It was amazing to see the difference in Madrid's play after Ramos was sent off. They became far more cunning when they were a man down and it paid off, it reminded me of that quote from Narcos about Pablo Escobar, "He's never more dangerous than when you almost have him."

RE: The Soccer Thread
Putin - yeah, the Donbass Arena was great, I love the start when the Shakhtar stripes go all around the stadium. I regularly watched them in the "old days" when they had Mkhitaryan and Willian running rings around opponents. You could tell some rich EPL teams would come for those two eventually Sad It's a shame because I'd like to see the Ukraine and Russia leagues get stronger and challenge for the Champions League. Right now that hope seems like a bit of a pipe dream... Such a shame that such big teams have been effectively erased from existence.

As for the Clasico, the picture of Messi very bloodied in his mouth, blood running down his face, coming back so strongly was impressive to me, for me he has lacked that "steel" or "toughness" and favored diving and screaming recently. Play with some strength and honor and that is what gets you the real respect. I don't think Messi is on the decline or destroyed like some media claimed after being shut out in 2 whole games by Juventus. I think it's more a case of Barcelona as a team not being as good as they used to be; their defence and midfield is lacking. Messi cannot compensate for 5-6 players who need to be replaced. Also, Juventus is the best defence in Europe. The Clasico is a different proposition to Juve over two legs. Messi can hold up his shirt and maybe claim he is still the best, but this doesn't change the fact that he could not find a way past Juventus, which is a tougher test defence wise than Real.

They were organized but they exposed themselves unnecessarily. It was stupid I mean they could have won the Liga yesterday with a null but at 10 vs. 11 they were still attacking Barcelona. Actually the last goal came from a counter attack of Barcelona, where Marcelo is to be blamed for failing to make a tactical foul on Sergi Roberto.

Agreed. What I find amazing is that they had planned for all this but they just couldn't be patient. For the midfield, the departure of Xavi and the decline of Iniesta were prepared for by having Fabregas and Thiago Alcantara in their team but they managed to get rid of both of them... Barcelona needs a fine tactician more than anything.

Even MSM now admits that there is anti-White racism in the (mostly-Black) "French" football teams:

...and note that Pierre Menes, quoted below, is the most famous sport journalist in France. Having survived and beaten a very dangerous and destructive illness, during which he lost like 40 kilos, he now feels free enough to reveal the truth. Death or punishment do not frighten him anymore.

RE: The Soccer Thread
The problem there is from the coach Domenech, who was totally inept.

But yes, there is a bigger issue with race and French soccer, which was pointed out by Laurent Blanc, the bias at the youth level towards athletic players who aren't necessary going to make the best players, at the expense of more technically gifted smaller players who might have a higher ceiling. As well some of the immigrant African players dominate youth soccer by misstating their age (see US player Adu, dubbed a teen prodigy, fizzled out)

Gay cakes and trans bathrooms: the most important human rights issues of our times, surely.

Going Strong the boycott problem you pointed out to is so real it's not even funny and its present in all levels, from youth to professional. A friend of mine currently plays for an MLS youth team and he is experiencing this very thing. He doesn't touch the ball much, it's obviously more problematic for him as recruiter come to watch the game and where he needs to make a great impression. Now, why he doesn't get a pass- they all want to make a good impression, so they would rather shoot, attempt a dribble instead of passing him the ball...

It's the same problem I would say with professionals, they always want to make a good impression and be the best. They have to be like this otherwise two bad performances and people will start digging their grave it's the nature of the business. To put things in context, Malouda was a forward who has achieved many things with both Chelsea and the French team, an experienced guy. Now, coach Domenech comes and tells him to defend why on earth would he spend all his energy to defend? No way sir, I sacrificed for Zizou because I had to, I was nothing and Zizou was the King... Why doesn't Gourcuff defend for me and you give me more freedom coach to express my talent? I am the more experienced guy no?

Let's say I am Malouda, what are the differences between Zizou and Gourcuff besides skin color and background; Zizou is the captain of my team, more experienced than me in the French team, the best player in the history of France, one world cup won, ballon d'or, Champion's League winner... Gourcuff is less experienced than me, has less titles than me, plays for a less prestigious club than me... I think these things were most likely responsible for the boycott and Malouda's unwillingness to defend for Gourvuff. 7 years have passed since the event and we only hear about this white racism one week before the election...

Quote: Its part of a wider topic. I'm completely against genuine racism/race hate. But I'm also against discrimination against whites and the ugly idiocy of "political correctness".

I was disgusted recently to hear about homosexual child abuse being uncovered in English football.
Later that week, all English premier clubs were part of a disgusting campaign to promote homosexuality, transsexualism and all that sickness eg to kids.

With my national team, many/most of the players are of W Indian/African descent. Different races have different physiology, so in the sporting sense, its hard for me, as a player, to identify with players I could never emulate. Also, I notice how amongst themselves, many 2nd/3rd gen immigrants often call themselves "Jamaican" etc, not even "black British".

Clearly football has been hijacked by the leftist liberal elite and the right's free market globalist elite. And all their so called "politically correct" agendas. I'd be disgusted if I had kids who had to listen to their antics.

The elite wants to promote this "multiculturalism" by filling teams (esp national teams) with non indigeneous players. I mean you can't sing anything at football nowadays without fear of being banned. (Liverpool said that the comment "play like a girl" could earn a ban!) Also, football clubs recruit from a ridiculously early age. Often they choose kids with "nothing to lose" ie poor kids from places with shit schools rather than those who's families have college/white collar aspirations. The problem is that these kids might be great at 11 yrs in an academy. But that means clubs miss out on those who could become superstars at 18 years, the ones who chose to get an education - instead of the "all or nothing approach". Myself and friends were actively dissuaded from football as a career and we were told "its only for dim kids". Erm dim kids on 150k euros a week?

Anyway, I'm not even sure if this approach to player development benefits black kids as a whole. Maybe it reinforces the idiotic idea that black kids can only be good athletes/footballers/musicians etc?

Finally, I think sports science is heavily biased against whites. Esp in sprinting and the like.
Different types respond to different training and development. More and more, the training is geared for West Indians/West African genetics, not other groups. Likewise with the development culture. That white sprinter for France is always portrayed as the "exception to the rule" - how ridiculous!

So managers/coaches are lazy. A new one comes in and says "right I want a French African, a Viera type as key in midfield". Whats wrong with a "Lothar Mattheus, a Steven Gerrard, a Roy Keane, a Graham Souness, a Michel Platini type"?

I think the recent Switzerland Albania game summed it all up.
In the starting 11s, seven Swiss players were actually Albanians. And six Albanians were Swiss citizens.
What the fuck....???

Football demands you to start early because the age curve for most footballers is earlier, than say cricket. If you think football has an 'all or nothing' approach at too early of an age, what do you think of tennis? Vardy and Wright are the exceptions.

I think your issue is more about British clubs because spanish clubs look for a different profile.

As expensive as Pogba was (and he's not a Vieira...his profile actually is more lampard/gerrard), the most expensive midfielders if they were the move today are the likes of verratti, saul, koke, and kroos.

I don't blame him for that.

Except Malouda was a left winger, and it is quite normal in modern football to ask a left-winger (ailier gauche) for defensive tasks. Gourcuff on the other hand, is a number Ten, a rare "creator" (meneur de jeu), and those are not required to pull back and defend, in modern or old-times football. Thus Malouda should have accepted to pull back and defend (piston-like), when in defensive sequences, whereas Gourcuff would just pull back a bit, to the middle of the play area...

It depends on the tactics. For example Ribery, Robben, Hazard are wingers that rightly are relieved of typical winger defensive duties (i.e. tracking back - i don't mean pressing from the front - which are two different things) because managers rightly assess their greatest value is staying high up the pitch and expending their energy primarily in the final third.

Malouda was not as gifted of an attacker as those three, but his work rate was never in question at chelsea no matter who the trainer was. That's why in the begining he actually played more often on a percentage basis in the CL relatively speaking for Chelsea than the PL. Malouda kept the ball well for a wide attacker and grafted.

From 2009-2012 he was an integral part of a double winning and later CL winning chelsea. Did lots of defensive work for lampard (not known for his defensive play in the middle of the pitch) and also considering he played ahead of Ashley Cole, who loved to go forward, Malouda needed to be very defensively aware and had many traditional defensive responsibilities.

As for Gourcuff - yes he was a throwback trequartista type. However two caveats:

1. He wasn't good enough to sacrifice for no matter how many youtube videos one drooled over him. Also he was never fit enough for a long enough time

2. He came up in the mid-late 2000's where that type of #10 was dying all over the continent. You surely remember people lamenting about this and blaming mourinho for it after they saw what his chelsea was doing and later barcelona, which didn't play with the traditional 10 through the middle.

Modern 10's are actually demanded that they press from the front and cut off first station balls that flow from gk's/defense into the oppositions defensive midfielders. Gourcuff wasn't willing to do that. he physically wasn't capable.

Gourcuff was hyped up because people were dying for a zidane heir. He should've went into male fashion modeling over football. He was a profile that would've been bigger had he come along 10-20 years before he actually did.

Therefore, I really don't think the Malouda-Gourcuff issue is a great topic to illustrate what you are trying to illustrate (which I agree with in parts). Domenech was a shit trainer and Gourcuff wasn't a player a veteran of the profile of Malouda should've or would've sacrificed for.

I might be biased (I have a Bordeaux Gourcuff Jersey) (Long story)...

Personally if it wasn't for him then Bordeaux would never have won the french ligue and then they would never have gotten so far in the champions league that one year. Yeah he wasn't always fit but his talent in my opinion was really good.

He was technically gifted but that is only one aspect of the typical four dimensions of a footballer (technical, tactical, socio-psychological (mental), physical). He wasn't one that an elite team could build around. Especially not where football was going at that time.

Even now it is hard to find 10's of that nature and if they are, they have to have much better physical traits.

There is no space and time to operate in zone 14 if you are that languid of a player in today's football. it's honestly been that case for over 10 years now.

RE: The Soccer Thread
Talking about playmakers, I just ordered a book from Amazon to read over the summer, the biography of Dr. Socrates one of the best players in the history of Brazil. He is a true legend of the sport, here is a little introduction for you guys:

Quote:Socrates was always special. A hugely talented athlete who graduated in medicine yet drank and smoked to excess. The attacking midfielder stood out - and not just because of his 6'4" frame. Fans were enthralled by his inch-perfect passes, his coolness in front of goal and his back heel, the trademark move that singled him out as the most unique footballer of his generation.

Off the pitch, he was just as original, with a dedication to politics and social causes that no player has ever emulated. His biggest impact came as leader of Corinthians Democracy - a movement that gave everyone from the kitman to the president an equal say in the running of the club. At a time when Brazil was ruled by a military dictatorship, it was truly revolutionary.

Passionate and principled, entertaining and erudite, Socrates was as contradictory as he was complex. He was a socialist who voted for a return of Brazil's monarchy, a fiercely independent individual who was the ultimate team player, and a romantic who married four times and fathered six children.

I'm ambivalent about the Clasico, I guess Barca are the best cheaters but they are often just as bad as each other. When it starts to affect great teams whose playing style, spirit and work ethic I admire such as Juventus, on the European stage, then it gets disappointing and video referee technology cannot be introduced soon enough. The referee in the second leg of Juve-Barca was surprisingly good; he was particularly wary of the cheating/wrong decisions because he had seen how bad it had become in Barca-PSG or Real-Bayern, so he remained very firm which was good. Hopefully similar tough refereeing will allow Atletico to be given a fair shot at Real. We all know Ronaldo can be a little girl at times, but sadly it often works... Good news for the rest is that Bayern (the strongest team and the best in the remaining 8) has been knocked out.

Malouda was not a good enough player to be allowed to neglect his defensive responsibilities, as some players such as Ronaldo and Messi are.

If Gourcouff was that good he would have moved to England, Spain, Italy or Bayern.

If Gourcouff was that good he would have moved to England, Spain, Italy or Bayern.

Gourcuff did play for the Milan AC, but failed to become an important player over there.

Anyway, there was another problem with him with regard to (almost all) the other players... that is why indeed he is not a very good example of a real phenomenon (anti-White strategies in football, one of such strategies being, as noted earlier, African players lying about their identity and age Dodgy )

Gourcuff was and is the son of a professional football coach. This alone provokes the hatred and jealousy of almost all other players, who had to fight from an early age to catch the eye of the coach, and thus consider him a pampered kid (on top of that, Gourcuff is very handsome, and foot players usually have jealous, childish, often repressed-gay -think male locker-rooms from a young age here-, minds).

Did these anti-white strategies hinder Germany from winning the World Cup?

Did these same strategies hinder Real Madrid from winning the Champions League?

Does everything have to be blamed on racism or anti (insert group) behaviour, you sound like the same feminists you loathe.

Malouda was never a great player for Chelsea or France, Gourcuff didn't impress me the few times I saw him.

On this quoted above, I agree. Neither Malouda nor Gourcuff achieved the (football) greatness they once seemed certain to reach. Indolence has to be blamed, mostly, and for both...

By the way, note that I just stated on this thread that Gourcuff, actually, was more than anything a victim of jealous feelings... in football schools, jealous and insecure kids hate the (privileged) sons of coaches, and this feeling reminds strong later on.

Also, how could "anti-White racism" hinder the German football team, which is like 90% White?.. I hope you don't buy the Globalists' narrative pretending that the German team is "diverse"! Except Boateng, I see only White people in the German team, and yes, Khedira and Ozil are included (both are very pale, matter of fact many high-so Egyptians, and most Turks, are very white).

Agreed. Now let's quit making the soccer thread a race thread.

Anybody have any predictions for the upcoming champions league games?

"let's quit making the soccer thread a race thread": easy for you to say, "let's not talk about origins"... In France, we now have around 80% of professional players who happen to be African dudes (look at Toulouse, Guingamp, even Rennes, Nancy...), most of them using false ID papers bearing false age (to pretend to be younger). It is a problem, and an unfair situation, for native French (or Maghreb migrants) trying to become professional.

PSG African goalkeeper using a false Armenian Exclamation passport with a doctored age:

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apoula_Edel#Affaire

And have a look at Toulouse's African goalkeeper, do you really believe he is named Alban Lafont and is hardly 18 years old??

Paulo Futre, legendary. The only guy who could dribble an entire team inside a phone booth.

When those arms started swinging up and down, everyone, and even the helpless defender automatically knew that he was going to be beaten.

Video description says the "Portuguese Maradona", but although not with the brilliance of Maradona in other aspects of the game, Futre was even more explosive.

Too bad he had to curt short his career, and was never the same after he was 26 or 27 yo, due to all the hits he received from the defenders who seriously damaged his knees.
