Kirk hammett is a great guitarist. I personally don't even really like his style, but I recognize he's great. He made up his own distinct and unique style and he knew what he was doing.

Yes he is. Two different types of sounds. It's like trying to compare who's better, SRV or dimebag darell. You can't do it. They both have their unique sounds. It's pointless trying to nitpick about what's better. Kirk is a true legend, and I say that not even liking his style. Game recognized.

Dave Mustaine is a better guitarist then Kirk Hammet. Hell I ever hear a lot of people say James Hetsfield is better then Hammet.

Flea is a bass guitarist bro, two totally different things. But I agree that he is awesome, though I would personally give les claypool the upper hand. John Frusiante on the other hand, the former guitarist for rhcp is a beast. He has one of my favorite styles. Under the bridge was very well written, great melody to that one.

I have to agree with InternationPlayboy here. Do note it seems like guys on this thread know more than me about this issue, so take my opinion as you will.

Hammett is generally considered one of the best guitarists of all time. From my perspective, his solos in "Fade to Black" and "Master of Puppets" are on another level. In particular, his solo in "Fade to Black" is incredible.

Recall that the song actually was about the team getting all their equipment stolen & their despair over the huge setback to the fledgling squad. The song pushed some suicidal youths to commit it & the band came under intense scrutiny - although the band did get some letters with fans telling them the song prevented from committing suicide.

As for his work on the album "Master of Puppets," it was excellent. I remember buying that album as a teenager and listening to exclusively to it when my parents went on some boring vacation - sitting around in the hotel room playing Tomba for PS1 and listening to Master of Puppets.

Does anybody remember that game?
