FSU vs SEA
I have only experienced FSU, not yet Southeast Asia. But, I am strongly considering a move. Lets see what the pros and cons are:

Former Soviet Union
-----------------------------
Pros:
-hotter women(on average)

-more cultural similarities(language, food, cultural norms are European. Easier to make friends due to shared culture.)

-Better living conditions(roads have potholes and iphones are pricier...but most things are not too different from a provincial US city)

***
Cons:
-harder to get laid(girls expect more, on avg. it takes several months of searching to get a quality girl)

-boring scenery(food is meat and potatoes, architecture is western, its cool to see castles-but not too exotic, nature is regular forests and rivers)

-weather(it gets cold, similar to New York or Toronto weather)

SouthEast Asia
-----------------------
Pros:
-easier to get laid(Winston Wu from HappierAbroad.com is proof of that, as are many others' experiences)

-weather(warm and sunny)

-scenery is exotic(beaches, monkeys, tropical jungles. Different types of asian food, temples, music....its all new and foreign, so much to explore)

***
Cons:
-girls are less attractive(on average I'd say I prefer EE girls, and there are fewer hot Asians available to foreigners)

-Living conditions are bad(I avoid capitals and megacities, so a place like 2nd Tier Phillipines/Cambodia/etc is gonna have diseases, less western ammenities, etc. People die from typhoons and floods, crime is more of a problem because you stand out as a foreigner much more.)

-Harder to connect to people( I took classes in Eastern philosophy/religion...and I don't understand it. I understand Aristotle, Kant, Jesus, etc...but I can't relate as well to reincarnation, cyclical life, caste systems, etc. I can see it being tougher to connect to people and make friends. People have a different way of thinking about the world and so many basic ideas are different. Probably more shallow connections with girls and friends due to differences. Imagine an African from Congo comes to your city and speaks no English, knows zero Western Culture...would you be able to relate to him? You spent childhood watching English movies/playing basketball/going to school...he played different games, watched different films, and spent most time farming.)

If you believe the first picture of an SEA is accurate you will be dissapointed.
She looks like something you will see in the US not in SEA. Westernized.

I would go with FSU any day. Quality over quantity!

Have you even been to SEA bro?

In Indonesia, girls like that are everywhere.

No. Thats a model. The first FSU girl pic is also a model.

In the other pictures I added more typical FSU and SEA girls.

Indeed it is a quality vs quantity debate in some ways.

But weather, culture, and society matter too. I'm thinking long term(years) to stay in a place.

You are missing the obvious place that gives you the best of both worlds: Central Asia.

The warmer climate you prefer, the friendlier local women and easier bangs, the landscapes, cheapness, choice of Russian or Asian looking women, you already have the language down. Best of all no hordes of other tourists, you can go to places where you'll be the only show in town.

Personally I loved my time there and I see it as an overlooked jewel.

And aren't those places like nearly untouched by American men? I've seen some of the most exotic looking women come from Central Asia. I'm talking about Kyrgyzstan,Uzbekistan,Tajikistan etc.

Disagree re middle asia, have been there at xmas. The is massive reverse racism against the russians there, and if you are white you will fall into this category. Girls that are seen with youbare looked at as whores or traiters. In myb5 days there i twice saw bouncers rough up russians for no reason. Maybe kasachstan is still good bu youbwill have to spend a lot of cash there to compete.

Central Asia, huh?

Hmm, it could be a problem. I have met men from Turkmenistan and the place seems very tough and rough.

I will visit one day, for sure. They definately have beautiful scenery over there. I wonder how life would be like over there.

RE: FSU vs SEA
FSU women remain my n° 1 in the world, but I must admit that I have a weakness for Indonesian women ...... what is great is that they have all the physical types and nuances between Malay, Chinese, Indian, European and Arab. Beautiful mixes, unseen elsewhere in SEA. They are also usually taller and more curvey than their Thai, Cambodian, ect counterparts. Dressed with better style also, which is a factor in appearance. They are also usually much more learned and worldly.

This is not pics taken from facebook or whatever, I personally took them. One was at the grand opening of a bar in Kemang (a party district south of JKT), and the other in the carpark of Plaza Senayan (upmarket mall in JKT). I had a one month "menage a trois" with two of those girls, but no need to go into salacious details.

Still Indonesian GF, who visited me in Paris.

She was a well-known model in Indonesia. Third pic is from her book.

Boobs are natural.

@prosal

How is the language barrier there? Do many girls speak english?
One reason I think Indonesia would be a good spot long term is that they have a realitively easy language to learn.

Yes. Almost everyone speaks english in JKT, not just the girls. Indonesians are on the whole far more learned than thais.

Yes Deb of course because everyone immediately moves to every place they like right? I mean millions move into the Magic Kingdom each year after liking it. You can't help yourself can you.

RE: FSU vs SEA
For you guys who have been to both SEA and EE I am curious more about lifestyle for someone staying 6+ months.

I have a decent understing about the difference in girls but when living somewhere that is only part of the equation. Where are you going to have better friendships, ability to integrate into social circles, quality of life, etc...

Any thoughts by someone who has spent time in both locations would be really appreciated.

You can't stay 6 months in a FSU country unless you have a student or work visa. All countries apply (from what I know) the 90/180 day rule. Even with a one year business visa, you can't be exempt from the 90/180 rules or have time extended in country.

Edit: my bad, I just noticed that you talked about EE and not FSU.

Americans have a new 3 year visa they can get that allows 6 months in country at a time. No time out restrictions beyond a day.

Well, obviously you get a visa and stay legally.
If you're serious about staying somewhere, you can do some paperwork, follow procedures and respect the laws of the country.

I am trying to decide between Philippines and Ukraine. I got a location independent job, so I'm thinking of staying for a decade or more and buy some property after a couple years.

SEA girls are friendlier and the weather is great, but Ukraine has some hot chicks.

arggh, tough decision.. How to finally choose
