It's typical CNN stuff, as far away from the actual realistic stuff as it can get. They would have been better off if they just stole a fragment of Heartiste's writing:

There are certainly human sexuality universals, but these universals are modified by unique environmental pressures.

The bottom line is that people who claim lifelong monogamy is the natural state of humanity absent cultural interference are wrong, and people who claim free love is the natural state of humanity absent cultural constraints are also wrong. The truth, as always, is a lot uglier than either side would have you believe.

monogamy is cooperation to raise healthy kids and have civilization.
these pieces bash it as "unnatural" and then deny natural differences between males and females
understand male and female nature and you see what each party gets out of it.

the choice is between that clean system and the mess of primal mating. sexual liberation isn't some magical new world. it's just going back to the very basic untmed animal mode
