have high level resilience as individuals, but for women to succeed, they need men to have low level resilience as a community: isolated, uncomplaining wage slaves.

Often the most productive groups are comprised of a weakly resilient leader, mildly resilient middle managers, and highly resilient subordinates. It's a reversal of what our success-driven model teaches us, but that's the reality. You can how women then easily rise in the chain of command above men.

Poorly resilient people need to believe they are brilliant and trash their subordinates for failure - the pattern is born out of a class schism. Then, when the leaders fail, we call their lack of resilience 'sensitivity'. Those with higher resilience are thought of as beast of burden ie. "works like an Ox."

If this interesting difference ie ever enunciated openly - they'll call their weakness a "gift" of "creativity" and "sensitivity". High level resilience is then obversely and ironically derided as lacking in strength! Strong is weak, weak is strong - pure Orwellian doublespeak. Examples are practically anything that comes out of a woman's mouth with regard to their own gender: 'survivor', 'empowered', the victim as 'strong', 'anything a man can do a woman can do better', etc.

This doublespeak is why men will get labelled 'cold' and 'callous' by women, because we don't cry over literally breaking a nail. That example is deliberate because you have to consider the chain of entitlement they're crying over... thinking of what they've lost... which is a bauble crafted by the creative labour of their 'lessers', ie the men who built society and keep it functioning.

The myth of feminism is that they're seeking 'equality'. The reality is what I've just described.
