Two huge divisional games back to back... can't ask for much more.
Thanksgiving is always better when the NFL games are actually good.

Yeah. And I'm pretty proud of the Lions this year. They are the team with only a decent record but a team that nobody would want to match up against in the playoffs.

Out of curiosity, did any professional victims claim they were offended last night as the Mexican fans yelled their famous goal kick yell after every single kickoff or punt?

Colin Kaepernick Praises Castro, Lashes Out at NFL Fans

Quote:The reporter confronted Kaepernick after the quarterback steered the conversation away from the “uncomfortable” topic of Castro. Kaepernick shot back, “One thing that Fidel Castro did do is they have the highest literacy rate because they invest more in their education system than they do in their prison system, which we do not do here, even though we’re fully capable of doing that.”

When the reporter challenged Kaepernick on Castro’s history of breaking up families, Kaepernick responded, “We do break up families here. That’s what mass incarceration is. That was the foundation of slavery so our country has been based on that as well as the genocide of native Americans.”

After the South Florida media cited a Sports Illustrated study which said that many fans stopped watching the NFL because of Kaepernick’s anthem protests, he responded by blaming the fans:

“They’re not watching football because of my stance about fighting systematic oppression and wanting the same equality and freedom for all people.

“I would say they probably need to look in the mirror at what they value. You know, if they’re OK with people being treated unfairly, being abused, being harassed, being terrorized, then the problem is more with what they’re doing in their lives than it is about watching football games.”

It's hard out there for a Bears fan. We will have to rebuild for a few years at this point. Well, at least my Cubs won it all. That Dallas game vs the Redskins was a good watch.

It's time to get the patriots off their high horse. I hope the cowboys lose against the Giants so they at least humble up during the playoffs. Recently these dudes get too cocky and lose right away.

Cowboys Superbowl LI winners!....in Houston to top it off.

Interestingly the great political activist that is Colin Kaepernick has never registered to vote in any election.

Quote:Kaepernick, who was raised in Turlock, turned 18 in 2005, but he has not registered to vote in California at any point in the last decade, according to records maintained by the California Secretary of State. He also did not register in Nevada while he attended the University of Nevada, Reno, from 2006 to 2010, according to the Washoe County Registrar of Voters.

That means he missed presidential elections in 2008 and 2012 – when Democrat Barack Obama was elected president – in addition to a variety of state and local elections in other years.

Hes an idiot using controversial political stances to distract from his terrible performances on-field.

RE: NFL thread
I had little problem with Kaepernick's initial protest. I'm not a fan of BLM or their methods, and after months of watching them burn cities down, block highways, chant about dead cops, and jump uninvited onto stages at events, I welcomed Kaep's form of protest. It was quiet, not particularly disruptive, and still managed to send a message. I thought taking the knee instead of sitting (a change he was advised to make by Nate Boyer in order to show more respect for the military) was a fine way to spread a message.

And yes, while BLM has exaggerated and misrepresented things and generally just done a poor job articulating the actual issues faced by minorities with regard to our criminal justice system, I do think there are actual issues that exist and need to be worked through. BLM/Soros may be exaggerating and manufacturing some things, but their success in doing so is largely based on the fact that there are foundational issues that really do exist, which create enough distrust within the community among minorities to allow such manufacturing/exaggeration to work (people are more willing to believe heightened claims about the police being out to get them). The whole Kaepernick protest at least got some people talking constructively about these issues for a while, and that was good.

That being said, there are other things that lead me to believe Kaep may not be the best messenger. For one thing, he seemed ill-prepared to outline the objectives of the protest. When asked how long he'd be doing this, he basically said "until things change". That's not good enough - one needs to define a clear end-game and stick to it. This made it look like he simply hadn't thought about what he was doing, and that's not a great trait in a messenger for issues like this.

I didn't get on Kaep for not voting, especially since in doing so he was willing to move off the party line/plantation and rightfully point out the flaws of Hillary Clinton in doing so. That was something you rarely hear from people on his side of the aisle (most of whom are just blindly "with her"), so I gave him credit for that.

That being said, this bit about Castro is inexcusable. You can't big up tyranny and oppression while at the same time celebrating those who made a living perpetrating it. That reporter (Salguero) was entirely in the right and Kaepernick looked the fool. Responding by pointing out the flaws in the USA is weak as well - yes, the USA has sposored dictatorships abroad and done terrible things, but that's precisely why you claim to be out here protesting - you are, allegedly, against those actions. That makes it inexcusable for you to support another individual whose entire life was dedicated to the perpetration of such action. Two wrongs don't make a right - you are either against the oppression/tyranny or you aren't. You can't keep harping on alleged US oppression while passively tolerating the likes of Castro. It's not "just a shirt" - it means something, especially when you're claiming to be a messenger.

This also goes for all of those on the left who spoke up by bigging up Castro and soft-pedaling his atrocities by pointing out American ones in a bid to defend Kaep and keep the protest narrative BLM promotes going. This is the height of hypocrisy, and it shows a disturbingly high willingness on the left to embrace or ignore tyranny when its convenient - a trait they have spent years criticizing their opponents for allegedly doing.

I don't dislike Kaep and I honestly want him to succeed on and off the field, but he makes it hard to cheer for him with shit like this. He deserved to take the L he took last week and I'm glad it was a Cuban American (Kiko Alonso, whose dad had fled Castro's regime) who delivered the final hit on Kaep to end the game. What he said and did was ignorant and disrespectful to those people who had to deal with the real consequences of Castro's autocracy.

All that being said, a part of me is sad about just how much this has overshadowed Kaep's actual performance on the field. He's not a great QB, but his play this season would seem to indicate that all the talk about his not belonging in the league at all and not being worthy of ANY contract is misguided. His numbers have been decent and, in terms of overall play, I'd say he's honestly superior to at least 8 of the guys who've been Week 1 starters in the league this year (Siemian, Bortles, McCown, Cutler, Flacco, Keenum, Fitzpatrick, Gabbert) andnearly all of the backups who've played (with maybe Garoppollo as one of the few exceptions). Yeah, he's a bottom tier (bottom quarter) starter in the league, but still probably a starter. If we just went by his on-field performance alone, I think more people would be talking about his having potentially saved his job this season and maybe bought himself an extra year in San Fran (maybe with the 49ers drafting a guy and letting Kaep be the bridge for another year).

Because he has become so controversial, though, it's become more difficult to have objective conversations about his ability. Tons of people blindly hate him not matter how he performs because of the stances he's taken, and others worship him because of his activism and don't take his on-field performance into account at all. The controversy is bad enough that we don't even know if he'll be in the league next year, regardless of how he has performed this season. That's unfortunate.

The Falcons game from last week vs the Chiefs is the worst loss I've ever seen the Falcons get. It's crazy to have the game won and give it to them on the extra point. They rebounded against the Rams good but it was the Rams... Noone cares.

Dallas Cowboys vs Giants right now.

My money is on Giants. Anyone want to make a bet?

Cubs win the World Series.
Lions winning their division and 2nd place in the NFC for a first round play off bye.

They might as well win the Superbowl.
