I hate those things, but I'm realistic - I know the Patriots are favorites and are pretty likely to win tonight. I don't like that conclusion, but I am ready to reluctantly embrace it.
That being said, nothing would brighten the end of my weekend more than a Patriots loss tonight. I'll hope against all odds that it happens.
Go Falcons.
Why don't you like Boston or the Patriots?
How much time do you have?
I hate the Patriots because they embody the spirit and culture of Boston in a way nothing else quite does, imo. I've never seen a team whose faces are more truly representative of a city's culture and people. They're one with their town in a way just about no other team in sports is.
Why do I hate Boston? That's a long story and I dont want to totally de-rail this thread. Cliffnotes:
-I don't like the weather
-I don't like the nightlife (too few options and those that are around shut down way too early)
-The dating scene sucks, especially if you don't look a certain way.
-I don't like the culture here
Let me expand on this one a little bit: I hate nothing more than closet racialists. These are the kind of folks who virtue signal to no end and want desperately to be seen as anything but intolerant, but whose actions
very clearly show they're really not as tolerant or open-minded as they say they are. Boston is the national capital for those people. I hate them - they're part of the reason I've grown into more and more of a conservative with time (spending your entire adult life surrounded by them will do that).
Also, you know all of those smug academics folks around here spend time lambasting for their promotion of politically correct foolery and SJW-isms? Nobody makes them better than Boston. This is SJW ground zero. This is intellectual leftism/progressivism ground zero - the leaders and drivers of those movements are housed and educated here first and foremost.
Boston is also rich entitled and-often-hypocritical-progressive ground zero - Hillary Clinton is this city's spirit animal, there's nobody else that most of the folks here would rather be. I think if the typical Somerville or Cambridge resident could pick an avatar to represent them, she'd be it.
-Architecture sucks (feels like it was built for a perpetually grey day)
-Expensive with fuck-all to do (near NY money in some parts without anything near NY-experiences to compensate)
-Highly segregated
-For all of the talk of the virtue signalling/fake liberals I mentioned above and the prevalence of SJW-isms, I can also say, frankly, that I've never been in a place where I've felt more actual racial tension/negativity in my life. There's real hostility between groups here and actual open racism that I don't feel back where I'm from (and I come from a part of the country that is not that far away from New England and substantially less statistically diverse or politically democratic than Boston). It is my time here that convinced me that the stereotypical "Democrats = never racist, Conservatives = always racist" was a blatant, malicious lie. Boston is the bluest place I've ever been and easily the most racist.
Thus, Boston gives you the worst of all worlds: you get actual racism and extreme SJW-ism plus rabid virtue-signaling hypocrisy in one neat, tidy Puritan package.
-Did I mention the dating scene here sucks? Because it does.
Anyway, there are my reasons. Fuck Boston and fuck the Patriots. Any L this city takes is beautiful to me.
Enough talking, back to the game (at least until the next commercial...)
