The second is when Norton suggests that he and West make out at 15:50. He's made her the butt of his joke, the punchline being what sane man would want to kiss Lindy West.

But like Norton said, it all depends on context, if the joke is done with malicious intent or not, and normal people can tell the difference. Is there really anyone in the world that will think, "hmm, I'm going out tonight to rape someone, that comedian made a joke about it so it's ok".

Was commenting on that video when I saw it on YT earlier. A few minutes after that it got flooded with Tumblr feminists and then the Red Pill vs. Feminazi battle began. Got some pretty hilarious rape jokes from the comments.

One thing that amazed me was how many of the feminist comments were mentioning how they don't watch stand-up or listen to any comedians. I think this is something most feminists, including Lindy West have in common: They're all humorless cunts. You can just hear it in her voice. There's nothing but sarcasm for the sake of being condescending, but not amusing.

God, are there any feminists/liberals that can articulate themselves without using that deeply repellent, smug, self-satisfied, patronizing incantation that they always do? i really do think it'd be easier to cut them a lot more slack if they didn't do that.

west did make one very good point, that it used to be entirely socially acceptable for white comedians to make extremely derogatory racial jokes, and that the shaming of this went hand in hand with the sharp decline of actual racial discrimination and racist attitudes. If you watch any old Dean Martin roasts, essentially it is just a non-stop stream of racial jokes that would have any of today's comedians instantly blacklisted today. it is really pretty shocking what was considered acceptable as recently as 30 years ago. Same goes with gay jokes, which were allowed to go just as far until as recently as 10-15 years ago.

that said, the crucial difference is that blacks and gays were facing actual discrimination in addition to public ridicule, whereas women are, if anything, the beneficiaries of favoritism in most contexts.

I am not buying the connection with black jokes. For one thing, it's simply not true. Sure, when Michael Richards gets flustered and starts dropping n-bombs on stage, it's a big deal. Those weren't jokes, though.
