Revisiting Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs still hold up today. If one was to be really honest with one self, you could see just where you are stuck. Do you agree with Maslow -- and where are you in the hierarchy.

I don't think this model holds up very well tbh. It's not that I deny self actualization is a thing, it's that this particular hierarchy has problems.

Sex makes two appearances in totally different places.

You're damn right it does.

One is the physical release, the other is the intimacy it confers. That's why it's so unsatisfying when a girl adopts the starfish pose and says "get it over with".

RE: Revisiting Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
Had to study this as part of a management course back in my first year of uni. I can only imagine the kind of damage I would do to my report card in that unit if I took it now. The idea is supposed to be that, until the foundations of the pyramid are in place, it is impossible to properly implement the steps above it.

Applied to a feminist?

They have all the security in the world, but often they miss out on the sex factor of the physiological component, so they treat sex as an act of violence. In that way, they can't fill their security needs. Can't do that? The sexual intimacy requirement obviously won't be met. The only friends, and therefore, validation (esteem) they can truly receive is from social network whoring and being part of a group of people that are all in the same boat - those who can't truly fulfil their social needs, since their own aren't met.

This leads to the most important part - self actualisation.

Feminists like to try skip over all the other failed parts and move straight onto this step. What happens when you try this? Obviously, it's not going to work.

Morality? "I was just trying to discover myself!"
Creativity? "I like being tied up and tortured by my billionaire sex-god boyfriend"
Spontaneity? "Live for the moment! You go girl!"
Problem solving? "The government will take care of me when I get pregnant and can't keep a man around to make money for me"
Lack of prejudice? Do I even need to..?
Acceptance of facts? Well, now...

And people wonder why society is so fucked up

RE: Revisiting Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
A healthy society is one where the gov't works towards helping its each citizen to progress on the Maslow pyramid.

However, with more contract work, rich getting richer, poor getting poor, feminism and other issues, most people --especially men -- are stuck on the physiological and safety needs of Maslow's pyramid.

This is a big factor why economy is bound to eventually collapse in the US.
