You cheat? Don't tell him! - Cosmopolitan
You Cheated on Him. Now What?
You've probably heard by now that Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson with her director. Sure, it's not something to be proud of, but we get it: Sometimes cheating happens. Here's how to deal if you stray.

Don't Tell Him...
Your mother may have told you that honesty is the best policy, but in this case, many experts advise keeping your mouth shut. "If it really was just one indiscretion, don't tell him," says psychologist Marcella Bakur Weiner, PhD, author of Cheaters. "Although it might make you feel better, it will only hurt him and ruin the trust between you."

...Or Anyone Else
Even if the guilt is killing you, let it be your burden to bear. And don't tell other people either or you increase the possibility of his finding out.

Examine Your Motives
When a woman cheats, even just once, there's usually a problem in her relationship. "Women often stray if their sex lives are stagnant or they're feeling neglected," says Ruth Houston, author of Is He Cheating on You? "The other man fulfills something that her current guy isn't giving her."

Ask for More
If you decide your love is worth salvaging, you have to fix the problem or the issues will fester. "Ask yourself why you did it," advises Weiner. "Then let your boyfriend know what you need from him." But still, do not confess.

Be Honest With Yourself
Of course, the relationship could already be dead in the water. "You may just be too lazy or scared to address the issues," Houston points out. Or you just want to see what else is out there before doing anything drastic. But do yourself (and your boyfriend) a favor: Cut the cord.

Say You're Sorry
Even if you've covered your tracks, your man could discover your indiscretion. Assuming you still want to be with him, your best bet is to say how sorry you are, swear it'll never happen again, and beg for his forgiveness. Now is not the time to get into the reasons why you did it. "Wait a couple weeks before airing your grievances," says Weiner. "He needs time to process the betrayal without being confronted with the mistakes he's made."

Give Him Space
Being cheated on can do a number on a person's self-esteem, so you have to stroke the poor boy's ego. Regardless, he will be pissed and might need space. If so, leave him alone until, fingers crossed, he forgives you.

Yeah, they frame it that it's always the guy's fault at the end of the day.

That's what they do.

Goes both ways, though.

Nothing to see here. Cosmo just did a service for any men so delusional to think women weren't already thinking this and being told the same by their friends.

Cosmopolitan and other women's magazines were founded by former prostitutes and slutty women so this comes as no surprise. This article is merely another piece to justify an "empowered" woman's irresponsible sexual actions during her youth while simultaneously putting down men. If the genders in the article were reversed and it was men's cheating being justified by a major magazine I could only imagine the chaotic reaction from women.

Telling women what they want to hear sells magazines. It's a business just like any other.

Ah, yes. Nothing suggests a mature adult quite like someone who blames their indiscretions on others.

"stroke the poor boy's ego."

So now he's a boy? Infantilizing men who are upset with a cheating spouse? It's the culture of naricissism.

Women's magazines are a huge ball of dysfunction staffed by completely neurotic women. I worked for one of these women once when she got appointed editor at a newspaper I where I worked. Within ten minutes of meeting her, she had already told me about the competitive dieting they did at the mags, which was one reason she felt she had to leave. Then she proceeded to give all the good assignments to a boyfriend which got me hating her. Last I heard she'd gone back to the magazine world and was still dating and pushing 40, but I have no idea how she'd actually meet a guy there because the mags are entirely staffed by women and gay guys.

Actually I know about 10 situations of cheating girlfriends that were cheating constantly their boyfriend with other guys.

People have told to their boyfriends, but they never ever believed, or actually their ego never let them believe.

All of them end up marrying their cheating girlfriends....

My guess based on my life experience is that a girl who is cheating on her boyfriend, actually always makes him become more attached and more afraid to lose her...

If it really was a deeply-regretted once-in-a-lifetime experience that she wants to atone for and stay faithful forever, then yes, it would be better to keep it a secret. But I don't think that applies to more than 0.1% of all cases...

well, this works perfectly... because guys have so big ego that even in front of every possible proof... they will still do the opposite and marry the girl who cheated on them repeatedly

Sounds like pretty solid advice for a woman who's cheated. So cosmopolitan is trash, written for trash - what else is new?

Fucking hamster is outta control up in this piece. Wow.

She's right though. If you're running your woman the way you should, she would never cheat on you. I do doubt a womans ability to articulate exactly what her grievances are, but you can safely assume that if your woman is cheating, it's probably because you're a pussy.

Read the article again and again, this is why we love being nihilists.

Chivalry is treason.
Mercy is treason.
Compassion is treason.

It amazes me how they make it the guys fault she is wants to throw her puss around. Maybe she just likes random dick. Maybe she isn't relationship material.

If a woman has it in her heart to cheat. I don't think there is much a guy can do to stop it. He just has to choose a better woman.

You guys are engaging it on their level. Just dismiss it as the nonsense that it is and move on.
