Is it just me, or is the American climate/environment no conducive to them?

- 2 Polish chicks
- 2 Russian chicks
- 1 Bulgarian
- 2 Kazakhstan chicks (well I guess they're not E. European)

All in the mid 20 range....but their American counterparts seemed to hold up better.

Your experience?

I find eastern europeans hold up better over time. Maybe its just my prejudice.

Q: Post Chernobyl or pre Chernobyl?

I think it depends on where they are. In the DC area forget about it the vast majority of them are like kids in the candy store. In a more rural setting maybe they'll behave differently. I think ultimately some have less than honest motives, and others just want to enjoy the taste of capitalism.

american white girls are from european stock so to me that says they would age the same.

Chicago has a lot of Polish immigrants. Chicago uses Polish the way California and Texas use Mexican immigrants. There's whole books on how to speak Polish so you can talk with the hired help.

The largest factors in ageing are stress, smoking, and diet. I'd say the Polish immigrants in America have had a much less stressful life than the Polish nationals that spent WWII in mass executions, concentration camps and starvation, followed by Soviet control and the iron curtain.

In the same way, Western Germans look less aged than their eastern bloc equivalent.

Life during wartime is pretty harsh. Life under Soviet rule was still pretty harsh. And it takes a couple of generations for a people to recover.

White women on average age poorly no matter where they are, everyone suffers from stress which is a leading factor of aging. I personally have found women that can tan a little tend to age slightly better, my czech ex would get red (burnt) from half an hour in the sun. Although she did look decent for her age, then again she was from a small village in Czech Rep.

Could be the diet that Eastern Europeans eat. I stayed with an old Romanian lady and I saw how she ate, high amounts of fat, loads of butter and sour cream, whole milk, few vegetables or fruits other than cabbage. She was overweight. I also lived near Greenpoint in Brooklyn, a major Polish area, and always saw old Polish ladies buying all kinds of gristle, or the cuts of meat I'd never eat. I'd also think that the extremely cold weather in winter may also have something to do with it.

As someone who's been on fairly long vacations in EE (5-10 years ago) there are several conflicting factors contributing to acceleration and retardation of aging:

POSITIVES:
1) Most women on the hunt in EE know what a good figure is for their type and avoid gaining weight as long as they're hunting. Here in the USA even 50 lbs overweight is considered "thick", that's bullshit.
A woman 5'5" ( unless you're a big butt fan) should weight about 105-11o pounds, few Americans do.

2) Worse climate means less sun damage unless they actively tan. I saw some girls from Ireland I believe at the Apple store the other day, they were about 20 years old and had spectacularly rosy, untanned complexions, way better than American girls usually do

NEGATIVES:
1) Lower quality preventive health care kicks in in 30's + -- not that many people take vitamins, there's less organic produce. Fewer preventive dentist visits.

2) who knows what pollution control exists or not. i know at the Black Sea there were a number of seaside cottages that dumped raw sewage right into the sea, only hundreds of yards from swimmers. [More] corrupt government means radiation levels, sanitation ( above) are not transparent-- businesses may be able to totally intimidate any environmental protection workers that exist, if they exist at all. So you don't even know what pollutants are around you, or the levels at which they exist.

3) For the working classes there are a lot of stressors that are hard to quantify-- super-packed buses on polluted streets, walking in the cold might be good exercise if you're healthy-- but when you're tired and you don't want to do it, it can be wearing, poor service from workers-- when you're not getting good food, a lot of this wears on you more. Good fresh food like orange juice from Italy-- super expensive. Vegetables can come from Georgia I think, but there's nothing available to most people like the cornucopia in an American supermarket with POM antioxidant drinks etc.

4) Economic desperation means higher environmental risks are accepted. If you have a filthy iron plant in your town but it's the only source of employment, you'll take it.

The pollution levels in EE cities are definitely of concern to me-- Chelyabinsk for example has a lot of polluting industry and have hired PE people to improve their web search findings!

It may be best to stick to non-industrial areas or areas where the elite have always lived (Moscow) as those people probably knew about and kept pollution away from their families and out in the hinterland cities where the little people lived.
