RE: Badass tattoos
I got info on 3 tattooists from a tattoo freak chick, according to her the best tattoist, Kali isn't available for the next 6 months, but the other two are available on short notice. On a sidenote, my sister says to me " You're digging your own grave, you can get HIV and Hepatitis from tattoo", I told her "How come the millions of people with tattoos don't get it then?"

Germanico, I will certainly upload a picture of the tattoo once I get inked

RE: Badass tattoos
If you do (and Im hoping you dont, at least think it out first) make sure its from a reputable tattoo artist, look him up online and do your research.

Tattoo parlors are expected to follow certain health regulations, and industry safe practices. Just like hospitals, some artist dont folow them to the letter and theres a risk for potential infection. But its rare, because no artist would have a very long career if word got around that he is spreading hepatitis. Yes, you could get an infection, just like you could get botulism from mcdonalds. So dont worry about it, the risk is minimal.

Ask to see his autoclave, if he doesnt knows what you are talking about, walk away. And also, ask for sample of his work, he should have a photo album full of it. And visit the place first get to talk to and know the artist before you get the work done. And I mean days, dont meet him the same day you get your tattoo. If you see anything you dont like, walk away and look for somebody else.

Its something thats going to be on you for the rest of your life, something you can never get rid of, so be patient and make sure that you are doing it the best way possible. Ive seen tattoo artist handling money or food without removing or changing their gloves, soaking dirty needles (for reusing) in chlorine, starting work without disinfecting their work area first, or doing work in open areas or in places like kitchens and living rooms (not precisely the best place to handle instruments that are going to go under your skin, right?)

Its perhaps going to be more expensive this way, but this is something where you dont want to be cheap. Cheap tattoos look cheap. If you are going to fuck yourself up, at least fuck yourself up like a champ.

Germanico, you're absolutely right, no point getting a cheap tattoo. I'll visit the tattooist soon, and have a look at his work.

Start now, it takes mad time (I've had 21 laser sessions, spaced 2 months apart, and still have some way to go before complete removal).

RE: Badass tattoos
I met a drug dealer at a redneck bar one night, it turned out that his uncle owned the place so I ended up getting free drinks and they even put a case of beer in the trunk of my car for the ride home (midwesterners can be hospitable). Anyway, we were outside smoking and he showed me the most enormous prison tattoo I'd ever seen, it was a black and white picture of the Virgin Mary that covered his whole back, from the lower skull and traps down. He had four or five huge knife/shiv scars on his back that were made into parts of the tattoo as well. That was badass.

You just reminded me of my first instance of seeing another individual get tattoo'd.

It was a home job done by some guy my friend Jason knew who did home tattoos. What did Jason want immortalized on his chest? A skinhead crucified like Jesus.

One of my boys wants to open a tattoo remov facility.

I'm thinking about investing in one (or the same one) myself.

That's going to be big business.

I think Ryan Gosling's tattoos look sick in the movie

RE: Badass tattoos
I've got a couple words (in different languages - not latin) written vertically on my ribs.

Biggest piece of advice is to go the best tattoo artist you can find, even if it's a simple design.

I paid $375 for a medium sized written tattoo with cool font, whereas I probably could have spent $60 or so at a less reputable parlor.

I don't necessarily regret it...all my friends/girls I know think it's cool and it does look dope imo...but it's in a spot (ribs) that I can see every time I take a shower or change my clothes etc.

A couple of my friends have tattoos on their backs, back of shoulder, back of tricep...and they rarely see their own tattoo in the mirror.

Again, I don't regret it, but keep in mind that the forearm especially will make your body look different (especially in your own eyes - you'll see it 24/7)

RE: Badass tattoos
Find something you're extremely happy with first. Find something you like and look at it everyday for a month. Do you still like it a month later? Will you be adding to it? Is it something important to you? Answer all those questions for yourself first.

Do the legwork and hit a couple of different shops. Have the artist who's book you liked the best redraw what you wanted and make sure they can make it how you like. Give them input on how you want it, and don't be afraid of making them work. if you're paying the guy make damn sure he's got it the way you want it. Learn'd that the hard way although my new artist is fixing it up damn nice.

Second to last session in 3 weeks, can't fucking wait.

Nothing says "badass" like a triple scoop icecream cone on your face topped with lighting strikes... Everytime I hear a song this guy sings my IQ drops 7 points.

My Koi sleeve tattoo is not finished yet, it misses colors on the shell and on the fins, that have not been colored yet - plus some fiorituras. Once more, it gives IMO a non-standart and fashionable look (provided that in parallel you also wear stylish and refined clothes, a fancy watch, ect) that many girls seem to appreciate, especially - but not only - on my hunting ground, FSU and EE.
