Thousand bucks says that if this pill hits the market, betas will slip it into drinks
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/26/magazi...d=all&_r=0

It's a pill that creates lust in women. Kind of like "spanish fly" was supposed to be, but this one is real. Currently in experimental stages. Although actually, the most interesting part of the article to me was her describing her lack of attraction towards her husband.

If it's got any kind of addictive quality, women will probably take it themselves.

Haven't read the article, but based on your description I would bet alphas would be the ones to slip this into women's drinks. Betas believe that the way to a girl's heart is through kindness and befriending girls without being an asshole. This pill would go against their premise.

I also think girls would not want to voluntarily take this pill (or admit to it) because it would make them look like sluts.

will it make women sluttier in general or just for their bf or husbands, it could mean even more sex for alphas

gamepadawan: Women don't need drugs to feel attraction for novel, alpha men.

This is making me think of a movie like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Instead of going in after the love relationship goes south, the customers go in when they are still in love—and get the woman fixed to stay that way. All the usual questions about free will and identity and etc. come up.

Beta: "If you really love me you'll take this pill."
Lizard: "If I really love you I won't need it."
Beta: "That's what they all say."

etc etc. Maybe I'll get to work on the screenplay.

Or you could write it for an alpha in love:

Alpha: I love you too, Lizard. But I know too much. I know the hamster that dwells within.
Lizard: What if there were a way?
Alpha: A way?
Lizard: If you'll ask me, I'll take this pill and be yours forever—hamster be damned.

Hmm. Food for thought.

Betas could slip it in their sinks, but Alphas will still get the pussy.

Is this the type of thing that is illegal to slip into someones drink? Does it have a taste? Is it illegal to "slip" any substances into a girls drink?

Hell yes. Depending on state law it's considered a form of battery at least and many states have specific laws that refer to tainting food and drink or administering poisons or toxins etc

What if you make a cocktail in front of her? She doesn't know what's going in there. Can you get arrested for putting vermouth in a drink?

It's different from Roofies I think.

I always thought the "roofie" thing was a fairy tale from years past. It's hard as hell to slip something in a bitches drink and then drag her lifeless body out the bar in a smooth swoop. It's just to obvious. I never believed the hype about date drugs for that reason. 90% of dudes dont want to fuck a dead fish. Then what about the awkward moment the next day when she wakes up? All propaganda to me.

Women will take this themselves If it works.

From what I've read about roofies is that it isn't really a knock-out drug (at least if you don't use too much...HA HA!). Initially she won't feel well, then she'll be in a state where she's foggy, but compliant, and will slip in and out. That's why women supposedly will have blank spots in their memory and not be clear on what happened. I agree that this isn't something that someone gets you with at the bar, but back at the apartment. Or maybe you'll drop it in the last drink of the night when you KNOW you're getting her back to her or your apartment. They call it the "Date Rape" drug because it's a guy that knows you, so you're comfortable enough to go back the apartment with him. The dude wants to be able to get his without resistance.

More about this pill:

http://blog.sfgate.com/hottopics/2013/05...effective/

It is still in its experimental phase and won't be available until 2016. I wonder if it will be as effective as the drug companies claim it is? Currently they are worried that if they make the drug too effective it could be rejected by the FDA.

Considering how burdensome the FDA is, we won't be seeing this pill even by then. If ever.

I know a guy works for the FDA. I take time to remind him that he works for a bureaucracy that makes life or death decisions with zero accountability. Think about it: has the FDA ever faced a serious scandal for not approving a drug fast enough? Nope. They only face heat for approving a pill that then has serious side effects.

Another think I don't get about the pill is how it works? Does it just make women more horny? Does it just make them enjoy sex more?

If so, then slipping it into a woman's drink (as described above) might not have the effect that you think it would have since she would still need to be attracted to you. You could slip it into her drink and she still could very well go home with someone else she finds more attractive in the bar, club, etc. From the little research I have done on this drug, it doesn't work like a "love potion". It instead makes women's libido increase, meaning she is more in the mood to have sex. Plus, a woman would need a prescription to get the drug, so it wouldn't be available over-the-counter at supermarkets, gas stations, etc.

Even in the off-chance it gets approved by the FDA in a low-dosage strength, it won't have a huge effect on the sexual market unless it is widely abused by single women.

Yeah, if you're a beta dude with a girlfriend or wife, you should be slipping her a drug that raises her oxytocin levels, not her libido.

If you're a typical guy who loves his girl more than she does, you want to boost her maternal instincts, her need for a provider, and for a caring partner, and not accelerate her desire for a sexual release.

You want to tamp down her sexual instincts in favor of her maternal ones. So she'll be happy to cuddle with you and spoon while watching Bravo.

The article describes it using a combination of a testosterone-infused coating over a drug that increases serotonin, but temporary reduces it. The testosterone makes the brain release dopamine which is the neurotransmitter responsible for impulsivity and sexual desire. Serotonin is the neurotransmitter that makes one feel inhibition. So increasing impulsive action and desire + temporarily reducing inhibition = female lust pill.

Also the pill is supposedly worrying it's developers because it might end up working too effectively and get blocked by the FDA:
http://blog.sfgate.com/hottopics/2013/05...effective/

Whether it gets banned depends on how the media and feminists end up spinning it. If there are a lot of middle-aged women looking to get their freak back I can see the feminists going on a screed, "How DARE you tell women what they can and can't do with their bodies!", "You men are just afraid of strong, sensual, sexual women!"

On the other hand, if the media spins it as the next Rohypnol then it could end up getting labeled a date-rape drug. The article in the OP post seems to frame it as a way of fighting against committed women's hypergamous natures by making them horny for their mates again. But if the thing lowers inhibition and increases sexual desire I don't see how it wouldn't make them lust after men for affairs too.

I don't see how it could be used as a date rape drug. There will still need to be attraction for it to work. If anything, the guys that will benefit will not be betas but instead good-looking dudes since women who take the pill will have increased sex drive.

Like I said, in the off-chance that it gets approved by the FDA, I only see it having a big effect on the sexual market if it is widely abused by single women.
