Co-incidentally I leave Laos on Friday to go to north Thailand and I will be in Phuket next week so will probably visit him in prison.

A thai prison is not the place I would want to spend the rest of my life but I have to say I have more sympathy for the girl and her family right now.

This is what boggles my mind, thai cops know how to tap lines? and have cctv images?

Honestly I am really surprised they found him, and like a DUMBASS he stayed there.... he should have left the country after killing someone. A lot of higher ups were probably getting sucked and fucked to find out who did it for them to have gone to such length, sadly MOST 3rd world countries have 5th world police.

clr: even 30 years ago South American regimes were very sharp with keeping tabs on "revolutionaries." Same for East Germany and other repressive regimes. These days they can tap your shit with cheap, off-the-shelf components.

You can be sure there are details about why he was accused of murdering the Thai woman. But we will never know those important details. Eidoos77.

In interview he mentions staying awake for very long times. BiPolar disorder appears later than schizophrenia (worsens between 30 and 40). The wakeful energetic highs become longer and more extreme and paranoid, and the flat-in-bed depressions for days get worse too.

Many times there are "mixed" episodes with agitated, uncomfortable restlessness, people become extremely irritable and even paranoid. Combine that with military fighting skills, alcohol ( bipolars LOVE alcohol, it takes the edge off) and personality which doesn't really feel much empathy toward others, and we can speculate this is the multi-faceted picture of the killer and the precipitating situation.

Also it is very important in the military culture to NOT seek help for mental illness, ruins chances for promotion and invites ridicule.

Four MidEast combat vet soldiers killed themselves on ONE WEEKEND on a military base in Texas in the last few months.

I've worked with the military and their agenda is clearly to avoid disability discharges perhaps because of the cost.
Of course, that doesn't at all excuse this guy's horrible crime. My guess after dealing with hundreds of criminal patients-- he's got some empathy wiring missing. No fix for that.

Damn, that's some fucked up shit man. Living conditions in Thai prisons are supposed to be some of the worst in the world, but I can't say I feel sorry for the guy.
